Thank you for this video and sharing all your knitting and sewing projects, I'm always so happy when a video from you comes out 🥰 and funny thing, a friend of mine have seen your channel (in one of her social media feed I guess) and thought of me (and rightly so!), so today she's just shared your channel to me, telling me people said it's a nice one 😊 Can't wait to watch all your future videos!

Have just watched your comments vid from 4 months ago and am have now watched this one 😂. And yes, I have just cast on some of these for my husband, using aran stash. He suffers from bruising around his legs from welly slap(workboots)! Hope this will help 🤞🏻. Thanks for the inspo. Absolutely love your vids, voice and, of course the stars of the show, your 2 adorable black cats 🐈⬛❤ X P.s. You're now at 20.9K. Well deserved 👏👏👏

Loved the run down of all your projects. Thanks for sharing. You make me want to crochet garments again. I crocheted for years then discovered knooking (knitting with a crochet hook) and never really went back to crochet but I love your scrappy crochet projects. Why do scrappy projects look so much better in crochet than they do knitted 😂. Oh and I make cat toys for my fur babies too. You have to know you cat and how stupid/smart they are. I used to get so much grief of my family and friends for giving our cat the chicken carcass after a Sunday lunch. I just don’t think none cat owners get what cats do outside and they are not dogs. Plus our cat was feral before we adopted her so she love love loved being given the carcass and knew exactly what to do with it. If any of her toys got broken or scruffy she would either look at them with disgust or cry until I fixed it. 😂

Easy, free-ish stitch markers for knitting - cut up a straw in to tiny lengths. Can’t easily reseat them, but if you need to remove them, it’s easy to cut them off. (I wind yarn cakes by hand on an empty mini-M&M tube. 😅)

Great video, thank you for sharing! It's so extra helpful to see knitted (and sewn) garments on a moving body, and hearing opinions about the fabric and wear-and-tear of different yarns. And as a member of the IBTC (Itty Bitty Titty Committee), I can confirm that raglans are a better fit, at least for me. I have yet to knit a circular yoke that lays properly (there's always some sort of unsightly bubbling above the bust), and drop-shoulders totally flatten my chest out completely (but that doesn't stop me).

Drop shoulders are my favorite cuz I also find them pretty flattening 😂

So many gorgeous sweaters!!!! Do you have a recommendation of the 1st ever sweater knitting project? Maybe something that has a good pattern and a video that accompany with it so I can learn how to read a knitting pattern in the same time?

Kutovakikas Cinema sweater is a solid start. She has a really good video to pair with it. It’s a slightly larger but not too bulky gauge. That way it works up quickly but isnt too bulky.

Sotak Handmade has a YT channel but also makes bag patterns. She's a knitter and lots of her designs are fantastic for project bags. She's great to learn from, not complicated but to the point. If you ever want any help let me know I've made bags/purses, etc, quilts, garments, you name it. Knitting is my newest hobby but have been sewing for 30 years. You are doing Amazing!!

I'm not even done watching this episode and already LOVING how you reference what episode your items are featured in, literally the only person who I've seen doing this! It's an amazing touch and just shows how much you truly care about the quality of your videos <3 aboslutely love it! Started watching you last year and have gone through your entire catalogue of videos by now. You're so inspirational and really just speak to me, personally, on a whole other level. Thank you and keep it going! Will be refreshing my sub page to make sure I don't miss your uploads! On another note though... what's a good cashmere yarn and where can you buy good quality cashmere? I'm based in Europe and usually have a couple of brands that pop up when searching online, but never anything that feels more... sustainable?
@BreathingYarn11 сағат бұрын
I haven’t explored cashmere much at all. I liked Dream in Color cashmere but that was so pricy. Amazon has tehete cashmere which is nice but probably not the best company in the world lol

I had to make slippers for my college fibre class last year. We had to design and hand in a pattern. I learned that good, comfy shoes and house slippers are a sort of foot sandwich.😂 The layers help create a base that will form a fab sole, which will become the exact shape of your foot. 2 months after I made them, I never wanted to take them off because they're the most comfortable things I have ever made. I highly recommend using the sandwich method. Slipper sandwich: Leather=brea Cork=meat and Fabric=cheese Yarn scraps=lettuce Repeat cheese to contain the yarn scraps inside. Sew the cheesy lettuce in between two layers of cork meat Insert sandwich goods inside the bread. Then, you can crochet or knit the sides of the slipper bread crust (aka the seam line) and work up the way of the foot as far up as you wish. I did the lining and then repeated the process for the outside so it looked seamless. I love my slippers. But when these give up the ghost (or I cave cause I want another pair. 😅). I want to crochet them out of leather cord on the outside and some fancy soft linen on the inside.
@BreathingYarn11 сағат бұрын
That is such a good way to explain it. I love that.
@Michellerosecusack10 сағат бұрын
@BreathingYarn just be sure to make a left and right foot for the bottom And top of all the layers save for the lettuce layer of thesandwich. Then only put the left bottoms to the left tops. Most people don't have the same foot shape to their right and left feet. So if you mix up the meat, cheese or bread layers it will feel uncomfortable on your feet.

In case it helps with the ends poking out of your crochet garments/accesories. (I am still learning but it has mostly worked) Try when you are weaving the ends , after you passed the needle through the fabric, to pull on the yarn a lot, to scrunch the fabric and have more free yarn, passed it one more time on a different direction, like an L shape, sort of down and left, cut the yarn, then stretch the fabric and it should hide between the threads 20:56

An idea for mitigating the drying effect of cotton yarn: soak the ball of yarn in wool wash that contains lanolin (like eucalan) then let it dry. The lanolin should keep your hands from getting dry. I haven‘t tried it myself but theoretically it should work

I was so ready to be down on myself for how "little" I knit in 2024, because I really only understood the stitches and what I was actually doing in July of 2024. My spouse wasn't going to let that stand, and he went through the house getting everything that I had made for us, and then listed all the gifts I gave. "You did so much, hun. More than enough. More than you or me or anyone else in the family thought one person could knit in a year." So it's all about perspective. And how we can be our own harshest critic, and no one is immune to outside influence.

Looking forward to the video about yarn for sensitive skin! I recently knitted a whole sweater with Drops Alpaca. In the shop it was sooo soft, but when knitting it got really itchy. Blocking helped somewhat, but not enough. Now I'm nervous other yarns turn out to be itchy too, even if I loved them in the shop.

To be honest I don't prioritize sustainably certified yarn or recycled yarn. To me the most important aspect of sustainability in my knitting is making sure that I use what I make as much and as long as possible. In that it's far more important that the material holds up and that I like it and want to wear it. If I buy yarn I love and knit something I might not wear as much as I thought I'm motivated to unravel and use that lovely yarn for something else. And often I unravel mid project to make sure the result gets as I like it.

I watched the granny vest process in real time so to speak and I still like it but, gurllll, that neck is fan-freaking-tastic. You didn't ask, but my opinions are always free so here goes. On the Arctic Lights sweater I like it sooooo much better with the shorter neck. I've always thought the bigger neck was too big for the top and detracts from the cables. JMO (free 😅)

I totally hear you with the raglans, I have to watch out with them too. The Arctic Light is also totally on the pattern though, as you mentioned the cables in the raglan cinch in. That makes them look tighter bordering too tight on everyone, even if they aren't. It's a pity, because it is a gorgeous sweater otherwise. It still looks good and very cute on you too!

I really appreciated your words on not liking something when it’s freshly done, but then coming back to it and giving it another chance! In connection with the yarn-sensitivity. I remember you once asked if the drops “soft tweed” is indeed soft. My honest answer is - no 😅 I did a cardigan out of it, which was not anywhere near my neck, but the yarn ended up to itchy even for my arms 🙈 And I do not consider even myself yarn-sensetive
