Hope TFL change their minds re filming on the train you always did it very responsibly and never compromised safety. As an occasional tube user I found it facinating seeing the behind the scenes working of that aspect of the tube. It hs made me more sympathetic when things go wrong, it's a really complex operation. I was watching a main line train cab video yesterday, with driver giving a live commentary whilst travelling at over 100mph in places! He had obviously learned from the master!!!

I've watched the driving videos and found it educational, I would love to work for LU as a driver. As mentioned it seems train enthusiasts have made a complaint and a pointless FOI request which annoyed LU, I read such posts on a rail forum, I find it bizarre that a train enthusiast would trash their own hobby in such a petty manner so they can feel clever and important.

Still waiting from the Piccadilly line mangers as to why they stopped these POV videos (or rather TfL did). TfL did say that they had sent my enquiry onto the Pic Managers since they were in a better position to explain things better in terms of orders from up above (they even acknowledged that Dale was a very popular and much respected employee) . This is down to TfL without a shadow of a doubt because drivers on all other lines were told not to make them anymore too. I will keep on pressing as to why it was fine one minute and not the next. They need to explain their decisions.

That's a nice video, Dale. I was an Ex-DTM for a major Northern TOC (cough) so I do know the driver grade very well, including the competency and assessment requirements of driver operators. I eagerly await their response. @hughs591 Not really. They need to explain themselves. Nothing to do with Dale, he's doing what he is told, and is a superb professional train man. I am asking as an enthusiast, as well as a professional. If they were ok with driver commentary videos for many months, what made them change their minds all of a sudden? Don Coffey still makes them on the mainline without problem.
@keithjones905410 күн бұрын
@@Scorchzzz I really couldn't understand that. But national security has got nothing to do with it when others are still doing the same type of video and Train Simulators provide much more detailed information on how to operate 73 deep level underground stock

@@Scorchzzz At the end of the day I suspect it's the enthusiasts who are their own downfall. A lot of them will complain to TfL thinking they're being clever and a know-it-all, when reality says they're anything but.

Not sure I'd fancy doing that driving commute if I was going to be spending the rest of the day driving, it must add up to the fatigue and I'm surprised you dont have to wait between driving a fair journey and driving for tfl. Don't you get rail concessions to commute by train to the smoke ? Mind you, with all those holidays and a polestar, you're probably not worried about cost. Wouldn't rail be easier, at least more restful ? Shame no more cab views, though. ❤

Man, I LOVE driving but I couldn't do that commute every day and still feel alert enough to spend the time at work doing even more driving. Don't you fancy a job with a local train operator nearer Peterborough? Thameslink at Bedford or Luton so you'd still get that 'London fix', or there must be something in Cambridge. Anyway, the electric car must be saving you a FORTUNE in fuel, at least. Approximately how much does it cost to charge?
