I reallt want to so a crafter MWB bur i also want to gr a motorbike in. I knwo this would mean massive compromises but is it doable?
@voyageadventurevansКүн бұрын
I would say no. Even with a lwb, a motorbike is way longer than the lengthways bed. You could probably get a bike in and sleep in the van, but having space for seating, kitchen batteries etc would be a massive compromise.

It has already been said numerous times but deserves to be repeated. The attention to detail is exceptional. Living in Australia prevents me from using your services unfortunately but I can get ideas and inspiration by watching your videos. My new 4Motion MWB Crafter arrives this week after a very long wait so I am researching intently before starting my own build. I can see you used 2 Victron 30A DC to DC chargers. There has been some concern expressed elsewhere that the latest smart alternators may not work so well as a charging source for the house batteries. Did you find there were any issues to overcome charging from the smart alternator? Are you able to get the full 60A when it is required ? Any tips or observations to share on the electricals? And thank you for the great videos.

Surely water spray is easier than that method??
@voyageadventurevans4 ай бұрын
I am definitely not a wrap or vinyl expert, but I think water spray is ok if you don't need to stretch and stick at the same time. If this was wet, then it would not stick properly until it was dry. This wrap vinyl has air release channels on the back to allow you to get rid of air pockets when it's applied dry.

Thank you for this informative video. Question: why not replacing the existing short cable by a longer one?
@voyageadventurevans5 ай бұрын
Because they are factory fitted cables. The end that is built into the latch has a specific shape, and it is only available from the manufacturer in one size. Even the longer cables in other parts of the door have different ends. It would be nice if it was that easy.

To be honest, I have moved back to a biscuit joint as it gives you a little more leeway. If you use dowels then they have to be mm perfect, and that isn't always easy 😉

I removed the trim from the rear drivers side sill closest to the door that was filling up. I sealed it all up with silicone. It has filled back up with water since. I’ve yet to solder holes for it drip out. Any reason it’s still filling up?
@voyageadventurevans7 ай бұрын
There are multiple places for the water to get in. It is sealed from factory but not necessarily 100%. Resealing it yourself may still not be 100% water tight, so it's just easier to make a suitable drainage point for the water. If you can, hose the outside whilst viewing the inside. At least you may be able to add some additional sealant.

@voyageadventurevans8 ай бұрын
The main Carcass depth is the same as the fridge width, so its approx 423mm internally. On top of that you have a front and rear panel of 15mm. The worktop has about 10mm of overlap except at the sliding door pillar where it is level with the carcass. The unit does extend about 40mm where the oven / hob is located.

Fantastic attention to detail, just how it should be done. I'm thinking of trying edgebanding, do you mind me asking which type of glue you use? I'm assuming the heat in the van doesn't soften up the glue allowing edges to come off. Do you have any issues using it in a shower room with all the water. Many thanks and keep up the great work :)
@voyageadventurevans8 ай бұрын
You do need a good heat resistant one. If you don't, then sunlight on a dark colour can generate enough heat in the summer to melt it....or certainly soften it. In the shower, we use a curtain around any edgebanded wood whilst in the shower. You don't want to soak it, but splashes are fine.
@northerndan8 ай бұрын
@@voyageadventurevans Thanks Ed for coming back to me. You don't happen to know if the glue you use is PUR or EVA? What what I've read the PUR type is more heat resistant but also can't be re-melted in the machine and a nightmare to clean. The PUR type is much easier to work with but does have a melting point. Cheers :)
@voyageadventurevans8 ай бұрын
@@northerndan PU Glue would just be non viable on a small scale due to the constant clean up, making small batches so difficult. I have tried a few EVA glues and have settled on Jowatherm 280.30.
