Hollywood isn’t called Hollyweird for a reason. There are actors who are comfortable doing somethings in a scene or are not , some actors are comfortable with being in underwear but not nudity. There are standards and there are directors who just want to lord it over others. The same goes for actors that are just plain sick and they are the ones who are always getting the jobs.

This has GOT to be one of your best and most profound videos. As another Asian actor and filmmaker, someone who watched your videos for tips and landed a some parts on TV, and I also bumped into your acting profile when I was updating my own, I can do relate to your goals and dreams. As a working actor and coach, what you are saying here takes great bravery. We all know Jared Leto is bonkers but this really shows how unprofessional and corrupt the world can be. It takes bravery because you are calling out A list actors (some like Jared who are starting to do more KZbin and social media skits, and could potentially be checking out KZbin every once in a while) while they are still in the limelight. Most people only call out bad behavior when the rest of the world already agrees. It means a lot to stand up for what you believe in AS you pave your way in the industry. Neal McDonough is a good looking dude that refuses to kiss anyone other than his wife. My wife and I have the same rule. I found it surprising that Neal is one of the 1% who refuses to do kissing scenes and respect his promise. Sometimes your agent will send you on an audition involving scenes with A list actors and you never know who you’re going to bump into. I’ve seen extremely bad behavior from well known actors on and off set. Everyone will laugh or agree with their bad behavior. It’s for the good of the acting community to realize just because you are an expert in your craft doesn’t make it ok to do these things without the permission of others. Slapping someone in a scene without them agreeing to it is called Assault. I imagine that interview was before MeToo, look how the audience just sort of laughs or makes light of it. I have seen so many beginner acting classes where an actor says “I’m going to go method!” and do so many irresponsible things. I worked for a decently known actor. He would brag about making his staff cry, annoying the staff of his friend another actor, and even bragged about choking a producer and getting an entire show canceled (backing withdrawn.) it was messed up and I remember he would physically threaten us (in a joking way) by slamming his fist on the table and smacking the equipment. He had no idea I wanted to be an actor and he told us so many messed up things he did to people. Your channel is incredible and I love that it gives hope and guidance to every generation of actor. Sorry for the longer message, but I am rooting for you to make it and I’m glad you made this. This is incredibly well done and well said. I hope more people see your video

If you have problems with what the role calls for, if you don’t like it or aren’t comfortable with it don’t take the role. If you don’t like the subject of a film don’t see it. There is plenty of cinema out there to enjoy. Denying the way the world is isn’t going to make any change. The sound of freedom for example is uncomfortable to watch but it shines a light on a real problem that many people don’t know about.

What a fantastic video. I just watched an episode from Graham Norton with Hugh Grant. I'm from the UK. He is indeed known for being the stereotypical "stiff upper lip" Englishman. And yet he is liked because of past projects such as Notting Hill and other romantic movies. Hollywood is indeed very strange. I knew about the last two gentlemen who were blacklisted. I remember Neal McDonough in Desperate Housewives and as the villain Damien Darhk in the series Arrow. He was great! I also watched Kevin Sorbo as Hercules and in a more recent Christian movie. Also great. It's extremely honourable that they stood their ground but shame on Hollywood for blacklisting them. That method acting action was a disgusting thing to do. He even said it on a family platform. This is unacceptable. The Meryl Streep slap so strange. Very true. Actions speak louder than words. I watched that Amber Heard trial and was disgusted by her actions. She should be blacklisted. We need to open our eyes and be more aware. Thanks again for the video. It was really informative.

@mycattitudeАй бұрын
I hope he does a series on this crap, because there's plenty more to mine. As shocking as Meryl Streep getting full arm slapped by her male co-star, just cuz, he felt like getting into character. And pulling a far more aggressive/ passive aggressive stunt, is more like it, there's worse. I'm struggling to remember the director, but he's a huge name. Who directed, The Shining? He terrorized Shelly Duvall to get her into character. So much of her screaming and crying was actually real. She almost, or maybe did, have a type of break down from doing that movie and what that bastard put her through. Another one was what the mom in The Exorcist was put through, Ellen Burnstyn. She got seriously hurt, becuase the damn director wanted it to be real, so he let her get a serious back injury by not telling her what would really happen to her. One of the scenes where she gets slammed against the wall, she really got slammed and theyhurt her really badly. They also put the man who played the priest through it too. Shooting guns right beside his head to get "the right"' reaction. Crazy stuff.

I find Method actors to be rather selfish performers and I’d rather not deal with them as a director. When I was teaching, I invented what I called the “Nike School of Acting - Just Do It!” where you don’t waste time overthinking about how to react and just react the way you would if it was happening to you. Humans tend to react the same way to similar circumstances, so you don’t have to delve so deep into a character that you end up doing crazy things like Leto says he did. I’ve heard horror stories about Method actors who couldn’t break out of a character after the play was over, and obviously Heath Ledger let the Joker take over, so I’ve never recommended Method beyond using some aspects for building character.

For me, there should be room for redemption. Actors are human just like anyone else, and I'm not saying Dustin Hoffman, Jared Leto, or Christian Bale are innocent and should be given a second chance. I think there should be room for famous people to acknowledge when they've done something wrong. We don't forgive Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock because he's old enough to know better, laughed at the joke on camera, and was manipulated by his wife into assaulting another human being. Stuff like that can't be forgiven, and that applies to Dustin. Temper tantrums and bad jokes are possible miscommunications. Someone can think something is funny when it actually isn't, and everyone is capable of losing their temper - some more than others. The key is to know that and get the help you need so that you never do it again.

I'm an aspiring actor and filmmaker, but it's always best too look out for this things in Hollywood. Often actors fall into this quid pro quo situation with very successful producers. Even though no one really talks about it, there are many famous actors today that have fallen into the trap of doing things that make them uncomfortable such as inappropriate favors in order to get their foot into the door in Hollywood or even be considered for a major role. This is a very serious issue in Hollywood that many people need to talk about before it's too late and more people fall victim. I mean just look at all the horrible things Diddy has done and all the people he took advantage of and hushed them with money in exchange for a career in the music industry. It's a crazy world out there, so always be alert and cautious. No amount of money or fame is worth sacrificing your soul for.

All the sexual abuse stories that I hear about that happened in Hollywood scare me and I would never do any movie that requires nudity. Let's say for the sake of argument, if a movie did require that, I'd want to be able to wear a strapless shirt and be underneath covers for the illusion of a nude scene. I don't see why nudity should be a necessity in acting in movies.
