What physicists today call particles aren't the same thing as atoms. They are packets of energy in a wave and it's arbitrary, so I would say Aristotle was right. If you take the idea of a black hole, it's what he called primary matter. Something that can be divided by infinity. The atomists were simply wrong. Clever but wrong. Or take an analogy the atoms they devised was like small grains, solid and discrete, today a particle is more like the quarter of an hour on a clock. The quarter of an hour is not solid. It's discrete through space and time, but definitively not what the atomists believed in. They had to swerve in order to account for circular movement, it's got nothing to do with quantum mechanics. The randomness IS what Aristotle called primary matter. When a photon is created, it can go in an infinite number of directions, creating randomness. Or on a more macro level, small molecules will vibrate and create randomness in it's position. Randomness is potential and you never know until you it is actualized (and observed). QM is literally Aristotle's hylomorphism but with a mathematical formalism that is not suitable to philosophy.

The American founding fathers did not want a direct democracy, so they created a constitutional republic (in practice...a representative democracy). What they never wanted, however, was a tyranny of the minority - the very system they rebelled against. Unfortunately, that is what the U.S. has become. Corporations and oligarchs rule over the masses through their legally bought polititians. Those masses include the smaller land-owning and educated cititzenry that Aristotle thought would save the day.

Aristotle’s critique of indivisible magnitudes as the atomic theory then was developed, was mostly due to his refutation of a void (this is found in Book IV of The Physics by Aristotle) and that the elements of things cannot be infinite; both of which the theory asserted. Aristotle stated the indivisible as such: “My definition of matter is just this-the primary substratum of each thing, from which it comes to be, and which persists in the result, not accidentally.” - 192a30 “Whatever case you took it would be the same. The general rule is this: a thing whose substance resides in a substratum of matter can never come into being in the absence of all matter.” 278b1 “It is inevitable, too, that generation of one out of another should come to a stop, since a finite quantum cannot contain an infinity of finite quanta.” 305b19 I knew a professor who blamed the absence of an accelerated proliferation of the sciences, he meant that the Renaissance should have happened a lot sooner rather than later, if it were not for Aristotle discussing the Why things are as they are, their causes, instead of How things do what they do. I told him that this was a non sequitur and that to blame Aristotle for the Middle and Dark ages overlooks many other relevant variables, that it was due to the re-introduction of Aristotle’s works into Europe that the Renaissance happened at all. That Aristotle did not entirely agree with the atomic theory was not due to lack of sensual perception but to logic. Today, what physicists speak of as Quantum Physics is a duality of matter consisting of both particles and waves. This is what Aristotle simply called Substratum.

The only thing Aristotle might have gotten wrong is the inherent instability of oligarchy. Half the world, including the USA and most of its 'democratic' allies, are oligarchies. The other half are tyrannies.

In the current situation (oligarchy = decisions are taken by a few without asking the consent of the citizens), when those who are elected do not have the obligation to respect their electoral promises, in fact the elected elect the voters and not the other way around. In other words, you can see from the polls how many citizens will vote for certain ideas and promote them to enter the Parliament. The only concern would be to make the respective ideas known to as many citizens as possible and to give the impression that you are serious and intend to implement them. That's what all parties do. Voting is just a brick in the wall of democracy and even by voting it can be manipulated because in one round of voting you have one result, in two rounds you have another result, and if you give points to each preferred candidate it is a different result. Then it is a gross lack of understanding of the democratic mechanism to accept that once a candidate has been voted, he can do whatever he wants just because he was voted for. Outside the sphere of politics, the world proceeds differently. A company boss, when he has a problem to solve, will consult several specialists and choose one of the proposed solutions. If the chosen solution does not produce satisfactory results, he will change it quickly, because no one is a reader in the stars and only practice can validate the chosen solution, but it is important to be able to immediately change something that does not work. The manipulation works precisely because there is no immediate responsibility of those elected, only in 4 or 5 years, during which they pursue their own interests. If we could at any moment change or block their decisions when we are not satisfied with their actions, then the strategy of the elected would be different, that is, they will try to perform and will no longer be able to choose the easy way, to manipulate. It can be seen from the speech of the elected that they argue to win and not to solve problems. When you argue just to win, you don't take into account the competitors' arguments and try by all means to discredit the other competitors. And the energy put into play will be all the greater the more you have to earn after you get into office.

Democracy is when those who make decisions on your behalf have the duty to ask for your consent first. Today's republics are actually modern oligarchies where the interest groups of the rich are arbitrated by the people, that is, you can choose from which table of the rich you will receive crumbs. The "fatigue" of democracy occurs when there is a big difference between the interests of the elected and the voters, thus people lose confidence in the way society functions. As a result, poor and desperate citizens will vote with whoever promises them a lifeline, i.e. populists or demagogues. The democratic aspect is a collateral effect in societies where the economy has a strong competitive aspect, that is, the interests of those who hold the economic power in society are divergent. Thus those whealty, and implicitly with political power in society, supervise each other so that none of them have undeserved advantages due to politics. For this reason, countries where mineral resources have an important weight in GDP are not democratic (Russia, Venezuela, etc.), because a small group of people can exploit these resources in their own interest. In poor countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, etc.) the main exploited resource may even be the state budget, as they have convergent interests in benefiting, in their own interest, from this resource. It is easy to see if it is an oligarchy because in a true democracy laws would not be passed that would not be in the interest of the many. The first modern oligarchy appeared in England at the end of the 17th century. After the bourgeois revolution led by Cromwell succeeded, the interest groups of the rich were unable to agree on how to divide their political power in order not to reach the dictatorship of one. The solution was to appoint a king to be the arbiter. In republics, the people are the arbiter, but let's not confuse the possibility of choosing which group will govern you with democracy, that is, with the possibility of citizens deciding which laws to pass and which not to. The solution is modern direct democracy in which every citizen can vote, whenever he wants, over the head of the parliamentarian who represents him. He can even dismiss him if the majority of his voters consider that he does not correctly represent their interests. It's like when you have to build a house and you choose the site manager and the architect, but they don't have the duty to consult with you. The house will certainly not look the way you want it, but the way they want it, and it is more certain that you will be left with the money given and without the house. It is strange that outside of the political sphere, nowhere, in any economic or sports activity, will you find someone elected to a leadership position and who has failure after failure and is fired only after 4 years. We, the voters, must be consulted about the decisions and if they have negative effects we can dismiss them at any time, let's not wait for the soroco to be fulfilled, because we pay, not them. In any company, the management team comes up with a plan approved by the shareholders. Any change in this plan must be re-approved by the shareholders and it is normal because the shareholders pay.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we view ancient technology lately. I don’t buy into the idea that aliens built the pyramids, or that certain ancient civilizations possessed technologies more advanced than what we have today. But I do think some of the more sophisticated civilizations had a much greater understanding of the physical world and how to utilize is than we give them credit for. It's also evident that some of that knowledge got lost along the way and had to be rediscovered much later. And I think the examples in this video are probably just the tip of the iceberg.

"Forget around and find out". There's a reason Aristotle's "Politics" isn't taught in America's educational institutions. But by now, even the most untutored is starting to figure out our republics are oligarchies (even if they don't know the term or what it means).

Is a Kelptocracy a type of Oligarchy? Oligarchy perfectly describes the USSR, but in the USSR officials got punished for selling government assets under the table. In the modern day UK it's totally legal to sell government assets to banks and take dividens.

It's incredibly fascinating how much people really knew back then and how much they were able to accomplish. I think one of my favorite instances of ancient technology comes from a description of a temple of Dionysos with an automaton. Here is the quote from Heron of Alexandria's Peri Automatopoietekes. "The movable case shows, at its upper part, a platform from which arises a cylindrical temple, the roof of which, supported by six columns, is conical and surmounted by a figure of Victory with spread wings and holding a crown in her right hand. In the center of the temple Bacchus is seen standing, holding a thyrsus in his left hand, and a cup in his right. At his feet lies a panther. In front of and behind the God, on the platform of the stage, are two altars provided with combustible material. Very near the columns, but external to them, there are bacchantes placed in any posture that may be desired. All being thus prepared, the automatic apparatus is set in motion. The theater then moves of itself to the spot selected, and there stops. Then the altar in front of Bacchus becomes lighted, and, at the same time, milk and water spurt from his thyrsus, while his cup pours wine over the panther. The four faces of the base become encircled with crowns, and, to the noise of drums and cymbals, the bacchantes dance round about the temple. Soon, the noise having ceased, Victory on the top of the temple, and Bacchus within it, face about. The altar that was behind the God is now in front of him, and becomes lighted in its turn. Then occurs another outflow from the thyrsus and cup, and another round of the bacchantes to the sound of drums and cymbals. The dance being finished, the theater returns to its former station. Thus ends the apotheosis."

In the temple of alexandria they also had a horse statue that would be mechanically ‘beheaded’ and then reassemble itself. And also a chariot that traversed the space airborne. I believe its certain that there has been a conspiracy in modern academia to censor out such things, including european genetics and herritage in order to justify post modern indoctrination. I believe that age is ending. The time to rediscover what they omit is now

The reason the Greeks couldn't imagine sub-atomic particles is because in their model, that's self contradictory. The reason sub atomic particles exist is because they people that discovered what we call the "atom" were too hasty in thinking they'd found the smallest particle. The fact that we've subsequently discovered smaller particles proves that the so-called atom was misnamed but nobody wanted to change the name. At the beginning of the 18th century, we knew the world was round and we knew it rotates. This we knew it had to poles- north and south. We also knew that compasses point north. If an explorer used a compass to go so far north that the needle starts spinning and moving any direction reads as south, then he would record that he found the north pole. If a decade later another explorer using celestial navigation found that the magnet north pole isn't the geographic north pole and travelled further north, nobody would say "who could have predicted that you could travel north of the north pole?" You can't anymore than you can find a particular that's smaller than the smallest particle.
