Coming from the opinion of a fitter and machinist you don't wont captive nuts, if they freeze up then few people have the know how to repair the threads. With open nut and bolts if they freeze you just angle grind them off and put a new bolt in.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve decided to go with Felco 8. I will be doing my wisterias very soon on their first use.

Hi, just been watching your winter pruning video which was very helpful. I have a very old wisteria and when we moved to this house a couple of years ago it had become quite leggy in parts . I live in rural Suffolk and the wisteria is against a brick cart lodge on an exposed sunny site where we get quite strong winds. We have had a frost today and temperatures between -2-4oC. Can I prune if there has been a frost and also does it matter if the temperatures are this low. Thank you
@TheFullyChargedGardener15 күн бұрын
Absolutely fine to go ahead and prune. Just remember to use clean, sharp secateurs.

We cut a piece of wisteria from a larger one, and it grew out of control on a large rock over the past ten years here in the US. It produced no flowers. I finally trimmed it last Summer and again just now in late December. Could I ask what you would recommend for fertilizer? I put down some phosphorous in the Summer and am planning to add more now. Is this the correct approach? Thanks very much!

Wisteria plants that are pruned regularly don’t really need much feed. If you are going to feed them - use a high potash feed. It’s important to make sure that they are watered during dry spells. Hope this helps.

Very informative and good demonstration of pruning techniques. Thankyou. Could you recommend a make of secateurs. I am not getting on with my current ones and they are not making clean cuts. I am ending up tearing the stem rather than cutting right through it. Hope you can understand what I’m trying to explain. Thanks very much.

Felco & Niwaki make some fantastic secateurs. Regardless of which you choose. It is important to sharpen them regularly and keep the blades clean. Thank you for watching 😀

11:02 Hi I started my Wisteria on a trellis on the side of the house. In unsightly this was a mistake as its goin to push the trellis of the wall. I will cut out te trellis and put wires in. My question my house is rendered are there any special screw eyes o to allow water penetrative into the building material? Thanks

I'm a professional landscaper for 30+ years and I have purchased several different brands of these little tremors because they do come in handy for certain applications. None of them on the market are worth any thing. The problem with these little ones is they're not double edged and they never cut barely anything and these by far the worst ones . I have a lot of equipment that I use on a daily basis from.Stihl and I love it. These things things are just horrible so bad. I basically throw it in the garbage.

id only buy one of these if it can cut through leylandae . i cant be fucked with revving petrol edgers! 2 batteries, chjarger and the unit.....is it going to serve me well, as my small 18v makita hedge trimmer (telescopic) does a great job on softer foilage etc. just struggles with thick leylandae branches. pain in the arse if your up the ladder.

When I'm working in the yard, I get even more protection. I cut from inside a steel cage with only a Stihl-sized hole for my saw to poke through. Just in case. No really. I'd never go out there in just shorts, a tank-top, crocs and a baseball cap. Way too dangerous. I'd have to be stupid to do that.

Great review. One criticism: in the last part of the video, going over the details-- many of which were on he far side away from the camera-- makes no sense. Next time, move the camera man or turn the machine around! Same could be said for the controls: turn the handlebars towards the camera! Thank you.

Love how stihl can lend you equipment but couldn’t give a timeframe on a mower i’d ordered and paid for all they could say was it’s not their issue and lead times change! Maybe if stihl gave their suppliers real delivery dates instead of unobtainable ones to get orders in they’d be able to avoid annoyed customers like myself!!!!! I genuinely believe stihl make nice gear but the customer service was really poor when I dealt with them. In fact embarrassing.

I appreciate it can be frustrating when delays happen.

@@TheFullyChargedGardener I think telling the franchise I ordered from one date knowing it isn’t gonna happen and letting them take money off of customers is pretty poor considering the order was back in May/June which then became August/September. It’s nothing against you but if they can supply the ‘influencers’ with the gear well ahead of time and tell suppliers to start taking orders off of people then actually be in the process of manufacturing the items and some ready to ship. For me it looks bad on stihls side if things.

Thanks for making these videos. I love watching them. I just wanted to know if I could use the hedge trimmer to trim short grass around 1" high that's growing away from the outer edge of my lawn besides only using it to trim hedges. I would also be using the other blade to trim my lawn too. Thankyou. Aloha🌴🏄♂
