Recently MidwayUSA has been offering a 'black powder' muzzleloader Cattleman 1873, and it IS one, BUT, it has all the features of a cartridge gun, sans the cylinder. Now that made me think about old west guns, and then to my very favorite old west guns, Schofields. Why no one has duplicated this idea for them? So in my mind, I would say the cylinder is percussion, and the break open actions throws the caps clear. If you want to convert it, all you'd need is a bored out cylinder and a shorter ejection rod. What do you think?

I was going to ask about the caliber you selected. ¿You realize the AR-15 can be chambered to 5.56ᴍᴍ and still use .223, or to a dozen other calibers right? The Army is switch over to the 6.8ᴍᴍ, not sure if an AR barrel for 6.8 exists but I’m not willing to be against it.

For <100yds Low profile irons would work great, cut weight and you will be able to shoot it normally. Optics mounted on hand guards rarely (not saying never) hold zero given much hard use. I like the concept on paper but like you said this is just version 1.
