Nice lesson. Beautiful guitar. Somehow I am liking the monochromaticity!

Heck all I have to do is swivel my chair 90 degrees and I’ll mess up the song. It’s comical how you get comfortable with a song and you change one little thing and it can go south quickly.

Great video. I stumbled over a very similar lick on a video by Andy Woods!

It might be the exact same lick haha

This video makes it very clear the amount of practice you need to do to get that fast. Personally, i haven't got the dedication. This is why i play the blues.
@fulltimeguitar3 күн бұрын
haha, the blues is also very technical though, in a different way :D
@jaredt39853 күн бұрын
@@cbcacbca The blues isn’t about speed or dexterity, but is still very technical. Bends, vibrato, dynamics, tension and release, and the ability to evoke emotion in the listener still takes a lifetime to master.
@cbcacbca3 күн бұрын
@jaredt3985 , yes, and i love how fluid it is with those bends and vibrato and soul.

These techniques are general and can be applied to any style. I know there are blues licks that are very technically demanding that these techniques can be applied to.

That's a great way to practice and learn. I try to do this to. I take a passage that is difficult for me, isolate it and drill the hell out of it till I can play it smooth 😅

Started thinking this going to be “secret methods” and was rolling my eyes but decided to tap anyways. Glad I did, great solid advices and examples and no “secrets”, just very specific practice tools and ideas. Thank you.

Good lesson! I saw just one thing steve vai said in an online lesson on tapping. He uses the major and ring fingers in combination for tapping. But thanks you for the exercise!

The biggest challenge is to not be discouraged and pick up techniques as you go and have fun. If you can’t play these difficult styles perfectly try to mimic a little bit and see how far you go. Play the licks you love and built everyday.😊

Its worth remembering that Eddie and Alex played wit their father in a jazz band for a long time before doing rock music - Its why I think Steve Vai was the very natural choice for Dave Lee Roth when he left Van Halen
