I did have one installed. I talk about it briefly in this video at 21:45 and also a few minutes later. But I don't think I did a video just on the bilge pump. Hmmmm kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnu2f2mQbdqtrsksi=ob1DHUYOfqJPz5uj

Got a question for you. I have the exact same motorhome. Where do you keep your spare tire? Mine is on the tow hitch in broad daylight on the back. Though it works, I’d sure like to have it in a compartment somewhere.
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper 4 ай бұрын
It has been 10 years or so since I owned that MH, but I never carried a spare. If there had been a tire failure, I would have relied on the service to bring out fresh rubber. It's not a great answer for you... but it was a conscientious decision to go that route.

Hi Michael- I wish I had caught on to your trip in real time. (I didn’t catch on until you made it to the New York City.) I could have helped you with our Florida weather in the summer. It is our rainy season. It rains everyday in the afternoon in Florida during the summer. So weather man says 50% rain everyday. Mornings and early afternoon you will see bad clouds but they usually don’t collide into a thunderstorm until The late afternoon. They just brew all day and look bad. 😮 **I am the one that contacted my boatfriend Kurt in Chicago- you docked in his extra slip @ Burnham Harbor, Chicago. I am reading your book and watching all the videos now. I did see that you mentioned Kurt, CJ, & I in the Chicago chapter! Thx for the shout out!😎 Such a great adventure!🥳 We live in Florida and boat the Great Lakes all summer. Our boat is in heated storage in Cheboygan, MI. Our itinerary this summer is Georgian bay- and south on the Trent- (opposite the loopers) then Lake Ontario to 1000 Islands, Montreal, and The Rideau Canal…. Only 1400 miles scheduled. A LOT less than the 6,700 miles you did in 3 months! Congratulations again! It is fun to read about your journey and follow the videos too. You can follow us on FB: Sunshine State of Mind-941 *I have a go-pro etc- but I have never made a video. I don’t really know how. 🤔 Have a Great day! PS. What is your next Y-Wait adventure? We are slowly bringing the boat back south- Summer 2025 3 months exploring the Chesapeake Bay Spring 2026 -Bahamas trip

Hi Linda! Great to hear from you. All in all, I really lucked out with the weather in 2022 on my trip. Just 5 weather days all summer -- 3 of them for Lake Michigan! I love the itinerary for your planned summer cruising. I've heard Georgian Bay is spectacular, along with 1000 islands, etc. Kinda makes me wish I could tag along behind ya on the ski!!! But I'm still working... :-( Glad you are enjoying the book and videos. I just got another shipment of hard covers in, so if you you like it -- please spread the word!! TinyURL.com/YWaitBookHC It is hard to compare any year's adventures to the Great Loop. I spent 3 weeks in FL in the motorhome in Jan/Feb, will take the MH to OR and WA in the summer, and several other destinations. My family is also renting a houseboat and ski boat on Lake Powell. So lots of "smaller" trips... Thanks again for hooking me up with Kurt!! That truly was a perfect spot, and it was great to meet Kurt, CJ and the gang. Enjoy your amazing travels!!! Mike

Not concerned about leaving ski in salt water over night? Without giving it a fresh water flush or putting on dry dock and rinsing? Just curious. This is where I’m up to in the book at the moment
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper Жыл бұрын
I was definitely concerned, but I couldn't always find a dry dock. So I relented to just leaving it in the water. I DID spray the engine with protectant, and greased many of the electrical connections, etc.

Thanks for the quick reply Mike. That’s always good to do. Very impressed on how many hours were put on the machine in such a short time. How did the whole jet pump and driveshaft hold up as far as corrosion from saltwater?
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper
@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper Жыл бұрын
Surprisingly well! At each service, they removed the pump and greased the splines. And I had them thoroughly wash the interior, and then reapply the protectant and grease. And now that I have the retro-fix to the starting problems also installed, I feel it is ready for another mega-trip. (but no plans set yet)

Very interesting! I live on the bay in Long Island, New York. I always spend a lot of time washing them, flushing, and anti corrisive, on dry docks. Pretty cool to see the seadoo held up, and the carbon seal too…maybe riding it almost everyday, helped blow salt buildup off. Look forward to following you on your next trip, the book has inspired me to do a trip ive been thinking of for over a year now, just up the Hudson River for few nights, from my backyard. Maybe even down the Erie Canal, but nowhere near your mega miles, PTO will definitely not allow me. Have a great Christmas Mike!

@MichaelStraubSeaDooLooper

Funny you should ask. I spent weeks fiddling with various tablet mounts - including trying out a RAM mount. But after all of that messing around, I simply used two sets of bungee straps, with a hand towel behind the tablet providing cushion. I worked a couple years at the marina on tavernier creek, creatively named tavernier creak marina, right by the us-1 bridge. Cool to see some familiar places. Good luck on your trip. Shame about the pwc rules, but as a former resident, I under stand their logic. Even if the implementation was lacking. It was due to recreational/rental craft ripping around where they shouldn't without regard to other boaters, and the environment. I can tell you from experience that boating on the weekends down there was like being surrounded by mosquitoes. You are operating your craft like a regular boat. There should be a little more distinction written in to the rules.
