Thanks for detailed analysis. I hope the iPhone 16 models will make the distance between cameras larger.

Sharing 3D video on iPhone is easier than the Lume Pad 2 itself 😭😭😭
@josh_3D11 ай бұрын
True, the Lume Pad 2 really needs an app like Spatialify to allow exporting of videos to sbs
@stephenbard15908 ай бұрын
The Quest headset software has now been updated to view Apple "spatial videos" taken with the iPhone, but why bother when the Lume Pad 2 and a variety of standalone 3D cameras like the Qoocam EGO do a better depth job.

Thanks for this test. Too bad it just doesn't take the raw file and understand it. I will do my tests with my Raw file from my Sony TD-10 but I have it in storage at the moment during the move. Do you know if the 14 pro has Spatial 3D filming? - Toronto, Canada.
@josh_3D11 ай бұрын
Yea it would be nice if you could just import the spatial file and directly view it without a conversion step, but the only way that’s gonna happen is on Apple products like Vision Pro and eventually if Apple releases their own 3D iPad. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are the first and only iPhones to support spatial video capture

Tried to return my 1 month old iPhone 14 and upgrade to 15 Pro for the 3d but the store refused my contract too late to exchange so bummed. Bought the cheaper and better 3d camera Qoocam Ego 3d. Now very happy!

@@eeemistr7237 Then I don't think you are missing much! Definitely gonna have much better 3D depth than the iPhone 15 Pro can deliver

If I shoot a 3D video on a lumepad 2 can i play it back in an apple vision pro headset?
@alanfbrookes97713 ай бұрын
Why would you want to? But I believe the answer is "yes".

Dumb question slightly off topic... There's not a built-in option for "spatial photos" on the iPhone Camera, right? It's only for videos?

6:34 -6:47 what about the Nubia pad 3d
@josh_3D5 ай бұрын
Everything that I said about the Lume Pad 2 works exactly the same on the Nubia Pad 3D. The upcoming Nubia Pad 3D II might be different
@AdamTrombitas-zi5wc5 ай бұрын
I knew that , but what is that makes the nubia pad 3d spacial?
@josh_3D5 ай бұрын
@@AdamTrombitas-zi5wc I really don’t think there is any difference at all. I own both and the only thing is that the Nubia Pad 3D comes with a different set of pre downloaded sample videos, a different startup screen and default wallpaper. Everything else is exactly the same
@alanfbrookes97713 ай бұрын
There's no difference between Spatial and 3D. Apple only use the word "Spatial" to kid people that they have something new, and they want to avoid using the word "3D" which reminds people of the old 50s movies.

The iPhone's cameras might be a bit too close together for the Lume Pad's 3D effect to work well with it. 😅 I think the quality of the iPhone's 3D is better than most consumer-grade 3D cameras, but we still need something better. 🙂 I'd like to see Google give it a go and use the Pixel's "camera bar" design to spread the cameras out.

The 3D video is much worse than the 3D video from the Qoocam Ego 3D. For one, the Ego can shoot at 60 fps, which is actually important in 3D. The iPhone shoots only at 30P. And depth, etc. The Ego also vertically aligns the two eyes in camera.
@SquirrelHybrid11 ай бұрын
The Ego's dynamic range looks kinda bad by today's standards, so for me the iPhone looks better even though it's not as 3D or as smooth. I'm also viewing the videos on a 3D monitor, so the slower framerate isn't as big of a dealbreaker.
@alanfbrookes97713 ай бұрын
The lenses on the LumePad 2 itself are too close together. To get proper stereo you need an inter-lens separation equivalent to the average human interocular separation. Use a regular stereo camera and view the images on the Lume Pad. Besides, carrying a Lume Pad around to use as a camera is pretty clumsy. It's too big. Get a Fuji W3 which slips into the pocket, or a QooCam Ego if you don't mind that it has no flash and overheats.

Seems like a waste of time when you can just take pictures and video with the lumepad lol
