I tried to get out of going as I had not visited any where since my husband died but once there, I was so pleased to see this garden, and I know my husband would have loved to see it. It was a perfect day even if a bit busy as such a lot of people have been waiting to see what it looked like. Toby, Phil's dog felt the heat and I think he preferred hill walking with Phil. I go hope to get to see how it looks next spring or early summer. Beningbrough will certainly attract more visitors and I am lucky it is quite near to me. Thank you so much for your kind comments. Thank you Brenda. No it is not my dog it belongs to Phil ( the " Hill Walker" part of the family and his wife) I would love one just like Toby. He was a rescue dog and quite old now even though he doesn't look it. My parents always had two dogs and a cat when my sister and I were at home and I had a blue budgerigar back then called Peter but always thought I would get a dog one day. However, because we went away a lot, I felt it was not OK until we stopped at home more. I have though about getting a cat but my garden birds would not be happy with a cat in the garden. @@chaldon2viewJ84M that was lovely. Thanks for sharing. I had dogs my whole life. Our kids loved them too. But like You said it’s hard to have a dog when we go out so much. I have one cat. She is 16 and one Parakeet and 2 Tarantulas. I’ve had parekeets are a kid and since 2008. I don’t think I will get a new one when she goes to rainbow bridge. Love her but alot of work cleaning numerous times a day. Have a great weekend. I hiked alone today. And took a terrible fall. It knocked the wind out and no doubt I will be bruised. OUCHY!! Dear Brenda, You must be more careful but I admire the way you get out and an gout as nature is a good healer. I always said my sign is Capricorn as I was born on 16th January and from being young would tackle any walk up hill and down... like a goat...Sadly as we get older it isn't always possible and after my back op. about 4 years ago now, I am left with a lot of balance problems but when my husband was alive he was always with me so I always felt safe. Now I am afraid of falling when I am on my own and do not feel that safe with a walking stick either and have now got a walking aid that I can put in the boot of the car and I do feel much better with it. In the house I am not too worried as we are carpeted but even so, I have had some nasty falls but not a bad as the few I have had outside. My legs are fine and I am never tired of walking but without warning I just cannot keep my balance and without the walking aid I would just fall, left, right or in any direction without warning. One of the many things the back operation left me with but it took away the pain so I am grateful for that. You have had some lovely animals and pet Brenda and I still think about getting a cat but for now I will feed the wild birds. Enjoy every minute and I hope you have a lovely weekend. @@chaldon2viewJ84M hi Julie, oh my goodness so sorry about all Your falls. It’s a terrible helpless feeling. I’m still bruised from last weeks fall but so thankful I didn’t break any bones. You have been through so much. My Son asked if there is a way I can let him know where I am. Just found out on All Trails App there is a feature to send Live where I am. A wonderful feature. I know as I get older I’m a bit more concerned on trials I’m not familiar with. Also some places I have been homeless encampments that were abandoned but that makes me very uneasy. I have friends who say aren’t you scared of the Coyotes. I say NOPE I’m more worried about running into someone who is questionable. Twice I have run into drunks. That was very unsettling when your alone. Please be safe out there. Do you have any friends or family members who will hike with you? Nature is therapy for both you and I. Your in my prayers. Thank you dear Linda. I am so pleased you like my short video as I didn't think I would ever get to make one again. When Phil and his wife arranged to see me that weekend they didn't know the new garden would be open that weekend. As Beningbrough Hall is quite near where I live they suggested we all go on the Saturday afternoon. I am ashamed to say I really tried to make excuses for not going, but they insisted and how pleased I was when we got there. I missed my husband as I know how much he would have liked it there and it was strange without him but I managed to take enough footage to put a short video together and Phil, who like to take photos not movie, offered to let me use some he had that he took that afternoon to use in the video as I didn't take as much footage as I usually do. The garden was packed as everyone wanted to see it as many of us knew it as the Italian Garden and now it had been re-invented to a garden that was so different. It really is wonderful what they have done and will attract more visitors. I will try to go back next year and on my own when it is quieter. Toby is a rescue dog and quite old, although he doesn't look it. He is loveable and so gentle but after a couple of hours he was getting rather hot so we decided to make our way out before everyone made a move and we did get to the ice-cream kiosk before it closed. I am so pleased I went as it is the first time I have been anywhere in the last 18 months. Nothing will ever be the same, I know that, but I have made a start. Thank you dear friend for your kind words of help and understanding over those months. You have helped so much in such a way at times when I was feeling so very low. Many thanks Tomotugu for viewing. Yes, it is a lovely National Trust property, quite near where I live so I have been many times over the years. The link is worth reading as it tells you the work that has gone into reinventing their garden and I will try to get back next year and hope it has coped with our winter. We do not get Typhoon like you and I hope they are not too strong where you live and you stay safe. I have had some very strong winds this July and August in North Yorkshire and other parts of the UK with reports that they might cause some trees and property damage. It was not very nice to hear the winds at night hoping they had passed without causing damage and I was pleased when they stopped being so strong. It is nice taking a walk at ones own pace and stopping to take a closer look at what we come across. I am hoping we have a lovely Autumn over here as last years was not good at all. Hi Steve, this is the nearest NT to where we have lived for many years so my husband and I have been a few times over the years. It is interesting just now with their new reinvented gardens so I wonder what will be next. We saw their Pergola and always said we would go back but sadly my husband and didn't make it and he would have loved to see the Pergola doing well and this new garden which is much larger than it looks in my video. It was too crowded on that day but I an so pleased I went. I am so pleased Jill liked the water lilies as I love the ones they have at Burnby Hall Garden but could not get a parking space when I tried to visit about six weeks ago. I noticed there was a water lily in the large, white bowl Toby drank out of so perhaps all the others will have a water lily in flower in them next year. I hope to go back to see. As for the music, it is one of my favourite songs so thanks for the link as I had forgotten who sang it first. I enjoyed hearing them again and it was lovely to hear them. I play a lot of " easy listening" music on the piano when I get time these days as the classics are hard on my old fingers but most of the modern music on TV and radio puzzles me these days as I just don't get it at all 🤔 Thanks for your kind comments Steve, I see you and Jill have been getting out and about to some lovely places again this year. Dear Helena, like you I am a night owl and feel I can get more done then but wake up very tire as it is. It was a great visit to see this garden and only our Yorkshire winters will let us know what plants have coped with it. I real do hope it is a success as it has taken many people to work on it and I hope that when you have time you will go to the link I have put in. I was so happy to find it and what a task, and risk they have all taken. I will be back! I will leave it until it has chance to mature , it all depends on if I still have the car. However my garden has looked good this summer, once the rain dried up. Other than the lawns, some pruning and some of the larger shrubs I have managed to look after most of it myself with the help of garden tools to help keep my balance. I have also done a lot of weeding this year as well! I will try to put a video on when I have time as I have taken a lot of footage over the year of the garden and our lovely feathered friends. Thank you Carmen I also loved the Otters as they were so loveable and I saw one otter carrying grass into their indoor area so I wonder if she had any baby otters in there. I did miss the ducks and geese that were missing as they have a lot of different ones there, but they had to keep them safe as the bird flu was bad that October so they were all but a few kept in isolation until it was safe to return them to their pools. Thank you for this kind message Linda. I am coping a little better but life will never be the same and I do not seem to have time to get on KZbin as much as I used to. I do find gardening helps and like you, do not put my garden gloves on. I do hope you have got over the nasty poisoning you have had. I have been lucky not to get something like that. This late spring I was weeding and came across a wild rambling rose that have make its way into my back border. It must have been there since last autumn as it was making itself at home! and as I pulled it out one long stem wrapped around my left wrist and scratched it quite a lot causing it to bleed. I wish I had put the left garden glove on that day but I cannot use the secateurs with a glove on my right hand. I have not got out much but I drive out and get my shopping in every week but that is all. My balance problem, caused by my spine op. over 4 years ago is so bad as time now I decided to get a walking aid after advice from others with the same problem. I do not feel safe walking on my own now and realise how much I relied on my husband when visiting gardens etc. I had some dear close family up to stay last week end. I have no one close that can pop in for an hour and they live way south of me but visit when they can and they suggested we all go to see a new garden quite near. I really didn't want to go but they insisted it would do me good to get out again. I was so pleased I went as it was a fine sunny afternoon. I took my camera with me but missed my dear husband so much. I took some video whilst there and I know he would have loved seeing that new garden. I will edit the footage and hope to put it on my channel soon. It was for kind and thoughtful of you dear Linda to send me this message. I miss not going on KZbin like I used to and hope I will soon be back more often to see my friends videos and to hear lovely songs. Hi Geoff, I know what you mean as we went to see The Mary Rose, that sunk in Henry Vlll time, I think and had just been found and brought to the surface. It was not long after they put her open to the public and there was sea water around and they were spraying her all the time to stop any recay forming. I have been lucky as I cannot swim so do not like a trip out at sea but I do not mind the ferry trips to different islands in Scotland and I have never felt sick on them. I follow close family who have a boat with his daughter and her future husband. They keep it in Gosport Marina and they always tell be where they will be sailing on a weekend ay this time of the year or if they have entered a race. I lke to follow them when I can but via the computer with the help of www.marinetraffic.com who usually find a boat by its name especially if they are sailing or racing in the Solent. Takes my mind off thibgs for a while as well. Hope you are getting about more.
