Wow. I knew that there was something about him that made his role in "Pearl Girl" authentic. It actually made cry and think about certain dynamics in life. Though he's an actor, the emotions and expressions he conveys can't be faked. They come from experiences and an authenicity from deep within. He was brilliant in that movie. I wish him a righteous life.

I'm finding Riverside Code intriguing and visually appealing. Just finishing off Brocade Odyssey and loving the male lead. Have put Blossom on hold but will go back to it soon as I'm liking the leads so far. The schedule is getting a bit crowded with new historical dramas. Tried the Legend of Taotie but it was looking too dated. Also A Love story of Oiled Umbrellas looks good but haven't had time to get to it. Happy Holidays to all.

Loving Blossom, so nice to have two main leads who actually support each other without, silly subplots. The court intrigue is definitely the main story, but so good, the cinematography is beautiful, and the acting is great across the board.

To us, Fans, the CDrama scripts have embrace the written and directed work of people with little or no imagination or sense of drama, romance and plot ( mystery ) I waited for the Pearl drama and stop almost as soon as I started. However there is one Brocade Oddesy starts with tragedy the main lead actor did not reveal his interest clearly from the first few episode but was the constant shining knight of course the good stop as the director and probably production decided to prolong the already done story. The main characters did a good acting work but all good story has to end and end well, That's entertainment

Confuses me why some people even bother watching these c dramas. Why so many people who watch cdrama seem obnoxiously negative and angry? This drama was pretty good especially in the beginning. Middle was okay and I didn’t like the ending. I didn’t mind they killed off a lot of the support characters and I don’t mind business dramas. Theres always some place in the drama that’s a bit boring when they’re doing mundane things but those parts also hold the key to what’s going on in the drama in terms of the meaning behind everything and the messages the drama is intending to convey. As long as the plot/storyline are good then they can afford to kill off some people and have some “boring” moments. So the problem is not that they killed off some support and had boring moments the problem is they dropped the ball on the storyline towards the ending so those other details that cause emotional frustration whether intentional or not come back to bite them. My issue is that people only complain about it because they dislike sadness, trauma and heartbreak not because it actually affects quality of the drama. Killing of those support characters did not affect the quality of the drama. When I watch a drama I do it for more than just entertainment reasons. I’m looking for deep meaning, lessons, hidden messages that are poetic and can apply to real life. I’m looking for a character/situations/conflicts I can connect with somehow. I expect my mind and my emotions to be engaged. It seems like so many people watch these dramas just to see two pretty leads kissing and holding each other in every episode. What is dramatic about that?? And when they don’t get that and they get something mentally/emotionally involved instead requiring intelligence and emotional maturity then they say the drama is bad? lol. That’s super weird to me. Isn’t that basically looking for soft pron? Why watch these dramas? What’s really annoying is so many people leaving angry comments about this drama and c drama in general about how they’re all the same. Ironically the complaints are all the same. Wah they had sad moments and episodes where the leads aren’t together and blah blah blah. Like go for a romantic-comedy if you can’t handle something that’s not all rainbows and unicorns. It’s so annoying people criticizing a drama for being bad just because there some sadness/tragedy. Sadness is not badness. It’s okay to get emotional and cry. That doesn’t make anything bad. The ending in this drama was definitely lacking though. I couldn’t tell the last episode was the last episode. It’s very not memorable, not clear what the meaning/message of the ending is like in other drama where lead dies there’s a specific message that goes along with it and there’s a closure for the story. pearl girl either didn’t seem to have one or it’s very obscure which was/is not only disappointing but also confusing and makes me think perhaps I missed some details. I’m thinking about watching it again at some point. Overall I’d currently give it 6.5/10. Actors looked great and I enjoyed the cast, the acting, and the chemistry between everyone.

I liked this first half. I got bored around ep 20-30 when they separated & placed the love plot in the back burner. I understanding it’s a life story of the main female lead but LYN and ZL are soooo good togetherrrr. I wanted to see more of them together and we lacked that in the second half up until the last couple of episodes. Their romance scenes are so sweet! It makes my heart melt. I heard about the ending and didn’t like it but I wanted to see it thru…still heartbreaking. They didn’t even give us the trope of a child between them.

I am SICK to the hind teeth of the Mega-Death MacGuffin. It seems that the Chinese are so crude and unfeeling that the writers need to send at least half the cast to the guillotine to elicit a reaction to the story. Oh, is there a costume drama where Liu YuNing survives?? Him being in a drama tells you the end. This really is like all the other dramas this year, try and make the peasant girls cry. Predictable. Same storyline applied on dozens of dramas.

There’s a couple reasons for that. It gave her character opportunities for growth, changed her identity and the projectory of her life. He was able to use it to create distance between them for the reasons he thought he needed to. And a major point of the story is about perseverance, independence and strength, especially sending that message to women. Heartbreak happens but you’re supposed to keep pushing on anyways no matter who leaves you and why they leave you. It’s out of your control. I really really don’t understand why people just brush off writers, directors, actors or dramas as a whole, without taking time to reflect on why it was done the way it was done. Instead of presuming the crew was entirely careless in their approach to the storyline take some time to think about why did they choose to do this, why did they choose to do that? Think That’s not to say some parts of this drama weren’t confusing or lacking but all in all it’s not that bad. Was it predictable and unoriginal??? any drama or film could be considered predictable to an extent simply by paying attention to the small details like certain phrases at the “boring”moments or certain objects being held or put down by certain characters. Sometimes there are clues laid out meant to help viewers “predict” upcoming scenes. So the unoriginal and predictable thing is all relative and debatable. If you or anyone else is sick of it though I suggest taking a break from dramas. Watch comedies instead. They are a good refresher after watch dramas which are generally intended to be thought provoking and emotionally heavy.

Agree with a lot of the review and comments. Was looking forward to a new ZL drama especially paired once again with LYN. After a strong start setting up her backstory and their initial meeting it lost it's way when the writers set her character adrift from all her moorings. The 'family' that gave her purpose. This was never recaptures through all the jewelry/pearl business contrivances. Estrangement from ML, his revenge story and decline dragged on and on. Some good secondary characters had no place to go and were wasted.

I finished watching the drama, and ZLS did a great acting job. However, I didn’t like the middle part to the end. I found that the writers didn’t do justice to her character and other characters in the drama. I think she should be with 2nd ML instead of with LYN’s character. Also, I wouldn't say I liked the on-screen chemistry of ZLS and LYN in this drama. Also, I wouldn't say I liked the business aspect of it. I found it boring, and the ending was bad. I liked the first 18 episodes; after that, it went downhill for me. For the first time, I agree with Douban's rating of this drama. Because of this drama, I don't even want to entertain Brocade Odyssey. It is another costume business drama that is slow-burning and boring.

Mhm. Seems so. I’ve noticed when a drama seems to start to falling apart it’s usually after the first few episodes, or right before the last few episodes. These places are super sensitive and critical in a plot. If it falls apart a little bit in the middle it’s less noticeable and people don’t care as much. But if it’s at the beginning or the ending it’s easy to notice and criticize.

If an actor just goes to the set and do what the director or scriptwriter tells him/her to do, and has no interest in what the final product looks like, eventually the actor is the one who suffers as the audience does not know the scriptwriter, only knows that the actor starred in a garbage series. When the actor is in a new series, the audience might not even bother to see it.

They did give us hope at the end.... SPOILERS: There is a short 23 minutes Extra Episode at the end where it shows that Yichen chose to kill Zhao Yuanzhou himself with the sword because he was able to manipulate the kill to save a piece of ZYZ's soul. Yichen then leaves the bureau and spends years searching for ZYZ's soul so that he can revive him. Wen Xiao has been staying in the Wilderness all these years to protect the demons, and to wait for ZYZ. She keeps with her the half of that written vow that she had made ZYZ sign with this fingerprint saying that he would protect her. What only the audience gets to see is that ZYZ's soul was in that fingerprint on that document. After several years, the document flew away from the Wilderness and somehow found Yichen. Yichen saw the vow by ZYZ and noticed that the fingerprint was alive. He held up his sword to the fingerprint and the sword glowed because it was able to detect ZYZ's demons soul. It ends with Yichen's tearful, happy smile.... so now we know that our great demon Zhao Yuanzhou is able to come back and be revived if they do a second season. I am happy with the extra episode. It shows that Yichen and Wen Xiao never stopped searching and waiting for ZYZ. And it shows that ZYZ can come back. :)
