Great video . When I shoot in practice I shoot very well but in games but in games I get stressed and pass it while being wide open
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын
So you take those shots in practice? If you can build the habit of taking shots in practice you will tend to be able to move that into a game.
@baldricbuah733017 күн бұрын
This past year I had more off days than good days, which is weird because in practice I'd be making them... sometimes I'm still on break so I've been practicing the fundamental shots along with some tough shots too with consistency, hoping next year will be better

Tucker do you know why I tend to strugle with shooting 3 pointers. I shoot about 70% in the mid range but as soon as I step out beyond the arc I shoot short. I think its because I dont have enough power and my power transfer feels off, so when shooting 3's I miss short but if I do increase my power I lose control of my shot.
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын
Hmmm there are plenty of reasons you might be losing power. I think release point is probably the biggest thing. So players with a 2 motion shot tend to be better from mid range but struggle moving out to the 3. Think of someone like Demar Derozen in this case. What does your form look like?
@justin.popovic17 күн бұрын
My son had this problem earlier this season after changing his form. What Tucker said is key in my opinion. Lower your release point and be sure to get your legs under your shot. Try to keep your feet planted firmly on the catch (avoid going up on your toes) before exploding upwards as you jump into the shot. This fixed my son's range issues
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын

What is your shooting workout. I'm in high school and i'm not playing this year because of an injury. But i'm good now but waited to long to sign up but wanna be ready for my senior year. I am a shooter have unlimited range most of the time but usually only spot up. How can i translate a in game shot like coming off a screen?
@TuckerRichardson7 күн бұрын
I mix up my shooting workouts a lot, but mostly try and get a lot of shots up off different movement and actions I will get in a game.
@choieunho1912 күн бұрын
Is it okay to have a different shooting form for long range shots and close range. In my midrange i would shoot with 2 motions, but outside the ark i would shoot with 1 motion. Should i change it to just one shot form?
@TuckerRichardson11 күн бұрын
I think this is very normal. A lot of 2 motion mid range shooters do have less of a pause as they move out, and the other way around. I am a 1 motion shooter but on little fadeaways and middies I definitely use more 2 motion.
@coopershackleford17 күн бұрын
Hey tuck, I've been kinda stinking it up with my 3pt shooting this season, sitting at around 21% on over 2 attempts a game. We've just hit the midseason break for my league, so I've got 6 weeks of no organised basketball to try and work on it a bit. My one problem is I don't have access to a basketball ring at home, and I live out of town so I can't really get any shots up. Have you got any advice on how I can deal with this?
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын
Not having any access to a hoop is really tough honestly. I know it is winter, so outdoor courts are probably out of the question. If you have 6 weeks off, you basically need to find a way to get to a gym or find a hoop so you can continue to train.
@coopershackleford17 күн бұрын
@@TuckerRichardson actually, I have the advantage of being in Australia so it's summer right now, however it'll probably still be too hot to use many outdoor hoops. I'll keep thinking to try and work out a plan

In games are you internally thinking about what to do or do you use your instincts to make reads and plays ?
@leoserntyleo576217 күн бұрын
Don’t overthink Make 1/2 decision plays either or Do I pass or shoot Two decisions only also you want to trust your instincts that you practiced
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын
I think a mixture of both. Within a singular play I rely on my instincts. But throughout the game I will try and think through different reads or figuring out the rhythm of the game. Hope this helps!
@BranDin-r1f17 күн бұрын
@ would you say internal thought happen while you’re in the bench or in a timeout and external thought like using your instincts to make reads happen while you’re on the court ?
@TuckerRichardson17 күн бұрын
Yeah, during the slow or stoppage moments of a game, you want to be thinking through what you are seeing. For instance, how they are defending ball screens or what offense they are running. Then you can have an attack plan as you get into more read and react moments.
