narrator explains how dangerous the neighborhood was with daily fights, robberies, and assaults and then explains how police officers were mean and racist. Do you think the fact that the police were constantly spending time in such a dangerous crime ridden area could have affected their view and treatment of the residents there? maybe going home to their families at the end of the day was a higher priority then being gentle with the criminals they were forced to come into contact with? or nah, just racism?
