This is one of the best demonstrations of the Dowelmax that I have seen. I refer back to this video when I haven't used my Dowelmax in a while.

Hi Paul, what shellac and lacquer did you use? My brother is helping me fix the surface of my husbands board but used something that didn't leave it smooth. Thank you in advance. Carmen

Nice project Paul. The painting would have driven me absolutely crazy. I'm glad that you overcame the challenges of breaking pieces with the CNC and adjust your materials and methods to make a successful project. It looks incredible. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the shoutout Paul. I appreciate it. Once again, the lack of emails from KZbin made me miss seeing this video but I'm here now. Better late than never. I like your version of the sled and I have to admit that I was wondering about the double mitre bars but then I realized that this is your version of the sled and you have made it for a specific purpose and from what I can see, that sled will serve you well. That double mitre bar setup definitely provides a higher level of stability. Great work sir and an awesome video.

Nice review Paul. I really like the mini "drill" chuck and the ability to use it for blade entry holes is a bonus for anyone who cuts fretwork. I agree with you that it would be nice for the power and the speed adjustment to be on the same side. Even better would be for it to be in the same switch but as you said, it's a minor issue. Great review sir. Looks like a nice little tool.

I miss the days when KZbin would send out an email to notify subscribers of new video content. How has this video been here for a year and I haven't seen it? Nice overview of the tool Paul. Looks like it will serve you well. Heading to the review video now.

Not sure if you put the Allen screw in the adapter and tighten it down on your video. For those that have reverse, if that screw is not tight, it will unscrew itself. Please add that to your video for safety.

The wrench is nice but not needed, neither is heating. Especially for 3 connections. You can buy 2 nozzles of your choice for half of the big set. Although you can only use one. I chose to place a 90* fitting and a wide multi-hole nozzle on mine. And loc-line does sell the hose in black as well as grey, besides the blue.

What software do you use to drive your CNC router? I have a couple free things that I can make work and I have used Fusion360 but the learning curve is so steep for as little as I end up using it. :-(

AT, my CNC is a Onefinity Woodworker. I use V-Carve Pro by Vectric to drive it. While it is a bit pricey it does everything I need it to do. www.vectric.com/products/vcarve/ I use this software for the design and it will also generate the G-Code to drive the CNC. I have tried Fusion 360 and like you I found the learning curve too steep. Let me know if you have any other questions.... [email protected]

@@paulsmessyworkshop - Thank yo for the response. I have looked into V-Carve. For what I have done so far with my tiny 3018 router, it just wasn't worth the cost. I have a friend who uses it and really likes it. Something to think about for the future. :-)

I think this video is the BEST demonstration of the DowelMax! Because Paul shows drilling EACH side of a joint. Most others just show drilling ONE side of the joint, assuming you know how to drill the other side. Thank you for the great demonstration, showing all of us at a rate we can understand!!

Those lips are really nice. I like that. Been using these for a little while and I've noticed they don't even get slightly warm. In fact, I've changed bits after a few hours, up to ten even, and i have noticed they were actually cooler then room temperature. My other bits heat up but not these.
