Try 1-2kg at first, good goals to work towards are 5kg then 10kg long term, a 0.5kg increase per month is plenty

This is really well done. Just installed my rings. I bought it to have a supportive role for my beginner pull up exercises, but they are so much more versatile. Question: why turning the arms outside in when pulling up? Is it perhaps to train all parts of the arms/shoulders?
@TomMorrison12 минут бұрын
Yeah pretty much! It feels nice really! And gets more range

I do the dislocates and stuff with bands every day but I'm thinking I could do the shoulder rotations almost every day with a very light weight (heavier weight maybe 2x a week)
@TomMorrison3 сағат бұрын
Yeah that’s a good plan!
@Wowurka4 сағат бұрын
I like doing it after my workout.

😂 Im doing your 'round the head weighted shoulder rotation exercises' and banded dislocates daily at the moment, I also have SMM, but a bit lapsed. Im trying to fix a bit of an ouchy shoulder at the moment to avoid the surgery I had on the other side. Will the round the head shoulder rotations cover the exercises in this short? Thanks as always Tom

Would check out our fix your shoulders video, those would be the things to start with first, the SMM drills are for placement to make sure any shoulder stuff you’re doing actually works too! Would be good to get back on it

I was literally stuck in bed from Monday until Thursday afternoon and off work all week i couldn’t even get outta bed to get to the hospital(or I would have went!!) I promise 5min after I did this I was up walking around about 80% pain free the next day I did it again and was at the movies and the grocery store. You literally saved me from being in so much pain. Thank you!

Tom, I am following your videos since last few months and have noticed improvement in my lower back pain. I am suffering from this pain since last 2 years. Recent MRI shows mild facet arthropathy at L4-L5. Any specific exercises for facet joint pain?
@TomMorrison10 сағат бұрын
Mainly focus on the muscles in your hips, lots of glute stuff, lunge variations, basically you don’t want to hang around with these types of exercises, you want to get your body stronger so that it can have the chance to calm down
@aliyaspahic11 сағат бұрын
I can hear the sound of your shoulders popping. And they’re certainly not applauding. I’d take those exercises in a smaller range of motion

There is a lot of good advices from Squat University about starting and progressing for this exercise. The best advice imo to start make this exercise with bending elevated knee. And slightly touch the floor. Change angles for straight leg its a good advice. Thank you.

Hey, Tom. I'm an old geezer - 72, but 6'3" and 110kgs. Still workout 5 days a week before 'work work' (too young to retire, eh?!) But l have had 1 left shoulder reco, and 4 on the right shoulder. (Was a wee bit active in my younger days...). I notice uou are using 10kg in this vid. Do you think l should start sets with say 2 kg, then go to 3, then 5 as l warm the old shoulders up? (I would not try a 10kg.)

Hi Tom, I purchased SMM and have a question about which approach I should take to address my hip flexibility issues. I have very tight hip flexors and abductors. Should I do SMM and this 20 minute beginner hip flexibility follow along or stick with just doing SMM? Tim
@TomMorrison23 сағат бұрын
Stick with SMM most often, ideally 4 days per week and aim to work your way up from the regressions to the full versions of everything, the exercise breakdowns help a lot with your technique! This one’s nice to add in for some bonus work too tho! Good to have things you enjoy also 💪🏼

I LOVE these overhead shoulder rotation thingies, whatever you call them. Best to alternate them in a single set, or as u are doing here?
@TomMorrisonКүн бұрын
There’s loads of ways to mix them up really! I would sometimes do 10 forwards 10 backwards on one arm then switch and do 5 continuous sets like that with no break 😄
