On all of my numerous SoV playthrough Forsyth always managed to overshadow Lukas (despites my best efforts to keep Lukas strong) so I dont really understand how he can be considered as worst unit when well... Atlas exist

I just started engage a bit ago and i do agree with you the combat is good. Its unfortunate that its coming off the heels of 3H which had a great narrative. The dragon aspect of 3h built up slowly to a reveal, whereas everyone is worshipping you as the divine dragon the second they see you in Engage and everyone just falls in line. I am having fun with it though! With minimal spoilers I can just say I am currently at the point where I'm collecting a new set of emblems after meeting a certain father daughter combo.

I actually don't think Sophia is worse than Roy. Sophia is just a tiny pebble that you run over, Roy is one of the biggest roadblocks in his entire game. Especially in an iron man setting. Plus Sophia gets you an automatic guiding ring, a very sorely needed one at that. And she can help you get other desert items. But I get the point her stats are extremely poor in a very fast past game. Consider this question: between the two units, Roy and Sophia, which could you get to tier 2 lvl 20 faster? The answer is going to be Sophia every time. She is outclassed by Raigh and other mages but I still think she has a better training trajectory than Roy. Although Roy does support lance, so I guess he has that one consolation.

Anna is a WMD in Engage and is almost mandatory in Maddening, wild for you to say she has problems (except if you keep her in axe fighter instead of leveraging the obscene magic stats), but Jade, I agree. Honorable mentions for my worst unit candidate (on maddening) would be Alfred for having a damage reduction skill which is either win-more in lower difficulty or too unreliable in high difficulty to matter, Lapis for having pretty bad damage even with stat investment, Celine for the 900iq gimmick of split str mag growth on a unit that is skewed towards magic with no defensive spread to hit in melee to make use of said spread stat, and uhhhh Boucheron because his name is funny

in engage : etie as a warrior, fogado as cupido, and anna as royal knight. but yeah Alear drop everyone after he/she had the Wille Glanz

Really would have never thought of Jade as the worst unit for Engage. She was a powerhouse in my run and one of my most dependable units, i gave her Ike and she could basically tank anything. Really the only times i can remember her dying were from unfortunately timed enemy crits. I thought for sure he was houng to say one of the early route guys like clanne, framme, etie, or boucheron. Idk maybe i played the game wrong but she was like a top 3 pick for me.

Id like to argue for engage pannette. Its so easy to max oit crit on her with her personal passive and ike just synogisiing perfectly on her. Get chain guard for corrin on her and literally wity wrathe vantage and the shear ease of crit she has. She easily solos maps with chain guard protecting her from chain attack chip. Its honestly scary i wont lie. That and while maybe not for combat but a similar reason to why you chose alear... hortensia. One of the strongest support units in the series. Just a chance to not use up any staff ise is too powerful xD its kinda silly plus the staff range she gets. Yeah she was a surprisingly strong support

I do still find it funny when i see people argue anna in engage being bad. Jade is just sadly existing in a game that gives you better tank units but anna... it does take some invetment. And especially maddening where grinding is unlocked a lot later... isnt easy. But when she no class growths included has 50% magic, dex, and speed growth. That alone is worth the respec even if admittedly awkward at where you get her. You put her into sage and that magic growth becomes 80% which in maddening is 8 guaranteed growth points per ten levels. 100% if you have the dlc and tiki which when paired with her speed and dex is... honestly kinda insane xD Jade however... i mean, pannette exists. Her passive means she wants to not be at max. Put ike on her and she becomes tanky, WHILE also dishing massive damage and crits in the process. Jade just sadly doesnt get a real chance to shine as sadly theres just someone who does what she tries to do but better

Yeah, Marisa is pretty hard to keep alive, but she was also the Assassin who got the One Hit Kill Crit against the Demon King in my run. I won't deny, she required SO MANY TRIP through the training tower to get to that point!

I think for sov leon and alm have arguments. Alm almost, at least to me, functions as the games jagen in his route, even though his bases arent as good as a traditional one. But he also has really good growths AND gets the killer bow. Only thing is his res which is def bad

In terms of GAMEPLAY and Visuals, Engage is the best Fire Emblem ever made, despite the weak narrative. In terms of History, I think it's 3 Houses, but I really didn't like so much the art style, gambit system and the fact that everyone can use almost any weapon without triangle system. (And both games have masterpiece OST)

But the story was sooooo boring The characters were sooooo boring Many of the characters are one dimentional, sometimes goofy and many of them have such out of place designs. The game felt like it was made for kids, in contrast to older titles that often fekt quite mature. The somniel, albeit also not great, was an improvement over FE3H Combat graphics, map design and gameplay wise, best Fire Emblem imo I've played 3 houses 9 times, can't finish my second run of engage.

When i did a 3 Houses playthrough for my mom Ashe ended up being her favorite character so i deployed him often. But, he would get incredibly stat screwed on his level ups. To the point that him saying "Is this some kind of joke?" became his catchphrase because he got 2 stat ups on his levels constantly

I love this game. It's not exactly meant to be the most groundbreaking game in the series, it's just meant to be a silly little celebration of the franchise's history, and for that I can respect it.

That was an amazing dedication there. Glad we made it through.

Hey Fire EmBros, for the most part completely disagree with all your points outside of that the designs for engage are too bright/don't fit FE aesthetic. Engages, art, character design, world building, dialogue(for the most part) and story are all absolute dogshit. The skill inheritance system is by far one of the worst systems in FE and is so horribly balanced they introduced a whole new system in an update just for it to be useable. Also lets call it for what it is whether it's 3H or the older games people wanted to keep units alive because they grew attached to that character. How can anyone get attached to these characters when they look/act/sound like dogshit? I have beaten engage maddening about 3-4 ish and have never hade the desire to go back like other titles like 3H, conquest or FE 7. Overall engage is dogshit and the faster it goes away the better and hopefully the next FE is nothing like this dumpster fire.

Engage is the best FE on gameplay terms. All you had to do is mod it, and no, im not joking, the ingredients are there, poorly distributed.

I thought I was safe from a favorite character being named, and then you hit the jugular with Ashe. Ashe is ussually a main unit for me, its hard to not have him redeem his foster father and he has a great relationship with Petra (she's the best unit in my opinion, nothing hits her) For me, Casper is the worst.
