It's been a while since I seen you that Happy 🙂 when you lit the fire in the forge. And yes I would totally agree that bacon sausages and eggs taste better cooked on a well used coal shovel. Idea for a new channel "cooking with craig" all the basics in forge cooking......

Very excited to see the first fire up of the forge - been waiting for that since you built it! And very nice to see your happy enthusiasm for forging, best therapy while your arm heals I think. Look forward to some forging videos in the future….

We can see the smile that the forge has put on your face, great stuff!! It would be amazing to see you create some bits and pieces for bike builds on the forge, that would be something pretty unique. I would have loved to get into a trade like blacksmithing even though there's not so much of it about these days. I've always been creative but also a bit techy, found myself working in graphic design but in my spare time generally get more enjoyment from tinkering and working with my hands. Tempted to shift back towards proper work.

Been there done that cooked beakfast on the coke shovel made a warming brick to heat the bucket of water that we washed our hands in . Walls were lime white washed .and your right freezing in winter

When I was a kid (1960s) my parents used to buy coke to burn in a multi fuel stove called a Parkray, it was my job to collect it from the coal bunker, but it looked nothing like the stuff you have there, it came in large chunks that were full of holes, produced a ton of heat though ...

I used to go to a NCB place in Manvers Rotherham where they used to wash Coal and Coke(which I found a bit weird). The dust went to the Power Stations, the washed Coal and Cooke went to the domestic market. The site is now a RSPB site!

Life is all about memories and it is so nice to have good memories. If what you are doing Craig brings all those memories back it has to be good for mental health. I had a lovely dad too he has passed too but we had nice times and he taught me how to enjoy creating things. I can't wait for you to get better and use the forge. I will keep my eye open for you I have a feeling you will be inundated with black smith tools.

Smashing that Craig, what an excellent job. I could see the passion in your eyes, when you talked about the good old days. Facsinating, and i sure you could write a book on it! I look forward to a new channel if you ever decide to launch one- even though custom bikes are your thing, and you must never stop this channel. Speak soon, i have lots to talk to you about. Gary

I don't know if you are going the read this since you never seem to reply but if you do here is an idea for your forging job.....DAMASKUS Knifes / Swords. THAT is some cool looking stuff some people are creating and there are a few channel on KZbin about that sort of stuff. The patterns that can be created are literally endless and they just look a bit more special then an ordinary knife etc. Anyhow looking forward to that part of your life even if it is unlikely that I could ever pop in for a coff......Ahh.....tea :) Greetings from Oz

Craig, you explained those feelings so well I could almost smell the coke! I know how you feel nothing quite like working on an anvil, can't put my finger on why, unless its just a strong link to our past. Pretty cool. Cheers.
