Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for eight years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

In the new olive tree planting the herb leaf looks like Plantago lanceolata or Ribwort Plantain... great antihistamine action, better than rubbing a dock leaf on your nettle sting if you can find enough leaves.

What a beautiful piece of land. Love that there is a stream. T would be great to plant a small cherry orchard as well. The town is lovely. It would be great to have some goats and a donkey to help land management. So great the government allows stipends for livestock. Helps with their health checks. So you said you can’t put a permanent house on it but perhaps a movable tiny house? Love your family unit. Close is growing up before our eyes. ❤

Having cycled through only yesterday I can confirm that the Fundão region is a beautiful place to be. Sitting in the park talking to other incomers, who’d escaped from a terribly unstable part of the world, the Fundao magic was working in them all.

Those yellow flowers are Evening Primrose, good for oil, and they smell like lemon.... I think that is what it is. Hard to tell without being there. Thank you both for sharing this lovely piece of property! Beautiful family you have!

Hello there! No streams or water courses in portugal are owned by property holders, the stream is the border and can be used, water can be extracted, but not obstructed in any way 😊

Hi there! Extra charges include: legal representative, price depends who you use. purchase tax: 5% of purchase price. stump duty: 0.8% of purchase price. notary fees: around 200 euros.

Cows they sell by the kilo normally, so you can pick up a group of three calves for like €500, adults for €1,000 odd each… Goats about €50, sheep about €80 😊 💕

No, it’s not zoned for anyone to live in, doesn’t matter if it is a tent or a house

Yes, up to 50m2 normally, so plenty big enough for a little holiday home or something in my opinion 😊

Many of these properties are from early last century and were used by families to grow produce, grapes for wine and olives for oil. Many of these properties were owned by new owners' grandparents and have been split between son and daughters many times. They never had building permission as owners lived in town homes. You can get permission to construct a home however it takes a long time, and the footprint will be limited.
