On the above ground portions I see what looks like a metal arch every so often. What are those? Thanks for the great videos.

Do you record defects any where on the train so depot staff can look at them overnight

Hey Dale, how often do you drive the FAST vs the Local?
@dalecharmantravels8057Сағат бұрын
Going west between Acton and Northfields it’s probably some thing like 75% fast and 25% slow. Going east between the 2 stations it’s more like 98% fast and 2% slow

Are the new trains planned for more than 45 mph?
@dalecharmantravels8057Сағат бұрын
No idea. I’ve only seen limited information on the new trains. Hopefully we will know more once one arrives later this summer for testing

There is one of the underground drivers on youtube actually uses an high powered torch when in the pipe & for me personally I prefer it dark.

We do carry a lamp that goes in the window. I don’t use it as I never know how tfl will react. I would rather act in the side of caution. Saying that one day if I have a headlight out I will have to use my lamp. Let’s hope I have the camera with me that day

Thank you once again for a great video. The Piccadilly is a superb line and a dam sight cheaper than the service from another certain train station and operator a bit slower but a most enjoyable journey to Heathrow. Will miss the 73 stock when they are finally retired.

What is a SPAD Area Hot Spot?
@dalecharmantravels80572 сағат бұрын
It just means that the signal or signals in that area have had many spads over time. ( signals past at danger )

Hi Dale, good to see another video😊….have often wondered whether a driver is expected to ‘max out’ according to the speed restriction at the time or is it well within reason to do 25mph in a 40mph zone? I suspect you’ll probably say you operate on fulfilling the timetable.
@dalecharmantravels80572 сағат бұрын
You are free to drive as you like with in reason. If you start to loose time then it becomes an issue. Safety always comes first so a few miles an hour slower here and there doesn’t make any difference

what happened after u ecs to cockfosters depot because of the motor problem?
@dalecharmantravels80572 сағат бұрын
I got off at Arnos Grove. The next driver took it to the depot and got a change over for a good train
@S1deep1604 сағат бұрын
The reason why the motor might be failing is because some drivers are putting it straight to parallel and it just pulls back.What your doing is good from series for a bit to parallel.

I don't know if u know this fact and want to mention it but when Ur traveling eastbound into Hounslow east the fence breaks a little (by the old box?? /station house??) this used to be the old spur off to Hounslow station (Hounslow bus garage now ) that used to be used by the district line (maby even metropolitan line) back in the days

I had rail scraping on the RL - Acton in the winter before the Electricity at works act came in, years back. After they'd get battery loco to retrieve it.

Dale, do you know if there are any plans for the Piccadilly line to go ATO? I assume the new stock will have this capability.
@dalecharmantravels80572 сағат бұрын
It will go ATÓ eventually. When they get the funding for the signal upgrades. The government wanted TFL to cost for the Piccadilly line to go fully automatic with no driver. I don’t think that will ever happen
@ericmintz83055 сағат бұрын
Thank you for explaining the move so well. I especially appreciate your detailed descriptions of the signals. As an American who lives on the NE Corridor, I know a bit about Pennsy signals, and when I lived in Manhattan, I became well acquainted with the IRT and IND signals. British signals are way different, so thanks again.

Are category A station's permanently staffed?
@dalecharmantravels80572 сағат бұрын
That is a question I don’t know the answer too. I know if it’s a deep level station it has to be manned but I think some of the outer stations can be unmanned. As I’ve never worked on stations I am just guessing.

The district went to another station somewhere near Hounslow Central hence the Mercury tubes before the tube section.

The cab door interlock switch looks like it has facility for a seal. Did they used to be or are there some situations where they do get sealed? Any history to that? You didn't mention the seal cover but you did mention the switch so I figured not unreasonable to ask & not one of the confidential things
