It baffles me that this channel doesn't have 100k+ followers yet! That's the best Titanic podcast of the moment!

when i saw the photos of diana and the railing i cried so hard thank you for sharing and this wonderful episode! did you happen to be recording video/audio of the moment you all rediscovered her?

I DID! We hope to release it at some point. But I got the moment on my phone camera of us looking in silence and then "There it is!" and the smiles that followed.

EXCELLENT! Your excitement is very obvious in your voice, face and words. You know how I feel about retrieving as many artifacts as possible - so, I'll just repeat myself for repetition's sake - YES! Bring Diana and anything else possible to the surface. I agree with all your reasons.

Thanks to all those people who found it and yes it is beautiful and hopefully next year we can see it out of the ocean. And also that railing that fell off can be brought up. Well i hope it is recovered. That stature does not belong to any people. It is there for us to see.

RMS T has a real BAD record. Went to court because of it in 80’s and 90’s. THERE IS NOTHING DOWN THERE WE DONT KNOW ABOUT. we can remake everything…. You just want to hold THAT one. Despite it being in a giant grave yard, your emotions and feelings trump all that right?. Take a damned picture. I used to be a titanic freak but aged out of it.

Excellent as always James, but I gotta say - Diana should've been brought up the minute she was spotted 😎 I would've grabbed her since she would be in the good hands of RMST immediately.....kudos on this episode!
@WitnessTitanic3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! As much as we all wanted to bring her up, the mission was simply to image, not touch. We were not equipped to bring her up even if we wanted to. Maybe one day!
@KoolDog5703 ай бұрын
@@WitnessTitanic shame you didn't have the equipment cause the "observation rule" would've gotten tossed out the window (rules were made to be broken, after all 😉) in the last minutes of the expedition. If you go on the next expedition, can you bring her up?......Diana, Goddess of the Hunt, would be forever indebted to you and watch over you from her celestial heaven. Awesome episode! Knew you were gearing up for something big.....and you delivered 😎

I really hope we can recover her one day but no official plans to as of now! I always had something big planned but I was not expecting to go on THIS expedition and have something this exciting so early in the podcast!

Loved this ep. Would be super into others from the perspective of other artifacts: the big piece, Honour and Glory herself, the fourth funnel (i assume a lot of imposter syndrome there) come to mind. Also…on your Lightoller episode…mind was blown regarding the lifeboat capacity with regard to safe lowering. His depiction may only be second to Ismay in terms of unfair, negative coverage.

That's actually a great idea. I may have to dive into more artifacts like this!

Was great…..once we finally got there. Over 10 mins of fluff was a bit much but I will stay in hopes of it getting better. Edit-sorry dude just too much filler talk for me but I love your passion for the subject…

Wasnt Titanic itself found on the last day of Ballards expedition? Seems fitting. Also love the passion.

From what I understand, it has been missing since she was scrapped. Almost no doubt in my mind that it is SOMEWHERE. Maybe in an attic under a sheet...

I believe in everyrhing you said at the end. Amazing video thanks so much. And most of the lost souls and survivors would want this statue brought up too see for generations to come. And the railing at bow that fell off I believe most people could not go the bow section either for some reason. Jack and Rose should not have been there.
@WitnessTitanic3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Yes, the very prow of a ship is a dangerous place to be. Modern cruise ships don't even let the crew up on that forward deck unless the ship is not moving. So even in 1912, passengers would not have been allowed that far forward.
@nager19973 ай бұрын
Helen Candie did go up there
@WitnessTitanic3 ай бұрын
This is actually up for debate. She does mention going to the bow but she isn't specific about what that means to her. She could have walked to the forward-most spot on A or B Deck (a common place to go for a 1st class passenger) and to her that's the "bow" because it's as far forward as 1st class can go and it's a great view of the prow of the ship. It is less likely that she actually walked all the way to the prow. But it is possible!

@@WitnessTitanic well rules are made to be broken. But given the time period I’m not sure how one would have behaved in regard to a sign that said not to. I know from a perspective of a 2024 person. For sure I’d give it a go and try to get to the bow. But as a 1912 person well. I guess back then they were more inclined to obey the rules. But then again they were still human and thorough out all time there have been rule breakers.
@WitnessTitanic3 ай бұрын
There's actually some interesting takes by historians explaining that gates and doors weren't even necessary to keep the classes apart in 1912 because following societal rules were vital to ones reputation. If a 2nd class passenger was caught in 1st class... how embarrassing! So these signs were powerful!

Thank you so much James. Perfect podcast. Happy to see Diana. I'm totally agree with you about recovering the artifacts. Its all about saving and remembering and it's very important mission for people who live now, next generations may not have a choice what's can be done with all that unic objects of history because of time passing and corrosion.

What’s the reasoning that Ballard wouldn’t tell anyone where it was if he’s known all along?
@WitnessTitanic3 ай бұрын
I believe it was so Diana would not be recovered. Ballard does not approve of recovering artifacts, especially back in the 80s when it was more uncertain what was to happen with the artifacts. Which is fair.

Two objects that are now being obsessed over are a statue (yes its beautiful) and a railing. Nothing but a ploy by the company to justify more salvage as if the over 5000 objects that have already been recovered isn't enough.
