I've only just discovered this channel but you're absolutely spot on. I truly love this album, it gripped me from the very first listen and has never let me go. There's nothing else like Skinny Puppy

15:08 totally agree with this. Have you heard of RAILWRX? They’re very much in this vein of industrial. The one review I was able to find on them sort of compared them to FLA.

14:34 phenomenal video. I totally agree. This was the big departure for them into a new way of doing things and I think it’s largely because Rhys joined the fold.

Excellent video - excellent comments - excellent review (I am now a subscriber). I remember buying this CD at Camelot Music at Century III Mall (near Pittsburgh) and once I got home and listened to it, I was truly amazed! I saw them live at The Metropol (after an autograph signing at Eide's), and briefly met Bill and Rhys. I was fortunate to get an additional opportunity to catch up with Rhys after the show, and he gave me a quick tour on stage of his live rig (from what I recall an Akai S1000 and a Kawai K4). Great guys, and an absolutely great band! Thank you for this video!

Also, couldn’t agree more about Vanishing Point! I play synths and was fortunate enough to own a Roland D-20 at the time. I used to play this and Round & Round on it, sequencing the drums and all, constantly back in the day. 😁👍 Good times 🎵

Yay, a Feelgood vid! 👍👍 I stumbled upon Technique on vinyl when it first dropped… at a Pathmark! 🤪 Instant classic, needless to say! ❤️👍 p.s. I knew we were close in age… I was a freshman in high school when this came out 👌

I always liked the album. However the cover did it no favours. People do judge a book by it's cover.

Such a spot review! Technique is my 2nd favorite LP of theirs, as it was the perfect blend of the rock and electro period. As soon as Fine Time started, you knew the New Order upped their game! Love Less knocked it out of the park for me - what a great “Look Back In Anger” moment perfectly captured. I concur that Technique was the end of an era for New Order - they never seemed to have the same energy afterwards. Republic was not a favorite for me, and though it had slick production it lacked an identity unlike the previous records. Even the artwork seemed to take a dive. The band will always be lauded (and rightly so) but I suspect these days people are listening to their past and not the present. Nice to have you back 🙂

Yes WIM did get to number 1 in the UK.Their one and only. PCL is most likely my favourite New Order album but Technique is awesome. Vanishing Point is in my top 5 New Order songs.

The last great New Order album? Possibly 😆 I do like this album it's not my personal favourite but it's up there! It's great you're back! So many bands to get this great format from you! Cough Wire! 😂 As an older DJ at this time loads of great stuff I was doing Rock, Indie, Dance, Alternative whatever that was? I did house and electronic not to the same level as yourself but I was not as good as some other great DJ'S so did less as I got a proper job! The Shamen, Jesus Jones, were popular in the Midlands in the UK! Where I was based! Laughably Britpop which wasn't a genre in my eyes! 👍great video!

Lov'it. Something to remember is Armed Audio Warfare and Storm the Studio were part of a 'restoration' process. The original recordings were destroyed in a fire. So there's a synergy between these two records, as they were trying to 'recreate' the original thought and production that was lost. I put Jack Dangers up there with Prince as being one of the most influential musicians of the popular era.

Hey man whats going on with the channel?, have you retired to Dischord? Interesting this video got so many views when it could be perceived as their most ordinary album. Hope all is well.

Josh Hommes Desert Sessions 9&10 album is well worth a listen seeing as Polly Jean features on 8 of the songs on the album. Crawl Home, Powdered Wig Machine and I Wanna Make It Wit Chu are superb in my 'umble. Dead In Love is excellent as well though it sounds like a QOTSA song that has PJ playing some weird sax on it! (What about the B Sides & Rarities album by the way!)

Great album. Also eagerly anticipating Bill Leeb's new album which is out in in September. Sounds great so far. Kinda has the classic FLA sound to it.

It’s funny to me this is even better than anything from Portishead. It’s rare that artists put out their best work later in life.

This is the first video I watched on your channel and I like how cool and unpretentious your approach is. Of course the album is one of the year's best. For the vinyl aficionados I would recommend the excellent limited edition with heavy gatefold and lots of bits and bobs.

Your list was not weird. The 2 Mercury winning albums were in the top. The only differences with most of their list is that usually White Chalk and Is This Desire? are in the bottom half, and Dry and Rid of Me are in the top half. I am the ones who prefer Dry and Rid of Me to White Chalk. But I agree with you that PJ Harvey doesn't have bad albums. And I agree to include Is This Desire? in the top half. This is my favorite underated album. An interesting fact: Is This Desire? is the only PJ Harvey album in which both John Parish AND Rob Ellis worked on it. The other albums had one of them OR other.

My first - and favorite - New Order. The weaker songs and weird flow just add to the charm. Totally spot on about ending the album with Every Little Counts.

When was last time Rolling Stone was right about music? And I am talking about coming to the party late, seeing what is safe to declare “good” and then acting like they are the authority on it. Greatest “this or that” lists is all they know. But it’s true - there’s bad covers, and then there are funny ones. The point of the cover was to tell you what’s in the can!

The pronounciation is not “front two four two”. You should read it like in french. So it’s “Fron deux quatre deux”. I know as I met them back then. I went to the same shop they went. Unfortunatly the shop is gone already for decades.

Totally agree! All their releases still sound ahead of themselves to this day..very unique true artistry… I feel the same way about Dead can Dance.. both bands were not playing around with genres or popularity.. I own all original releases by both bands from the start in the 80’s… I treasure them as art work on my walls… that’s another thing about their art work used…

Like others, I am loving this NW deep dive! I think I liked Brotherhood better than you did, however I will admit that you are correct in that it was hit-or-miss for songs. I love tracks 2-5 on side A, but for me side B didn’t hit the same for me, but will agree that Every Little Counts is a nice send off, however I don’t see it played much by itself. I must say that State of the Nation is the only NW single I don’t care for. I agree that Technique was an awesome bounce back - maybe they needed Brotherhood to get there?

Love the New Order run I liked Brotherhood and played it a lot when it came out! However it didn't hold the interest and I went back to the other albums its a good album and better than the recent stuff! Again the battle to get the 12" singles good one! 👍
