Wen my daughter asked me wats a crooner n wat is the difference between a crooner n a singer. I showed her this n the outtro especially. The last 230ish or so n told her see, thats crooning. A crooner can be an excellent singer as well but a singer can't necessarily b a good or even able crooner. Elvis could do both. Sinatra too. But in modern day only Moz exist as the best of them. Ontop of incredible lyrics. Like a novelists who is a great storyteller n writer. He can learn the latter if he is raw but the former has to be there already like an intangible bc it can't really be taught. U can learn how to sing but to croon?? Imho, no. Btw, i know he doesn't care but if the minimum requirement for the RnR HofF is 25 yrs in the biz n 3 classic albums at least well Moz has 3 with The Smiths AND 3 to 4 solo. As well as one of the Top 10 lyricists ever.

Just listened to this for the first time in years and it brought a big smile to my face immediately. I wish the Smiths would reunite for just one night.
To me this is one of the most intense rock songs ever made, even compared to all these hard rock and metal bands

This song really works with two guitars, especially with Johnny playing the keyboard parts on his.

When i joined the army i bought gold mother the day i left home. I was 15, 6 weeks later one of the boys in our section was killed. I would always listen to music to sleep and when this came on it was like a cuddle to myself. I think everyone in that room cried their heart out to this. I love this song it has meant so much xx
