I always liked the Witch King far more than Sauron. He's the frontline badass actually going out to the ranks and spreading terror and mayhem. Metal f*cking voice and showboats after knocking Eowyn away like a gnat. Meanwhile Sauron's just a giant security camera.

The hobbit trilogy did go “heavy handed” with the amount of motion capture CGI on the orcs, though Bolg’s overall design made him much more intimidating looking than the other orcs. It was a right decision for Azog and Bolg to speak in their native language as their speaking roles may not have carried the same level of impact if they spoke the language of men.

Smeagol sets the tone in this scene by taking a disturbing amount of pleasure from hooking that worm which the gentle Shire style setting and friendly background music struggles to gloss over. I wonder if Peter Jackson did this on purpose or if the character was just supposed to look a bit simple and carefree... kinda looks more like a psycho tbh. We could say that the power of Saurons ring undoubtedly turns these two simple and weak-willed characters into a murderous state but it really took very little to set them off and as mentioned, Smeagol had already displayed the actions of a dark and disturbing person before the ring tipped the scales beyond his self control.
