I definitely understand what you mean about providing enough for your baby instead of building an over supply. An oversupply can be a blessing, but it’s SO exhausting! I had never felt so weak and tired in my entire life.

I wonder if you lightly toss the toppings/add ins in flour or cornflour- if that would help it stick to the batter and disperse more evenly? I do this with berries in cake- but not sure if it will work with egg whites and veggies/cheese- but worth a try?

Hi Lucie! I personally don't think you need to worry too much about finding a nanny that can take care of both of your children at the same time :) I have experience teaching a class of 10 three year olds and nannying for a 3 month old and a 2 year old and I found nannying much much easier! Sure, the kids were on different schedules, but it really wasn't too hard to manage. I just made sure baby's napping schedule made sense around the toddler's schedule and was able to make it work just fine. Maybe it's because I've never had the ease of caring for just one child, but I really didn't find two to be too difficult at all!

I think it's great for siblings to grow up close in age. My sisters and I were all under 5 years, and me and my middle sister are only 17 months apart. But now my oldest sister is having her second child 9.5 years after the first! Sometimes it just happens that way, and siblings are better than no siblings, plus obviously the most important thing is their health.

This is really informative. You definitely don't want to wake up in the middle of the night if you don't have to!

Absolutely, getting help from your parents is so helpful and a big bonus is they're able to, close by and willing!

I'm surprised the paternity leave there is so good actually! It's usually lower here in Australia - my best friend is pregnant and she only gets 6 weeks maternity leave through work! Mine is 16... Plus government leave is 22 weeks

I'll add to the subset comments. My DIL had SUA with her second child, and he is now a happy, healthy 14-year-old who pitches on his school baseball team, makes straight A's, and plays the piano like a champ. No problems post-partum at all!

I don’t think you can discredit how much Milo gets! My son was 2.5 when his baby brother died and he totally understood the process of pregnancy birth and then death. Now I’m pregnant with our 3rd, and he’s 3.4 almost 4 and totally understands that baby inside mama is his sister etc. they get it! We didn’t have a baby shower the second time around but we DID have a “big brother party” to initiate our son from only child to his new role, and it was so nice. I highly recommend

Have you considered giving birth with a midwife? Seems like it's not the norm in the US. In most countries in Europe at least it's a midwife unless something goes wrong, then a doctor steps in. In norway midwives are medical professionals with five years of university schooling on top of practical work.

I had my second 7 months ago. Unpopular opinion but I actually think having 2 is easier than having 1. It’s like my first just needed my second this whole time. The role of older brother mellowed him out a bit. When little brother got here my oldest just scooped him up and they became this little unit. The newborn days are a crap shoot but it can get easier.

I wonder if it's true that over time, people forget how hard it was (particularly childbirth) which is an evolutionary way of wanting to have more kids

I had unbelievable morning sickness 24/7 the entire nine months. From the moment I actually opened my eyes until they closed at night. I think because of that my labor and delivery felt effortless. From my first twinge at about 6am until actual birth at 6 oh 6pm just flew past me. Looking back I wouldn’t change a thing.

Do you mind elaborating on the statement Liz said and you referenced to it again regarding her parent’s jobs “it’s a degree of those who can’t do teach?” Do either of you believe that sentiment? Or were you saying it in more of a joking manner? I know you are so intelligent and thoughtful, so I just wanted to ask before making assumptions.

I think that phrase is just a common saying and she was using it in relation to how she feels about her parents being therapists. Not a statement about all therapists, all teachers, or anyone who educates :)

@@luciebfinkthank you for taking the time for a thoughtful response 😊. As an educator, I see how hard my colleagues and entire staff work to support students. Because of that, I’m probably too sensitive to that statement haha. I remember being told that comment by older generations when I entered college with the pursuit of education and they were trying to steer me otherwise.
