400 cubic inches, 275hp. Now there’s guys building 2 litre Honda engines making 1000hp. A quarter of the size making four times as much power.

I am waiting for a video of dozens of KZbin content competitors to be in a huge melee over getting in each other’s way while trying to g to get footage without people in the shot. Ryan is great. Was doing photo albums on Moparts before the age of KZbin.

Hey, was that shoulder belt hanging on the little hook by the door frame? I drove mine (orange. Door date: 2-71) for 100,000 miles. (1974-1985) Places like "Skyline Drive" in Virginia, Rt190 east of Salt Lake, Mt Rainer, Death Valley, Grand Canyon. Snow, rain, heat, what a fun car! Sold it to a friend who put many more fun miles on it. That "summer/winter" flap let air come in from an engine pre-heated duct under that intake neck (see it @ 9:17). No fun changing out 6 U-joints at the same time! The OEM flexible connector in the steering linkage left a lot to be desired, but easy upgrade to solid nylon block really tightened up an already solid feel steering. PS- owners manual said that the shift lever was "located on the flower between the seats" !

Thank you for saying it - it's the story, the life of the car, what it's been through, that makes this so interesting. They were all brand new once, it's what happened after that, that makes them each unique. Thanks to everyone involved for sharing these ~ Chuck

Barnfinds make me cry ! Restore them !!!!!
@hemmingsmotornews2 күн бұрын
That is actually the plan for most of these cars. They get displayed in the barn find section when found, then a few years later they make it onto the show floor, fully restored.
@sublime9292 күн бұрын
Absolutely not. There are plenty of perfectly restored (boring) cars out there. These cars tell a story, each bump and bruise should stay. Just make them mechanically sound and preserve them as is.

The car is more like a four wheel motorcycle I’m working on the same. I just got a 31 steel body 32 grill -31 frame. Looking forward to banging it out this summer. Can’t wait. Everybody’s gotta have something to smile about . I’ve been wanting a car like that since I was 15 I’m now 64.

A good 4.8 (sonic checked, of course) block can be bored to 3.905". Has anyone used domed LS1 pistons with the stock 4.8 rods and crank in one? 312 cubes with some compression and the stock 3.27" stroke? I'll bet it would be a screamer!

The car is awesome, but can we talk about Mike for a minute? I have been watching car and hotrod shows for 30 years. I have never seen someone who can take other peoples cars and convey them to an audience like Mike. He has always found a way to make you feel the passion of the car and owner. Thank you Mike for the great cars and possibly the best experience possible.

With a small bump in compression like 11.5:1 would have more than likely put you over 500 hp. 1 full point of compression= 4% gain
