Has anyone ever stitched an elderly mermaid?

I like to do the number of stitches of the temperature of the day, like if it's 83 degrees, I do 83 stitches. I decided to just add those to the piece I do all the monopoly stitches on (I follow Jenn the caffeinated crafter's monopoly game and "play" as the dog). I didn't want to switch pieces, so I'm not.

I just got randomly recommended your video (probably because I do a lot of full coverage pieces and I watch flosstube and WIP parades). That is a lovely finish! I'm watching while trying to finish the 2024 HAED SAL, also doing the Cat. I hope you continue with it as it does turn out beautifully. And big yes to getting to 5% on stuff. As to the HAED "mass exodus", most of the artists were retired back in Feb. because of the whole Sheena Pike thing, where she was with HAED, then with Charting Creations, then both and the owner didn't like that. And then a bunch of other artists got caught up in the backlash due to having the same agent as Sheena. Though, yes, some have left over the whole AI thing. That sucks about them not getting back to you about the chart. I did sign up for the 2025 SAL as I really did enjoy them when on the Bulletin Board. They were smaller and there were fewer choices (also free). I don't like that they went bigger, but I think I can do the 6 pages to get the other charts. I can totally understand not deciding to participate.

Welcome back! I am a huge nightmare before Christmas fan, and (to me) that piece of weird hair looks like the hill they stand on. Maybe it’s worth a thought if that’s the only thing keeping you from stitching on it. I enjoy all your full coverage pieces, looking forward to seeing 2025!

Thank you! Yeah a couple other people have mentioned that, and while I can see that being the intent it is just drawn too wispy and hair like, especially coming off of Sally's head. And I think I never thought of that because it doesn't do the full spiral at the tip.

I’ve watched this twice and keep meaning to comment 😂 Totally agree about the HAED situation. That’s pretty shit what she did regarding that chart you got, but honestly not surprising. And if you “go public” and post it in the Facebook group you would get banned and blocked because she can’t take criticism. I don’t like what they did with next years Sal either. More money, charts are larger to make it harder for people to finish, and if you do you get one pattern instead of two. Granted they have the free patterns for every 1k participants but those aren’t of your choosing so if you don’t like them, sucks to suck. Love the parade btw, it’s about time you posted 😂😂 hope to see you again before the end of the year 😂

Yeah I have heard that about posting in the group. I'm expecting there to be people upset they don't get their free charts year because they did something wrong in their submission. That is the other thing I was going to mention is that it seems to be unecessarily confusing and strict to submit for rewards, almost like they want people to do it wrong. I just started watching your four part parade, I should finish by the new year LOL! I thought I had a lot of WIPs, wow!

Your stitching is beautiful. You and I have the same idea of stitching. I will never finish stitching all my projects, but I continue to buy new charts,and that is okay.

I totally get why the hair of Sally is bothering you. I would recommend just to cut the pattern yourself. I use the "mark full page" option in pattern Keeper and just mark anything I want gone and stitch the rest. So you will not have to restart or buy a new pattern. You can frog anything that will be visible when framing, which won't be much in your case, and the rest of the top left corner you did will be cut or folded to the back anyway :) I absolutely feel the same about haed and the haed SAL.

I don’t think that’s Sally’s hair. I think that’s the curvy hill they take turns singing on in the movie

I can see how that could be the intention, and I hadn't thought of that I think because it doesn't fully curl back in on itself and it's drawn wispy like hair so I'm not sure if I can get over my initial interpretation.

I have issues with HAED charting. I feel that they are more concerned about releasing as many charts as they can as quickly as they can rather than taking time to manually adjust charts after the software has converted the art to cross stitch.

Yeah you actually see a lot of people with that complaint when you start doing some digging. They do pump out the charts.

You can also get a magnifier that clamps to a desk or table they work great and they have a light it’s awesome

Hi Shaun, your video popped up, so I thought I would give it a try. And wow, you have so many beautiful pieces to stitch on.... It was very interesting to watch your wip-parade. I also mainly stitch full coverages. Four years ago I restarted stitching with pre-printed kits from AlieExpress... and today I'm into HAED's, Artecy, Charting Creations, Stitching Jules and many more designs..... They are so much fun to stitch. What a beautiful hobby we all have. Thanks again for your video and hopefully to see you soon again. A new subscriber from Switzerland 🤗

Nice projects. Love a good full coverage wip parade. With the jack and Sally piece, why don't you crop the chart you have instead of giving haed more of your money

Thank you! That is a good suggestion I might play with that in pattern keeper, however I am not opposed to buying more haed, I'm not flat out boycotting, they just aren't really my favorite anymore.
