@@collinsngauge5493 I’ve been a long term Digitrax user but have found issues with loconet due to the fact my layout was rather large 240 points and 860 detection sections. @collinsngauge5493Ай бұрын
Hi I hope so 🤣🤣🤣
@iansngaugeАй бұрын
Hi Colin! Gotta love a pulling power experiment! There are obviously lots of factors at play here, such as the weight of the loco, whether or not it has traction tyres fitted, the steepness of the incline, the radius of the curves, the spec of the motor, the weight of each piece of rolling stock, whether or not the bogies of rolling stock are articulated or fixed, or using plastic wheels or metal ones, and whether metal ones exert extra friction from pickups... The list goes on! That big Challenger was amazing! It could probably pull you and the hairy controller up the helix! :) The couplers must also be good to handle the forces involved! I'd still be tempted to let the Merchant Navy haul the Pullman coaches, but only down the helix, it could then return lightly loaded for the next run! Cheers, Ian.
@collinsngauge5493Ай бұрын
Hi Ian three are alot of different factors but fun to try them. The couplings are the knuckle one and all of them are the one's with springs in. Colin

Hi Colin, getting really interesting for me now as you are running trains etc. All the complicated stuff goes way over my head. Very interesting about how many carriages can be pulled, just goes to show you what a bit of friction on the wheels can do. That american train, wow that can really do some pulling, very impressive. Not done anything in the loft sadly but my collection for the layout is growing. Hoping to start insulating the loft very soon then I can get on with the layout. Lot os love to the two ladies in your life, hopefullyu see you all at TINGS.

Hi Chris and so nice to hear from you. And yes to see you at Tings. Friction can course problems but we have to put up with it. Hi Colin. I hope the Hairy Controller received a treat for his blood donation (a cup of tea and a biscuit?). I don't know why, but I assumed you would use plaster bandage over the wire frame. Are you sure the lake is not a volcano caldera (LOL)? Have you already got some American cars (automobiles?) for the car park? You could also include the odd European/Japanse models for authenticity. I like the addition of a waterfall. I also like the name Reflection Cove.
@collinsngauge54932 ай бұрын
Hi Paul the hairy controller got extra bonios. The mesh is a plastic type the reason for using it is due to the amount of stuff I need to do all 4 layouts, in all fairness England and Japan doesn't need a great deal but America and Europe has a big mountain in each country up to the ceiling i would use plaster bandage but it's a cost thing, at the moment I haven't got any American vehicles yet come to think about it I haven't got any for Europe or Japan but in time I will. At the moment everything is going to plan the Trestle Bridge is out of the way for the last time all that area is going to be Hydrocal then coloured then the bridge is will be set in place for good. then I have 230 more pieces of wood to fit on to the bridge, exciting time ahead.
