@@mzkdub2012 i would just avoid the cheap plier kits on Amazon & at Michaels etc. you need 2 pairs chain nose and 1 pair cutters at minimum. my tool kit that we use: - grounded flat nose pliers: xuron 452G and tronex p723 - holding pliers / chainmaille plier flat nose : xuron 452 and for thicker gauge you need something with a bigger tip at least 2-2.5mm wide like xuron 475. I recommend xuron bc they are cheap and decent. My employees like the smaller handle while I like the long tronex handles. Cutters. You need 2 or 3 pairs. One fine one beefy yet precision, one memory wire cutter like the one in this video. A lot of my tool recommendations depend on the chain you are working with. There is no one set that works best for all. Fine cutter: tronex 5223 Medium: lindstrom 8162 Big: xuron 2194 You’ll also need an electrode sharpener I have videos on that

Non jeweler question.. I want something I can micro fill in rust damaged gun or knife metal to ultimately flatten, polish and blue. Is this product something i can build up a millimeter or two of a gap in a ver small area? If these are limited to jewelry links I understand but if I can use it to build up material, albeit small amounts it might be a fit for me. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks for the video
@Friction-Jewelry
@Friction-Jewelry 13 күн бұрын
Hmm. That is application I don’t have experience with. You can certainly add material to a gap, it’s harder to control vs something like solder. It will take practice but normally if I’m trying to add metal to a joint, I’ll ground the speed wire or whatever, place the electrode on the joint and then bring the wire into the joint.. hard to explain I should make a video on this 😊

Totally appreciate this; very helpful review, man. I’m a little older so I definitely have a problem with seeing, and also add far sightedness to that! Two questions I didn’t think I heard you address but maybe I missed it: 1) To what power does it magnify to? I understand things like “10x”, like from the goose neck magnifying glasses. 2) There are two microscope setups from Orion. The one you have and a more stationary one, correct? What’s the difference, and pros/cons? I can infer that you prefer the one you have… Thank you!!
@Friction-Jewelry
@Friction-Jewelry 25 күн бұрын
1) the eye pieces are 5x, but it’s on a different scale (is the only way I can describe it) vs the convex lens of magnifying lamps. More than that, it’s the clarity, free of distortion you get from having the wrong angle or focal length with other magnifiers. Also the eye pieces are swappable. So you can increase magnification but it would decrease field of view so I wouldn’t recommend. 2) Orion / sunstone offers the articulating arm and stand mounts for their scope. The arm is what nearly all PJ companies use. The stand’s only advantage is portability, but its lack of functionality vs the arm make it a bad option imo. As I mentioned in the video You need to be able to move the stylus around freely to do Pj. The stand and ADLs require you to bring someone’s wrist into position (not good), and they also prevent someone from sitting across from you.

I'm not sure what's wrong they are supposed to get back to me soon. They told me the firmware update could not have caused the issues. Ok so, there are a few things that could be happening. Beginners tend to pull away while welding. Keep light but steady pressure on the joint until after it’s fired. 2nd, too little power will cause the jumps to not weld. Try raising to 2/3 or 1/6. 3rd. Clean your electrode. If you are working with black soot on your electrode the power settings are going to be off. Always work clean.
