Joseph and Andre, what a find for an early spring tour! This offers great inspiration as to what could be done on a small scale and with all the amenities, scale, close to the village…. It has it all and could be built/rebuilt to a very nice all inclusive lifestyle for the right people. Excellent place to get started.

Thank you both for showing this beautiful property, springtime is glorious there! André is such a treasure trove of information, how nice it would be if new owners could spend some time with him learning the story of the people who lived on the land before, and also walking the land to learn about the plants and their uses. I know there are "plant id" apps, but it's just not the same, André's knowledge (and recipes) are invaluable.

Delightful farmstead Joseph, always look forward to you and André showing us around....a question for you why are there so many abandoned places in central Portugal?
@Farmerforfun7 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you! During the ‘60s / ‘70s a lot of the children of the farmers decided it was more beneficial to them to move away to cities and more wealthy countries, therefore many became abandoned, nowadays most of the ruins you cannot even find the owners of as their children have been abroad for decades, unfortunately

what are the rules/regulations on building/renovating propertys in central portugal {property is beatiful )
@Farmerforfun7 ай бұрын
It is a very broad question, depends on village, property type, age, current construction material, zoning etc, on this specific property you can build the footprint, go up one storey, possibly extend (need to speak with an architect about how much one can extend, costs €150 to find this info out from them) 💕
@johnhughes33337 ай бұрын
Hi Joseph, is the 150 euros per property to find this out, or is it a generic printout, etc. Like we've got here in the uk with permitted development plans? Is there a way I can get details of the architects that's providing this service, please? Thanks again

Hi Joseph, it looks to me like that this was originally an agricultural building and not used as a residential domestic house. There are no windows which makes me think it was a barn or a place to store crops. What does a licence to make it habitable include, i.e, bathroom, kitchen, sewage system etc? Would you not also need planning permission if those things don't exist or never existed in it's original construction? It's probably very different from the UK, here you would definitely need planning permission firstly for change of use and also to turn it into a domestic dwelling according to current regulations.
