Have to agree with other comments. Just because you can, does not mean you should set up camp right in front of Skull Rock. Shame on you!

I was up there in the year 2000 taking the backside tourist route. Always wondered what the goat trail was like. Thanks for posting such a detailed video of what it is really like. There are so many spots there where the exposure is terminal and definitely not for your average hiker. Only for the experienced and fearless. I would never take the risks that you guys did especially going back down. Happy with the tourist route and agree about the view from the top.

I can’t believe some people think it’s okay to set up camp right next to Skull Rock! That’s such a unique spot that should be available for everyone to enjoy, not turned into a personal campsite.
@xplor_adventure3 күн бұрын
That’s exactly what it is… a campsite with fire pit and everything. People used to have bonfires inside the cave because the rock is all burned. We were gone the next morning before anyone arrived and didn’t see a single soul.

Beautiful lake - and nice to hear your experiance with the HOKA's. I also am a big Saloman shoe person, I have been looking into HOKA's, your video is getting me closer to pulling the trigger. If I may ask, which models did you choose?
@xplor_adventureАй бұрын
Thanks! I think if you’re doing long distances you’ll enjoy the Hokas too. I can go 10-12 miles just fine with my Saloman’s but beyond that my feet get pretty sore. I wanted something really plush with lots of cushion so I went with the Stinson 7 trail running shoe. Jamie went with the Speed Mafate 7. My friend ended up getting the Speedgoats and he liked those too. They have a pretty cool shoe finder online where you can plug in what you like and it will make recommendations.

I hike the Uintas almost every week. I've put in 255 hikes and 4,300 miles over the past 5 years. The Uintas were carved out by glaciers and the terrain is very rocky and wet. I've tried almost every brand of hiking boot, and in my opinion, Hokas are the very best that I've used in the Uintas. The extra cushioning has kept my feet from hurting while hiking on the very rocky ground.

@xplor_adventure2 ай бұрын
You know, that’s a very good question. I’m not sure if it’s been re-geared. We bought it with the lift and 35’s a couple years ago. It doesn’t seem overly sluggish so it might be. We re-geared our previous Land Cruiser and it made a difference.

Follow us on our journey to prepare for the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim trail - or our 2024 misogi! This Highline hike is a training hike and was inspired by Michael Easter's book _The Comfort Crisis_ About *_The Comfort Crisis_* Michael Easter’s _The Comfort Crisis_ challenges us to break free from our modern comfort zones and experience discomfort as a way to grow stronger, more resilient, and more alive. One powerful idea from the book is the concept of a "misogi"-an intense challenge that stretches us beyond what we think we're capable of. Here at **Xplor Adventure**, we’re helping people find their own misogi by inspiring them to get off the couch, take on the outdoors, and embrace the kind of challenges that lead to real personal growth. Ready to start your journey? Let us know in the comments below what you plan to do! Even if it's as simple as just going camping for one night if you've never been camping. We technically started in Fairview and drove south and then explored some of the side trails along Skyline. We exited at Mayfield but there was still more to explore and we want to get back and explore the southern half. You’ll be able to do it all in a Rubicon!
