0:43 after bend you should land on fret 17 D string not 16
@JoseOrozcoGuitarАй бұрын
Hi my friend. Fret 17 on the D string is a G note and since the song is in F# that wouldn’t be a nice note to play over the F# chord which happens on the downbeat of that bar. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Nothing beats the sublime crunch of a Les Paul. Brilliant tone, dude! And I am aware that comes mainly from the hands of the player.
@JoseOrozcoGuitar2 ай бұрын
@@JayZed-tl5bc hey Jay, you’re absolutely right! The Les Paul is a beast of an instrument. It’s very hard to get that rough hard rock edge from other guitars even guitars that are made for metal. There’s just something about it. Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated!

One cool thing about the intro is one guitar is going to the 7 7 on that last note like you demo here but the other guitar stays on the 9 7. It's weird because my ear has a hard time hearing the 7 7 low part and I had to listen a few times to pick it up.
@JoseOrozcoGuitar2 ай бұрын
Hi my friend, thank you for noticing this! I actually did record another guitar overdub that I did not include in the tab for the intro. You have a very good ear for picking this up, because it's not that easy to tell at first. I wish I would have tabbed out the guitar as well. Maybe I will make an updated version with the second guitar. Cheers!

How can I achieve this tone on spark?
@JoseOrozcoGuitar3 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, thank you for your question! Honestly, I think I could have done better with the tone here. I've only used Spark products a couple times so I'm not too familiar with their tone settings, however I can say that a nice distortion preset with a little bit of reverb and delay should work nicely for this solo. There is a section where Prince engages a wah pedal, so that could be useful too. I usually record using virtual amp sims or other software as opposed to using real amps and pedals, although I would like to do more of that as soon as I get a new setup going. Cheers!

This stunning Prince solo came after Rolling Stone magazine published their list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Players of all time. Somehow, they left Prince off their list. 🤔 After the George Harrison tribute performance, Prince was asked about being snubbed by Rolling Stone. He reportedly said, "Oh that. Well now they know."
@JoseOrozcoGuitar4 ай бұрын
Amazing, right? I always think those lists are crazy and omit so many great players. Alex Lifeson of Rush being another. Then years later, they released an updated list, but by then it was already too late! haha thanks for commenting my friend!
