You’re going to LOVE building this! The CC-02 just feels so much more like building a real truck with the ladder frame. As to the differentials…it’s really going to depend on how you plan to use it. For my Bronco I’ve locked both the front and the rear. I don’t intend on using it on paved ground and I’ve geared it more for crawling so it’s going to be driven pretty slow as a result. So for me I want them locked so that it can handle climbing and more rough terrain. Your Bronco I think was geared for faster driving so it might be interesting to do this completely different so you can compare the two :)

Good point but as they will probably be going head to head and the fact that with crawling I belong to the Jeremy Clarkson school of More Power = Results, then maybe I shouldn’t lock them 🤣😂👍

Have fun with it and get to building! LOL! For the diffs, if you are only running off road with it then go ahead and lock them up. It will reduce the turn radius a little but otherwise won't hurt. On road driving is going to be a little rougher on it and it is going to chatter and hop some when turning. The drive train is pretty tough in these and can handle either one but a lot of on road driving you will probably prefer the unlocked ones. You can always pack the diff with really sticky grease and it will be a little bit of both. So I may have helped or made it more difficult giving you a 3rd option!
@RCsoandso Жыл бұрын
Well options are good, to be honest I feel for what we do the diffs shouldn’t be locked, as it will do a bit of normal driving, and we are not the crawling kind, it’s more of a rambler 🤣😂👍

Great unboxing. I want Shaun the Sheep. The CC-02's a great chassis. Best wishes for the Cief Engineer.

It would be an interesting look, it’s something I’m debating. I’m sure he will be ok, just needs to stop carrying sausages in his back pocket 🤣👍

Nice model! Since you both have a CC-02 kit now you could showcase the whole differential-jazz, comparing locked versus open diffs. Locked differentials would not be for me since I want to be able to drive it anywhere & I will probably only crawl when I am (almost) dead. Thanks again!

I must admit crawling seems a bit slow for my taste, but when I drift it’s accidental as usually it just falls over and skids along on its side 🤣😂👍

Camel Trophy Truck or a Paris Dakar inspired paint job😈

I used to know a chap that used to work Pitt crew on the Paris Dakar, said it was one of the hardest things he ever did, working whilst being that drunk 🤣😂👍

Should be a fun hopefully not too fiddly of a build. Hope the Chief Engineer is on the mend - if he has to focus on his backside wound - it should keep him off of your backside to get this built. Have a great week sir.

Yes I am sure he will be fine and true I would think he would have that to keep him busy and not worry about my lack of progress with the model, but for how long 🤣😂👍

Surely Solihull is the best place to buy I defender from? Merely commenting for interaction ( only slight pedantry)😂 keep it up, and buy a dancing rider, you will love it! Honestly
@RCsoandso Жыл бұрын
I think good Defenders are hard to find, I’ve seen a few on Auto Trader but they seem to be down south! The Dancing Rider is a possibility but the list is long, it’s not ruled out though 🤔😂👍

@@RCsoandso they are cheap, you will buzz for days on a Car park, battery is tricky unless lipo though, I know you object to them.

A Dancing Rider I will consider but a Lipo is a no no for me 🤣

The Land Rover defender in the us are rebadged ford explorers. Not the 215 aluminum v8 powered awesome machines they used to be

The old defender is an engineering masterpiece, this new one they have just looks like a baby Range Rover 🤔👍

As i see it, lock the diffs If you want it's to be a toy... Don't if you actually want it to handle....
@RCsoandso Жыл бұрын
I think I agree, with you really, for the kind of action we do on a regular basis I feel locking them would take that fun away 🤔👍

You're gonna enjoy this! One little bug in the ointment... Tamiya, being Tamiya, decided to go against ALL RC crawler principles, and go with a Chassis mounted Servo... AND a 4 link front suspension! Ask the Engineer how much bump steer that creates!!! :0 I sorted mine perfectly by bodging together an Axle mounted Servo bracket (a la SCX10 One). It now has perfect handling, and very precise steering. I HAD to bodge one together, because i don't believe anyone is making a proper conversion kit... Don't fret, it obviously works as built..... it just works BETTER with Axle mounted Servo! It's so crowded in there, that it doesn't stand out, like on larger trucks. Just something to think about. Cheers!!

Tsmiys does seem to like making the steering a bit vague, I am surprised that the after market crowd has not come up with something, but I will 100% look at this now, well, when i start the build. I do want to get it built ready for when the weather changes so I can do some bulk painting projects as thats whats holding me back mainly 👍

No it's waterproof they show it in pictures being put in water. Also I think the new Land rovers are much better looking than the other one.
