They say age is just a number. That's so true! As long as the body holds out, there's no reason an older person (AKA senior) cannot discover (or RE-discover) the enjoy of riding a motorbike. I'm 56, and after three decades of avoiding motorbikes, I decided to get back on two-wheels. However, I had to choose a bike that fit my riding style and physical limitations. In this video I explain that and much more.
Thanks to the new subscribers and I hope my videos help you along your journey on two, or even three wheels.

More "seniors" are opting for easier-to-operate automatic motorbikes like the one I ride. They simply make more sense, especially as we age. My next ride will probably be a mobility four-wheeled scooter I'm sure. Oh well, life on wheels doesn't have to cease just cause we age. Here's to all you older farts in the crowd! CHEERS

Hey Trekopolis, thanks for the shoutout - I appreciate it! Yes I'm older (72), and just got started riding. I got my license mid March, and just started riding this January when I got my permit. I've put 1200 miles on my ADV160 so far, as I make a strong effort to get as much "two wheel time" as I can. I liked your channel because it's laid back and easy to view - and also because you basically sing the praises of a CVT scooter, and just toss aside the stigma that it's not a "real bike". Like you, I chose the ADV160 because of the brand reputation, and the stunning good looks. I did the oil change at 600 miles, and will do it again at 2500 miles, and every 2500 after that - if I don't trade it in that is. Yes, I drool over the ADV350, and would love to test ride it, if it ever came to this country. But its competitor, the Yamaha XMAX300 is already here. Hmmm. Creating videos is a bit of work - trying to be conversant in a meaningful way while riding requires some extra brain power. But I do enjoy the editing - there's no traffic to worry about! Thanks again for the shoutout.

70, 72, who's counting? 🤔 Doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. The older I get the less I focus on details and just try to enjoy the moments. BTW, I like your channel name and logo design. Nice! Thanks also for the encouraging words, for that keeps me highly motivated to press onward. I have a day job so I do this for fun! By the time I retire from the corporate world then I can hone in on this channel better and may even get another bike. I'm torn between a cruiser or sport bike though. Time will determine that I'm sure. I should probably stop watching MotoGP because those bikes can get ya in trouble if you're not capable. 😳 🏍️ A Ducati or Aprilia is very tempting I must admit. They make the kid inside want to break out.

Do you have any back pain riding your ADV? Often when I see scooter drivers, I see them hunched over a bit. I question the comfort of driving one given that most of the body weight seems to be fully on the seat, absorbing the shocks into the back. I ride my 125 cc scooter in the mountains of Taiwan for about three or so hours on some weekends with my girlfriend behind me. I noticed my shoulders and upper back become a little agitated and tired. It makes me think that a motorcycle is easier on the body because the weight seems to be distributed better between the feet, legs, arms and the seat. Would be interested to know more of your thoughts on the ergonomics on driving the ADV, aside from your issues with the uncomfortable seat. Thanks for the content and be well ✪

I honestly been lucky not to have any back issues over the years, especially after wrecking havoc on my body in my hay days. However, I have noticed if I ride more than an hour my neck/shoulder area does seem to get tired and stiff. The buttocks is a gimme with the park bench seat, but yes, I do feel I'm not sitting up straight when riding and that can get tiring. I usually don't ride long so that's why I don't notice it much. My wrists used to get sore after longer rides, but I since adjusted the handlebar position that felt more natural. You have to play around with that once the four center bolts are loosened to know the best resting position. I would LOVE a seat for this bike that had a large backrest for support, but the only ones I can find online have about 6 inches of height so not sure if that would really benefit. If I could find a seat configuration more like a cruiser bike design that would be sweet! You know, a seat with a very high backrest that's more of a bucket position. These type of bikes aren't designed around longer cruising rides, but more hop on and off with short commutes. I knew that going in to be honest, but I'd also love a more comfortable seating position for longer trips if I ever decide to do that some day. For now, it's fine. To find the perfect bike you have to really know the plans for riding and in my case, shorter jaunts around my city is all I really need at the moment. Hope this was helpful.

Same decision on bike size/weight here. Only wish the same accessory screen, was 100mm (4") taller. Anyone know if one is available?

How much do you weigh at 56
@Trekopolis
@Trekopolis 2 ай бұрын
Too much. I've always been an athlete and lifted weights, now about 210. The BMI chart is a joke, it's more about muscle mass. I used to bodybuild, but not anymore. I really need to hit the gym now that you mention it. They say I should weight 150 pounds at 5-8. That's basically skin with bones and I enjoy food once in a while. I do need to drop some though and trust me, my wife plays her harp daily for me on the topic.
