Peek-A-Boo is an incredible track. I vividly remember seeing it on The Chart Show on Channel 4 where it was Video Of The Year. Still got a tape of it somewhere.

Hi, i own all the Banshees studio albums and on everyone of their albums there is at least one or two essential tracks. But my personal favourite album is JUJU. Everything about that album is near perfect , the only thing i think could have been improved was a few of the lyrics but it`s still excellent. And the thing that takes it to another level is John McGeoch`s guitar sound. He created a sound that was very dark and atmospheric but also very beautiful. His style of playing on JUJU wasn`t him just playing chords or riffs like a lot of guitarists do. He was creating sounds that had character and creates a mental images when i listen to those tracks. Before i heard JUJU i had heard loads of excellent guitar based tracks but on that album McGeoch created a sound that was unique. The Cures track A FOREST had a similar guitar sound and atmosphere to McGeoch`s JUJU playing but nothing else around at that time compared to his sound. Plus another reason JUJU is probably my favourite Banshee`s album is because it features the track THE MONITOR. What a masterpiece that track is. I have a couple of the PEEPSHOW 12" singles you show but i`m still trying to collect some more of them. One of the things i find odd about the Banshees and a couple of other bands around that time is how they were formed out of literally nothing. They had no music background, they had never sang in public , they had little or no experience of playing instruments yet they got together and out of nothing created something vital and real. I love the Banshees and the Creatures. Thanks from England.

Please do a video about SPK🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Anyway, great video, always loved SATB and the animals, among the greateast post-punk bands and an important transition act between post punk and alt rock. Shoot out from Senegal 🇸🇳🇺🇸

That’s a brave choice for a favorite! I tend to choose Banshees albums more upon which guitar player they had, and chronological order tends to dictate that.

My fave as well. Scarecrow, Killing Jar, Peek-a-Boo, Turn to Stone, The Last Beat of My Heart.... just a solid album from front to back. 👍

I really like the old stuff alot hong kong garden era for the singles. Peep show is my favorite full album of hers. many nights were spent listening to this on repeat in full smoking ciggs with my goth friends in the late 90's.

Peepshow is without a doubt the best Banshees album. Juju is still my favorite though. Wasn't able to get into Superstition or The Rapture.

Saw them for that album in 88 at Radio City Music Hall with Tangerine Dream opening for them.

Tangerine Dream?? Wow, that's beyond cool.

Tough choice on the best Banshee record, however I will agree that “Peep” fires on all cylinders as a well rounded effort from the group the at is equal parts pop, art and rock all in one. I would say that it’s a fight between “Juju” and “Dream House” for my favorite Banshee record,as I am a sucker for McGeoch’s guitar work. But “Last Beat of My Heart” is probably my favorite song of theirs - it’s up there with “Into the Light”, “Dazzle” and “Killing Jar”. You were correct in stating such versatility of which we rarely hear anymore from anyone!

I’ve been looking forward to a SATB post from you, and here it is! One of my favorite bands ever is SATB. My intro to them was from a movie called “out of bounds”. The band made a brief appearance with “cities in dust”. “Peepshow” was my proper intro to them and I was hooked! “My favorite song from this album is a toss up between “the killing jar” and “the last beat of my heart”. Every track, including b-sides, are stellar! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite album from them. I’d have to go with “Juju”. The late John McGeoch’s guitar work makes it a perfect record for me. I mean, when I think about it, the US version of “Hyaena” is up there for me as well. I mean, having Robert Smith as your guitarist is next level bad ass. They were such a unique band and even now, no one sounds like them. As always, what an excellent video. I love when you show the singles!

Everyone's favorite is "Juju", that much is very clear. I do love that album, I guess I have a hard time rating the albums past "Peepshow". I need to listen to Juju again.

Peepshow was certainly a swing in another direction but like you say siouxsie doesn't do bad albums! It is excellent!

UK singles could only be a certain length, otherwise they wouldn’t qualify as eligible for the singles chart and would instead be classified as remix albums , EPs or mini albums. Also it was used as marketing ploy. Bands would release a 7” single, a 7” picture disc, a cassette single, a couple of 12”s , two CD singles, etc. and we as stupid, loyal fans would gobble them all up 🙄😅 (famously this is how the Heavy Metal band “Iron Maiden” made it to number 1 with the terrible “Bring Your Daughter…to the Slaughter”) My personal favourite Siouxsie album? Well, as a sad old Goth it has to be “Juju” but with hugely honourable mentions to “The Scream” & “Kaleidoscope” but fully agreed “Peek-A-Boo”, “The Killing Jar” & “Rhapsody” are A-f+*kin-mazing tunes🖤🤘
@occasionalfeelgood233 ай бұрын
Ahh, right. So even the remixes had to be shorter, got it. You'd think they'd put another edit of the album version on there and then the full remix or something. Everyone here has agreed that "Juju" is their best, so you're not alone!
