Marco tone down with your praising of InfiRay.. a company that is heavily sanctionized by both OFAC & US for systemic military support to both North Korean and Russian troops invasion of Europe and also why they now try to source out into multiple smaller fractions.. I get that getting these free goodies (CN) likely feels good but your actions do have consequences. Hmm. I can see your from Germany, that sadly been the financial foundation for Putins regime throughout more than 2 decades and even delivered a lot of the habengut that Putin is doing his bs with... Germany (under the table) even sold mis & w-habengut to Putin between 2014 to 2021.. all while there was an EU weapon-embargo. Angela Merkel were a very problematic & underming german fuuyhrer for our continent. if you wanna read up on infiray.. read _ "Evasion, Fraud, and America's Degrading Military Edge" also why they are now trying to port out into multiple subsidiaries with other new names, like fx Thermal master and many others.. to circumvent sanctions.

Would reed switches or relays be a good fit for this application despite the added cost?

A countertop toaster oven makes a perfectly acceptable reflow chamber. Just get a good temperature probe and solid state relay control.

Do they ever put ovenized standards into Dewar flasks to insulate them from ambient? If it were in there with, say, a gallon of water, it would take forever to come up to temp, but it could stay there with minimal upkeep. Ps: i see some frequency standards in Dewars. It's maybe not a dumb idea then!

"I removed everything" sounds so evil. If not starring in a movie as the antagonist, you could do voice over.

Back in the day (70s) I read about a guy who was trying to troubleshoot a (tube, of course) TV without a schematic. Just looking at local areas he could look for DC voltages that did not seem right. He was stumped, the set continued not to work, and eventually he was able to get a service manual. The culpit? A iK carbon comp resistor that had grossly overheated and wound up with a value of about 100 ohms. Why didn't he catch it earlier? Because when the resistor overheated, the red band cooked and turned brown. So now it read brown-black-brown instead of brown-black-red. Which is, of course, the code for 100 ohms.

Some years ago, Marco did some "cleaning" with IPA, "I'll just use some IPA" [removes needed stuff] "OOPS!" Couple with that beautiful German accent and deep voice, I laughed like a crazy man until I nearly threw up. What a guy! It annoys me when I see some of these repair channels, and no I'm not telling, that are enthusiastic amateurs but have no real expertise. Worse when they go diving into mains powered equipment without proper protection OR warnings to viewer on the dangers of high voltage. Really micturates on my cornflakes. I'd love to know how old Marco is and his qualifications. I've never seen anyone on YT with his level of knowledge or expertise. Great Scott is pretty good too. It's like these guys have Ph.Ds in the skill.

So IGBT modules are not suited for electronics loads? how are they compared to MOSFETs as I see many E load projects are based of them? If IGBT's aren't suitable for quiality DC loads what are the proffesionals like keithley use?

The delay on disconnect is important. The first stage engages active spindle braking, then after the time it should have stopped by then, it then disconnects the drive. If you speed up the disconnect speed, it will just disconnect before the drive has come to a stop.

After buying a similar plotter from Radio Shack for several thousand $, we discovered the Roland Digital DXY-1250 series. We did aerial mapping photography and every negative had to be annotated with flight information at the top and bottom of the negative. We used giant rubber stamps that our film lettering department had to adjust by hand for each negative. Our film was 9.5 inches wide on rolls up to 400 feet long. On the Radio Shack model, I had to adapt it for vacuum hold-down by modifying the platten area. When we saw the Roland Digital model we bought one right away. I had to modify it by cutting out the platten to mount a custom vacuum platten made out of lighting-white acrylic with 0.1 dia holes in a 9X9 pattern. The Roland was perfect as it allowed us to use Koh-I-Noor Rapidiograph inking pens. After the plotter modification, building a custom frame with a diffused light source and allowing the use of re-winds for the 9.5" film spools we were almost in business. The next thing was to write a program in Basic to drive the plotter. From the time we built the plotters in the early 1980's to when we closed the Lab in 2007, the 2 plotters lettered 100's of thousands of negatives. They were also kept busy 24/7 after the May 18, 1981 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens. We had the contract to fly and photograph the devastation left after the eruption. I think HP had a similar plotter, but it was much more expensive than the Roland and did not allow for the extensive modifications I required. The Roland DXY-1250 came along at just the right time for us. It was pretty memorizing to watch/hear it in its demo mode. When it was lettering film, it sounded just like Morse code with its "dits and dahs". Thank you Roland Digital for making the DXY-1250 just when we needed it.
