the bright white is what people need to have on high beams. It helps keep you alert and stops melotonin from releasing to make you sleepy. Those more yellow softer colors arent as safe for night time driving because it allows you to become sleepy. I changed out my yellow high beams to white because of this.

I’ve never really thought of a diesel heater ( probably a man thing ), but I’m seriously getting over the cold. They look reasonably priced too. I’m just a real lite sleeper, I reckon I’d need a half bottle of whiskey to knock me out, but I’m guessing with the other option in your quiz I’d never be getting any sleep. 🤦🏽🤣

Great review mate! I did want to ask about the air mattress. It's really my only concern with this swag. Does it deflate overnight?

Hey mate, haven’t had it deflate on me yet. It does get really cold though if you don’t insulate underneath it. I’ve just grabbed some foam matting from Anaconda and that seems to do the trick.

Now a couple of years later, it would be interesting to see a comparison of the Darche 450 (now $399) and the Kings Folding Fire Pit ($89 in a bundle that includes the trivet and grill). To my eye, the only difference is the Darche comes with a cast iron trivet and the Kings has a powder-coated steel trivet. The rest of it I'm sure came out of the same factory. The value for money argument may be quite different now.

Not wrong mate. I’ve been seeing more and more of these fire pits coming out and thinking exactly the same thing. Might be time to revisit this one

Best review of all the reviews I've seen on this swag. I've watched around 11 now but yours was the best of em. I've come back to write this comment plus hope to help others who might go looking elsewhere for info, don't it's not needed, he covers it (bar cost, only a few did). After about 3-4 hours digging, reading and watching clips I’ve doubled back to check some info and see if it's all correct to what other YT channel reviews have reported. The answer is yes, and more. The main thing I came back for was to reassure myself on seam seal tape (which Out N About mentions, others don't, more below). @OutNAboutAustralia was the only reviewer to mention seal tape (that I saw). Thumbs up and thank you! Swag companies don't often seem to mention it but maneuver around with things like a proofed kind of weave, rip deterred and some sort of coating (more in the video by Off Track). Coated? Canvas? Seal tape? After buying a swag is where lessons come, please seasoned professionals chime in here! This swag seems to be pretty waterproofed without internal drips, however, Perth 4WD and Camping has a clip where he mentions condensation but he did setup during rain which was on and off. I note in the reviews I watched (specifically Off Track) coating of swags can be misleading, you want to look for “coated” (didn’t know this but he found 23Zero is coated but Darche doesn’t appear to mention if theirs is or not). OutNAbout specifically mentions that this single swag does have complete rain covers and waterproof tape sealing which I confirmed on the Vicoffroad website. For those who want some extra info, a previous competitor in the air swag market has been the Dometic Pico, reviews said price comparison plus quality have the San Hima as an updated unit, making it a much better selection. I’m not here being paid to comment, I’ve just been doing research this evening and taking notes as I go and the above is what I found. I've no affiliation and not bought a new swag ever (I was gifted one (thankfully)). I've camped (in tents as well) but not a seasoned professional, hence why I want to do research before splashing cash. I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a double. Anyways, time for me to stop rambling, and before I go, @OutNAboutAustralia great video review! I found it funny as you spoke about the pressure release valve it seemed you had some restriction issues with a fly or something in your mouth, incredible timing mate 😛 Cheers for a great review bloke 🤙 PS. How is it going all these months on? Have you used it again or in Winter yet?

Thank you very much for your video. I am about to purchase this awning with the side walls. May I ask how many walls does this awning and walls package come with? on the website it says it only comes with 1 wall, that's not possible right? 1 wall can't cover all sides of the awning?
@OutNAboutAustralia23 күн бұрын
Hey mate, it comes as a single "kit". There's 5 walls in total that zip and velcro together to form 1 full wall if that's the way you want to set it up.

Hey mate, I have a question. I am building a tradie 7x4 trailer into a camper. I already have a kickass battery box with a 100amp lithium and the kickass 25 amp bc-dc charger with solar input in a Dmax with smart alternator. For the trailer I bought the Victron 12/12-30 orion non isolated dcdc charger, Victron 100/20 solar controler and the victron shunt monitor. I will probably put a 200 amp lithium in the trailer. The question is what do I run to the tow bar to power the trailer considering I've already run the "Blue" wire to the ute second battery? Local bloke wants to run a redarc relay straight back to an anderson.

You might have to put some weight in the bag when you set the chair up. I have one of the chairs and you have to be careful around fires especially… it’s that light it only needs a gust of wind to tip it over and if you’re around a campfire there’s a fair chance Murphy will turn up and the chair will end up in the fire. I normally put a small log in the bag as a precaution…btw it’s a great chair

Thanks Rick, I actually had that thought when I was sitting around the fire the other night. I'll definitely be weighing it down with something whenever I get up like you suggest.

I've had the Darche for a few years now and not a fan. Doesn't get enough air underneath so the fire is never great. Friends have got a large folding square aluminium one and it's awesome.
@OutNAboutAustraliaАй бұрын
I’ve been having similar problems lately. The trivet in the bottom doesn’t seem to let enough air through. I’ve taken it out and it seems to have fixed it a little.
@wkndcrewАй бұрын
@@OutNAboutAustralia yeah we started that way and now put the base grill back in to try to get airflow underneath. Sort of works but the cone shape of the fire-pit just encourages ash to funnel to the bottom, blocking any oxygen. The only true success we’ve had is when we use really good quality wood. The other issue is it just doesn’t give out much heat due to its size. The one our friends use is one of the large square mesh folding pits and I was shocked how much heat it put out, plus pack down size is amazing! Will sell my Darche for one 😊 Great video of yours BTW, thanks for the comparisons 👍

Thanks for the video - can I ask how or what you are connecting to the inverter, and how are you doing that? Are you running all 240 volt plugs etc? Thanks mate
@OutNAboutAustraliaАй бұрын
For this setup it was only being used intermittently, so plugged into with extension cords, but if it was going to be a permanent setup it’d need to have a built in transfer switch to change over from mains to inverter power.
@TheAssociatesLiveАй бұрын
@@OutNAboutAustralia Thanks for that - so you would run an extension lead to the power point on the exterior of the camper to run 240 plugs etc?
@OutNAboutAustraliaАй бұрын
@@TheAssociatesLive that can work, but there can sometimes be protection issues with RCDs and Circuit Breakers depending on the inverter you are running. You'll need to check whether your inverter has suitable RCD protection for this setup. In this video the owners were just running a lead from the inverter to what they wanted to power.
