Its BOTH bad luck AND incompetence and both compound each other. I don't agree about adams or Williams. in a well coached non dysfunctional system they are both still able to and should hit 900 yard and 5-7td seasons given a wr2 target share. Multiple guys didn't hit cause their washed like tyron but MOST players are under performing because of bad leadership, predictable play calling, lack of accountability. If one of the Harbaugh bros or shanahan or oconnell or vrabel or mcvay or even McDaniels came here this offense would not be capped at 24 points for example. And someone like sauce an elite cover corner, wouldnt be sitting in zone to be exploited by tight ends and power running backs. He would instead be in near permanent shadow coverage on the opposing teams best wr. So that's the incompetence. The luck comes in with injuries(top 5 most injured team over the past decade, especially at key positions)and recent good player unexpected regression (sauce, breece, zuerlein).

Ok what are we doing here? Are we talking about owners or coaches as the issue? Rich K was a Hess hire . It's apples to oranges. You have to be brain dead not to see and understand Johnson's business model. Johnson sees there is more money to make losing than there is with winning. Johnson brought in Gase to tank for Zack Wilson. You know Zack the nephew of business partner who created , made and sold Johnson his team jet plane. Why do you think they won that game taking them out of play for Trevor Lawrence or the 1st pick. No way in hell would he never here the end of it if he took Wilson with the 1st. Wilson got his money to open up his franchises . Johnson is about making money off of hope with top draft picks and big name players. Being the fan you say you are I won't name them. Johnson could care less about the playoffs , Superbowls never mind winning games. He does not like paying performance bonuses. Why do you think Aaron Rodgers left all that money on the table for guaranteed money! Do you truly think it was because he wanted to give the team more money to bring in more players to win a super bowl?😅😅😅😅 Rogers knew he wasn't the same player he knew how the Johnson's work. He took the money and ran. This team's identity has been a smash mouth football team who will run it down your throat and play good defense. So why bring in Rogers when you know how bad it could be because of Farve? He knew it wasn't going to work out he just wanted to sell those jerseys he just wanted to put those asses in the seats.

He knows he did deserve to play in the NFL after what he did in 2023. He was just another Saleh crony hire. How much of Woody's money did Saleh urinate away on Carl Lawson ? The same can be said of CJ Mosley. Woody fired Saleh now out of fear Saleh would have gone on a mini winning streak to salvage the season and his job. This whole sorry episode will at least teach Joe Douglas a lesson in how to run an NFL Front Office. The question will be will Douglas get another chance because he certainly won't be working for the Jets next year. Next week's game against the Colts will be a must watch. Not for the football but to see how the fans torch when the first pass is dropped. The Paper Bags will be out in Full Force.

I would like Jets to build coaching team next season and bring some prospects and get rid of veterans. QB in first round is not necessity in next season I think. Build up staff first. Honestly it is irrelevant if we are 6:11 team with Taylor as QB1 or Rodgers, just do not draft QB in first round and put him on the field and tell him "You must win now!" Great channel by the way.
@slowrunner143 күн бұрын
The problems occur at the top starting with the owner, then the Gm, and finally the Coaching staff. Especially Saleh, who never held his players accountable. Time after time the team has been in the top five in penalties, and JD never improved the offensive line, which also suffered a lot of injuries. In addition, JD, most importantly missed on his QB. The Jets failed to develop Darnold and missed on Zach Wilson. Then JD brought in a guy QB passed his prime, Rodgers, who suffered a very bad injury 4 plays into the season last year.

I know your sub-count isn't large but, you do a solid job my friend!
@jimglatthaar40533 күн бұрын
You raise some good points, but the problem is really a Jets' culture problem. The Jets go through the same cycle every 3-4 when they seem to think they are "1 player away," they make a move, it backfires and the Jets must start the next rebuild. Contrast the Jets approach with teams that have successfully rebuilt over the past decade: Cincinnati, Detroit, SF, etc. all stuck with the rebuild until all of a sudden it jelled. The Jets never jelled. Also, I recall one of your podcasts in which you noted in 2022 & 2023, the Jets had incredibly good luck avoiding injuries on the defense and the Jets couldn't count on it to continue indefinitely. You were right. But injuries on defense is something most teams have to deal with and the same is true for the Jets this year.
@PeterAllen093 күн бұрын
Totally agree about the "1 player away" fallacy. The franchise consistently bills itself as being a player away, and it's usually the QB. I'd prefer them to just get the franchise to a point of competence. That's what I see when I look at the well-run franchises. They're at least consistently decent, competent, if not great. Then when they get lucky to find a good QB, they're immediately ready to go. They don't have to then build an offensive line, get skill position players, offensive coaches, etc.
@mja913523 күн бұрын
"Culture" has the most overused and least understood term in football
@cc3523 күн бұрын
That's because the "1 player away" motto is the lazy approach to a rebuild that teams hope would be the short cut to relevancy. It's very rare that 1 player especially out of college could cover up all the warts and deficiencies of a team. Mahomes is close to that but even he is not that. KC had a good culture in place already with Reid and Alex Smith. Mahomes just took it to the next level. It wasn't like he walked into a dumpster pile like the Jets or the Panthers. Once the media starts the "1 player away" battle cry, the fans buy into it, start protesting and there goes the whole rebuild process with the impatience and calling for people's heads the next step.

Definitely better. Carr had 2 things going for him that really would have put us in a better position. First is that he was cut before the previous season ended and could be signed before free agency. We could have had our biggest problem solved before free agency even started! Second is that we keep 2 second round picks and the pick swap if we sign Carr. Those 2 second round picks loom large in explaining why we have no depth and little in the way of blue chip young talent. Plus at 13 and with out needing a qb, we could have traded down in the draft and gotten more picks.

@THI5GUYY3 күн бұрын
Personal opinions about Rodgers aside, the problems run way deeper than just a QB. The organization throws bandages on a wound that needs stitches. They think that getting big name players from other teams will make the coaches better and it didn't work. The Jets have had horrible coaches since Rex Ryan, and he was mediocre at best. Also we are delusional as Jets fan because we kind of have to be. We wouldn't watch if we didn't give ourselves false hope....that's where a lot of the hype comes from.

@DanArchie-r9q3 күн бұрын
@@THI5GUYY Unfortunately in the case of this QB, he "brought" with him an awful offensive coordinator, an awful back up QB in Boyle, and 5 other players, some of whom were good and some of whom weren't. Additionally, he did nothing but be a distraction when he couldn't play last year, did nothing to help build any sort of team or comradery when he didn't show up for required mini-camp or play any pre-season games and did everything he could to undermine the coach until ultimately the coach was fired (not just due to Rodgers but he certainly contributed). So, yeah, Jets going to Jet but I think you glossed over a lot of problems by simply saying "the problems run way deeper than just a QB."
