Hello there, good question! We don’t have to stop the birds from eating them as we are surrounded by cherry orchards, there are probably 5,000 / 7,000 cherry trees on my neighbours property, so the birds get pretty sick of the cherries in our area quite quickly, we estimate around a 1% loss to the birds and we are ok with that 😊

Thanks for all the information, a question, you make énfasis in the ruins, I know that you can't turning down, but can you ignore it leave it alone and construct a house in other place of the property?

Hi there! great question, you can completely tear them down if you want to… I wouldn’t recommend doing that as you’ll lose the ability to reconstruct them without an architects planning. You can build a new house, but depends on the farm, some you can and some you cannot, to find out whether you can and by what size you can, costs around €150 😊

I find this village quite charming, busy enough for in-town living but still peaceful. The area, even on an overcast day, it s stunning. I thinknif i were young i'd snap up this opportunity for a project to customize and house me for decades. Best wishes to its future new owner! A problem that I notice in almost these houses is that they were built with very thin walls. Too thin, if you allow me. And bad material too, no insulation whatsoever with those hollow bricks.

I love fishing, have been a fisherwoman for around 50 years. ❤ 🎉 Catfish, flathead and blue catfish and crappie❤ and rainbow and brown trout and perch and bass, etc. Freshwater. I miss it.

Fabulous views and oodles of space and potential. For around 15k you couldn’t even buy a garage in many UK places. I cycled through the town last year and it was much drier than this.

That could become a charming little home, with just enough garden space for a patio and a few flower/veg beds. The views are stunning, a morning walk to the bakery would be a lovely way to start the day. Andre's tour was very good, and I especially enjoyed seeing the rustic chamber pot (high class ones still have their covers 😂)

Not on topic, exactly, but Joseph, would it be possible to talk in a future episode on what agricultural opportunities you see in that region? Is the market for cherries pretty full or could it add on many more acres? Olives? More tree fruit - apples, pears, or citrus? What about veg / herb market gardening? I'd really love to see a regular series of interviews with farmers in your area. Just ideas for the future 🙏😊 My background and passion is small scale farming and direct marketing at farmers markets. And are there any lavender farms in your area? Either as production or just as agro-tourism?

Hello there Matthew, that is a great idea! I will do this in a future episode. The area is great for people wanting to startup their own agricultural concern, cherries are the primary crop in the area, for good reason too, they fetch an amazing price! Peaches also do well here, but require a lot more attention. Olives do great but fetch a lower price. Apples and pears are more suited slightly more north, but still do very well here. Hello there, I’m not a letting agent but I could point you in the direction of people who could provide this service. I would imagine a long term rental income of €350 / €550 per month, depending on finish. short term rental income of around €700 per month

Hi, the town isn’t empty at all, there is a school, probably a population of a couple thousand at a guess. Nice restaurants, cafes, bakeries, mini markets, there is even a disco in the town!

It definitely is an ageing population, but this area is very well situated close to public transport, universities, schools, places for people to commute and work so here, specifically around Fundão, there is still a great community 😊

@serenapimentel7372 - Often the villages seem empty during midday because people are having the midday meal and then siesta during the hottest hours. Also many people are away at work while the youngsters are at school. ("Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun" 😁)

Both short and long term rentals are in demand, earn more with short term but a lot more work compared to long term.
