Blimey! Tried these exercises and I can feel the difference already. These are being added to my workout regimen. Very cool (not as cool as a hand weight in the fridge, though) to the core. Thanks 👍

Tried your side plank with the core tension prior to lifting. those are more difficult and I could definitely feel it. thanks. Slower Pallof presses also could be felt. the preloading of the band makes a difference.

Thanks for the great explanation! There's been so many times I've looked for videos that were supposed to help release tension and strengthen areas of my body but then I ended up feeling worse or getting no benefit and I'd discover later I was just going through the motions not actually engaging the area properly. I find a lot of people making videos take for granted that newbies such as myself don't have the previous experience or may not have watched other videos that were supposed to have built up to that one where we would have known proper posture or engaging our bits and bobs.

Yes this is all the stuff that held me back so much when I first started and eventually ended up to me getting injured waaaaay more than I should have because I was cheating a lot of things!

For an advanced pallof press, try laying sideways on a 45 degree hyperextension machine with your hip bones above the polster, and do the pressing motion with a weight.

What if Jenny did some rotation on the pallof press....wouldn't that work the core more?
@TomMorrison
@TomMorrison 2 күн бұрын
Pallof is anti rotation so would be a different principle, this one is covering more isometric tension strength not moving core strength 😄 still good to do tho yes!

A very long time ago I worked at a company that was owned by an Irishman named Ian. Up until now I couldn't place your accent. It reminds me of his. All though when I once told someone about him they said if he was Irish his name would have been Ey-an and not Ee-an. But I am confident that man knew how to pronounce his own name. Lol. Anyway I'm glad that you showed some core moves that I could do. I recently had a knee replacement surgery 2 weeks ago. The day after surgery I was asking my physical therapist when I can do kettlebell swings again? I'm told maybe 6 weeks after surgery but only the motion not with weight. Which, no lie, kinda saddens me. But the pallof press looks like something that I can do. Thanks for that.
@TomMorrison
@TomMorrison 2 күн бұрын
After the 6 weeks (I’d probably lean more towards 8) you’ll be able to start light things again and it’s just a case of building up, our delicate knees follow along would be a good one to check out for when you’re ready to return to exercise

@@TomMorrison I really have only been working out regularly since 2022. At my heaviest I was 358.4 lbs. I'm 5'3". If you are in the U.K. I don't know what that is in kg or how that is measured there. I've lost over 165 lbs. I didn't know it before but I ate when I was angry, sad, frustrated, etc. I ate to comfort or soothe myself. In the last 2 years I've lost an aunt, 2 friends and recently a cousin who've died. I've also ended two friendships that were toxic and honestly were never good. I don't get a runners high or endorphin boost or feel energized after working out. But working out helps me process things. It takes my mind off problems or issues. And helps me to clearly think through things. So instead of being focused on the problem I end up finding a better solution. And it's a good de-stressor. So 6 weeks without that seems like a long time to me. But I get that it was a major surgery and my body needs time to recover. I've just been wondering what can I do to help me during this time? I have started physical and occupational therapy. But other than that it's not like there's a huge amount of videos on "how to workout, or move, or what to do while recovering from one knee surgery while also preparing to have the other knee replaced as well" category. although that would be so helpful. I have a rebounder or mini trampoline. And had heard that someone recovered from ankle surgery while bouncing on one leg. And holding the injured leg over the side of the rebounder for 20 minutes a day. I didn't last a whole minute and a half doing that. So whoever was able to do that was truly strong. So I'm just tinkering with things in an attempt to see what I can do safely. The good thing is that in the last two weeks my Dr's have taken me off two medications. A day after the surgery my blood pressure kept being low. Meaning 88/52. I've had high blood pressure for 20 years. That top number was always over 150 for the majority of that time. I didn't even know there was such a thing as low blood pressure. But at the hospital and at the rehabilitation center that I was at for 10 days my blood pressure was either normal or low. So it was discovered that I no longer needed 2 of the meds I was taking for high blood pressure. So I'm counting that as a win. Btw, I apologize for the long comment. I just thought it might add some context to my situation.
