So far these have been interesting, covering a lot of the popular stories. Maybe some of the other stories that are hardly heard about, Rhoda Abott and her sons Eugene and Rosmore, or the families that never made it. More research on Edith Evans. I also here officer Moody wanted to go on tour with a friend but was told to report to the ship.

What is the point of Diana lying on the ocean floor. This statue was seen by many in the lounge that night who spent their last night alive there. That statue made it through all of the events of the sinking and is testimony to the trajic events of that night.

I like the comments of Kathy Bates and she asked Rose’s fiancé. “Was he going to cut her meat as well?”.She had him pegged and knew he was a tyrant and spoiled rotten.

Great video! He pointed out a lot of things that I never have thought about like the placement of the lifts, and that in the upper class, the stairway was more important than the lift, but in the second class, the lift was the centerpiece of most things because it was a modern device. I never thought about that.

Thank you for making my Christmas <3. I’ve been looking for a podcast like this! You have amazing knowledge and are a fantastic storyteller. It’s quite difficult for me to go through testimony in a foreign language in written form, so having such a well-done summary to listen to is incredibly helpful and enjoyable. I hope you’ll continue with the podcast - you ask the exact questions I would ask myself. And thank you for providing measurements in the metric system! I’ve been in love with Titanic since I was six years old, four years before Cameron’s movie, and I could explore and dig into this story over and over again. Greetings from Poland! :)

Okay, I’m an hour into this so forgive me if these things are brought up at a later point, but, a few fun notes of my own. 1. This movie’s historical accuracy for 1997 IS noteworthy, however I do not believe James Cameron is as deserving for a good chunk of that as it seems you do. We can not forget the people like Ken Marschall and Don Lynch who were on set daily to provide such historical accuracy. In fact, as you stated, some of that accuracy fell victim to the hand of Cameron for the sake of excitement and/or drama. (NOTE: You made these comments at a later point. Well done! 😂) 2. It’s my belief that James Cameron’s weakest point as a filmmaker is his writing. Cameron excels at visuals, NO QUESTION, but his writing is weak. Despite this, the film works exceedingly well. Why? Firstly, his faults as a writer do not get in the way of an overall pleasing script for mass audiences or his true talents as a visual storyteller. Secondly - but no less significant - is the value James Horner brings to this film in its score. The music written for this movie works in every scene possible. The tone, the placement, everything works just as it should to manipulate the audience’s emotions to fit what is happening on the screen and that is thanks to Horner. 3. Finally, a fun side note that you didn’t mention (yet) that you may not know is that the actor who played Archibald Gracie (Bernard Fox) was also in A Night to Remember playing Frederick Fleet. Adding yet another Titanic ‘97 cast member to the list of pre Titanic ‘97 film alumni.

Thank you for your thoughts! I absolutely forgot to mention Bernard Fox! Good catch! And yes I should have given a shoutout to James Horner. What is this movie without him?

I will die on the "Rose is dead" hill. One thing to suggest Rose has passed at the end is the ocean debris you see in first person shooting past before the ship appears. It looks an awful lot like you're flying through a night sky full of stars. In an earlier deleted scene, it is said by Jack that a shooting star is "a soul going to heaven". Just food for thought.

Hey James next time during intimate scene you can talk about the car they are sitting in. It's a made in France 1912 Renault Type CB Coupe De Ville. That's a known fact but what's unknown to this day is which color the car actually was. So Jim Cameron being Cameron a true perfectionist he did a research and found out that best selling color option was red. So red it is. Amazing idea this two part special 🙏

I want to use this comment as a big yap session on all cool fun little things I know about the 97 film: 1. There was a scene filmed that showed Boat 6 being loaded by Lightoller during the early stages of the sinking and showed some passengers refusing to enter the boat. 2. There is alot more footage of several lifeboats being loaded and lowered, and a cut shot showing the passengers on the promenade deck reacting to lowe shooting warning shots on boat 14. 3. There was a scene in which a steerage family was shown running through the D deck reception room as it began to flood. 4. McElroy was originally supposed to take Wilde's place as mentioned, but there is evidence to show that McElroy's scenes were filmed before he was changed out for Wilde. 5. There was a cut shot showing steerage passengers trying to go up the stairs leading to the second class promenade on B deck, but were being pushed back by a steward. 6. Apparently, a scene of the Countess of Rothes at the tiller of boat 8 was filmed, but im not too sure about it. 7. I dont remember if Jack mentioned this, but you can see the Master At Arms at the stern of the ship, trying to help Helga's family stay on the ship. He is also seen falling from the stern 8. There was a scene in which Rose saw one of the dogs in the water but was cut out. 9. There is footage of boat A rowing away from the ship as the ship was making its plunge, but was cut out for time. 10. You can see Moody swim away from the ship in the movie if I am not mistaken. Okay big yap session over thanks for reading if you did!

Want to go to a real party? Is up there but the moment when Rose is illuminated (literally and figuratively) and says "you unimaginable bastard." What a realization, and what a great insult while still being a classy lady. But, as a musician, the line that makes me cry no matter how many times I watch the film is "Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight."

So good! I wish they haf shown the Carpathia dropping off the lifeboats at White Star's pier before docking. But i think my favorite scene is passing the statue of Liberty in the rain with the simple music behind it. The statue of Liberty must have meant so much more in that moment to the passengers.

The officer who lets Cal into the boat and takes over the starboard side after Murdoch goes (and the one Murdoch salutes and who shouts, "No Will!") is absolutely Chief Officer Wilde, regardless of what the script says. Earlier in the sinking, Andrews addresses the very same actor as such when he asks, "Mr Wilde, where are the passengers?" You can see him in the background lowering a few boats, he comes into the conference at the end of the first half of the movie a little late, and he's even the one who lowers the boat with Rose in it. If you play close enough attention, you can track him (and Moody, who you can also follow through the sinking) fairly late into the sinking, where they disappear just before the funnel collapses and the focus switches to the stern. While Wilde reappears in the water with the whistle Rose ends up using, Moody was last seen clinging to a davit. Neither character was in the final scene in the Grand Staircase, and rumour has it that the actors just weren't around that day.
