Great video man any tips for high school players in Europe and how to deal with less access to facilities outside of school (is it worth practicing on a double rim for example)?

Hey man.its my last year of high school but I reclassed up so I’m actually 15,turning 16 in 12th grade and I’m not from America. I force myself to get around 4 hours of training every but I don’t feel like I’m getting any better and looking at those 5 star 9th grader all over America really makes me wonder if basketball is for me. It’s my passion I truly want to make it as far as possible but I don’t even have the proper ways to train myself like I don’t have a coach, my parents made me stop practicing in a club to focus on school and the only thing I train myself with is a ball and a portable hoop. And now taking a look at my situation made me wonder if I should really continue bc no one around me is trying to help me succeed. Do u have any advice to help me please ? Basketball is the only thing I have and I don’t know if I would be still here if I didn’t had it.

Need serious help if you have any ideas or advice pls help me.

Really loved this video but i have a question. You see around a year ago. I had was in that mode just like Tyler. Wake up at 6 every day to shoot, then school, then gym, then chill and then i would workout again in the evening. Looking back at it, even though i missed parties, and time with friends, that was one of the happiest times i have ever had, because i was chasing my dream, and keeping the promises i made for myself.. But for some reason i stopped, and now doing a single workout feels hard. For some reason ,even though i love basketball i dont feel like i have the passion. But i think a reason has do with the fact that i have been overthinking alot about going to the next level, and what if i dont make it etc. Which kinda made me go from working out because i want to get better and because i love it, to working out because otherwise im going to overthink and etc. So honestly how do i get it back, because that geniune feeling of seeing improvment when you put in the time, after all the "sacrifices" i made (i always came home late so almost never ate dinner with my family) is such a good feeling. I just want to get back into that "mode"

Lebron was unselfish in hs. He knew how to get in positions to exploit defence and offense. He knew how to pass and where everybody else was. He knew and ran the plays the coach wanted. He could shoot off the pass. He could bring up the ball. That's probably why they didn't go undefeated but he sure got drafted high.

Hey Tucker i work hard but i feel as if i dont work hard enough to reach my max potential. If allowed to i would get up as early as 5am just to get shooting or dribbling workouts in. My slight problem is when i shoot outside before school i always get scared that i am annoying my neighbours that are sleeping and my mum hates it when i play in early mornings as she wakes up super easily. So i stopped doing it I know this is a lame excuse but i feel as if this small factor may having me fall behind, compared to other player around the globe. I have recently started going to the gym, solely to gain strength for shooting and muscle in order to absorb contact. Im also not athletically gifted, onky 5 8 at 15 and have a really low vertical. My strength is that i am quick and can change directions well, with good handles. I know this is not enough and if i want to make college or to the professional level, this will not be enough. Sorry for the yap sess, thanks Tuck.

I used to be really good at basketball and then I quit because I wasn’t enjoying it but now I am getting back into it, recently I’ve gotten into a really bad shooting slump and it’s not like I can’t hit in game I am missing form shots next to the hoop constantly, Should I keep practicing or is there more to it?
@TuckerRichardson4 күн бұрын
If you have goals and a passion for the game, then of course I think you should continue practicing. A slump can't be the thing that holds you back if your truly love the game.

I agree the framing needs to be reworded but Don't be selfish is about making the right play.. What's so hard to understand?? The decision making is horrid when you tell players to be selfish instead of being aggressive in spurts since the game is fluid. I've watched coaches from high school level and up, literally wait for certain opposing players to start playing ''selfish'' cause most of the time they know it doesn't impact winning like you think it does...
@TuckerRichardson4 күн бұрын
Yeah I mean the whole point is that it is about reworking the types of players that are being produced. If a kid works really hard and has talent, I would want them to be more aggressive for my teams success...

Eat a lot and get in the gym? haha no but in all honesty, skinny hoopers can get by. You just have to learn how to use your body and physicality even without more weight. But, you need to be lifting no matter what to gain strength.

I’m a gym rat and have coached this game for years. My son is a junior and I do t push him like I use to, I let him get away with things I wouldn’t have in the past. I tell all the young men to catch on two and be ready. It’s the same idea as not letting the ball get in top of you. I told their head coach about it as well, we have open dialogue, but he seemed to brush it off. However I told their star player and he took it to heart and doesn’t miss. It unlocked his jumper. From good to damn near perfection. It’s not rocket science fellas. This video ended up in my feed at the perfect time. Sending it now.

Incredible video. Learning a lot about life. I unfortunately quit at the highschool level but gonna be a life long basketball enthusiast. Question, what do you think differentiates you from an NBA player? Dont mean to disrespect you one so bit because you made it just been wondering this causs i feel like a lot of European players are right there.
@TuckerRichardson4 күн бұрын
Thank you, and that is a great question! Well, I worked out with the Warriors this past summer and competed against guys in the NBA, EuroLeague and other top European leagues. I would say I'm really not that far off from that level. I truly believe I can get there one day. The biggest difference is the athleticism and the speed of the game. I definitely felt sped up when I was playing with those guys this summer because of the tempo and athleticism. Skill wise, I would need to become even more consistent and dangerous with my shot. IQ wise, I really think I am right there. I hope this helps!
