My dog literally don’t care about any of these, at least with me. He doesn’t seem to care, maybe with the playing with other dogs but he normally hasn’t had another dog his size to play with either.

My staffy barks on walks to certain bigger and smaller dogs. He barks at strangers who come near me and the house. But he is a great dog.

No mention of the biggest issue - separation anxiety.

I went to my local shelter and adopted a beautiful male brindle staffy, and went to a local rescue and rescued a female blue pitty. They are incredible dogs, both dogs are such cuddle bugs

Don't get me wrong, I love staffies and have had two. However....... they suffer from terrible separation anxiety which means you cannot leave them alone for more than 10 minutes. They'll break out of their crate / house / yard to come find you and then end up lost or picked up by the dog pound. Best dog ever if you can be with them 24/7/365

So ... both were bread from the same breeds (given it was at different era and for different purpose), one is smaller on AVERAGE so you cannot really got by it, many colors for each kind not even counting the mixed breeds and regarding character differences: when the chase you on the street, one of them will do this affectionately while the other will kill maul you 'gently' and 'clownish' fashion. Thanks!

Staffys are incredible dogs, I adopted 1 from our local shelter, and I also adopted a pitty, from a rescue. Both are great. Sadly both nreeds are banned in many provinces in Canada. People totally misjudge them

Staffie are ALLERGIC to Wandering Jew, if your Staffie breaks out in sores on its belly or legs, odds are they found some. It’s easy to train a Staffie to walk off the lead, but only do it in dog parks because there are lots of fools about

I love my house hippo. It's all in how you raise the dog, His best friend is my 8lb Cairn terrier. It's awesome watching my staffy, my pitbull and my Cairn terrier running around playing with each other or out in the woods just exploring.
Have a rescue American Staffy and she best princess ever!

I just adopted a “pit bull” from my local pound. She’s approximately 1 1/2 years old. I had never heard of the staffordshire. However the more I’m researching I believe I adopted a staffordshire. Can an expert tell from pictures? I’m wondering if I could send some pictures of her to someone they could tell??
@tritchie627211 күн бұрын
Personally I believe I would prefer the reserved nature of the amstaff. Alsio from what I've researched Pitbulls over 40 pounds is abit rare. They do exist,but a real pit over 40 or 50 pounds is rare. Also if your pit still has those game dog instincts they can at times be problematic around other dogs. Now Pits can be good dogs. You just need to know what you have and how to handle it. Pits are used alot for hog catching nowadays. And also used in Bandog programs.So I hope BOTH breeds stay around for a very very long time.

This history you gave is false information. The American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pitbull Terrier are 2 SEPERATE breeds. The pitbull derives from the Am Staff. But the Am Staff was NEVER called a pitbull or a Yankee terrier. They were called Pit Dogs, but NOT pitbulls. And it was the Pitbull breed that were called the Yankee Terriers, again NOT the Am Staff. The AKC did NOT change the name. They do not and will not accept the APBT on their registry because of it's history and original breeding purposes. The AKC, still specifically states, again, that these are and always have been 2 seperate breeds! American Pitbull Terriers have the Austrian and German Pincher Terrier genetics bred into them, Am Staffs do NOT. Even the picture you have as the thumbnail for this video, shows an APBT, that is NOT an Am Staff. Please reform this video with correct information.
@NoName-t7e8 күн бұрын
Do you ever make sense when you post? How do you not know that the AKC took APBT and then registered them as Staffordshire Terrier (later AST) but they were all APBT to start with? You do know there are still dogs that are duel registered as APBT and AST right?

so if i am at work about 9 hours totall 5 days a week as a normal working person which isnt on home office , i am not allowed to have staffy as a pet if i got it right
@NoName-t7e12 күн бұрын
These "educational videos" on YT are the worst. American Staffordshire Terrier - is just a modern show variant of his working ancestor - the American Pit Bull Terrier. And for decades your pit bull might have been dual registered as both American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier.

I had a Staffordshire for 13 years when we went to the shelter he had only been there for one day he was the quietest and calm dog I instantly knew that he would be ours as he came up to the dor Sat down as I looked into his eyes and I said to my mum he was the one for us it was hard at first and he did snap at my mum one time at home but that's when the shelter told us about what his original owner did to him but only 2 weeks later he changed became the most joy full and loving dog ever would never pull on his lead and on his walk days would bring his lead to me or my mum would see mee onto my school bus and be there when I got off outside my house miss you bud ❤❤

I think all dog, gun, and baby owners (yes, intentional ) and breeders should be required to have training. All dogs can be dangerous. That being said the laws need to have resources behind them so that breeders and bad actors can be checked. People abusing their dogs need to have consequences that are actually consequential. I have an amstaff who is amazing and wonderful, but the people who had him before abandoned so he was found in a busy city intersection. I was surprised to find I had to get over my own unconscious biases. I trust him completely, but also am aware of his limitations. He is not a dog park dog and needs skilled day care. We are crazy skilled handlers, and we still think people need training before owning dogs.

I just got my first Staffordshire, I been a GSD guy most my life or a Rottie. I have a blue staffy name Azul aka Blue. He is 6 months and the light of my world. He also keeps his 90lbs shepski brother in fantastic mood since he is only 14 months. Two High active dogs, twice the excitement and responsibility tbh thx the creator we are not to far from the dog beach about 30 min walk.

My Siberian Husky would give a burglar a guided tour of my house, then happily go home with said burglar. A "home" for a Husky is a place to be escaped from. But I used to have a 100-lb Akita. I'd challenge any human on the planet to break into a house with a large, protective, un-neutered male Akita waiting inside.

@Levi-hz2oy26 күн бұрын
I tell them apart by two main physical differences. Amstaff have relatively longer and more straight legs albeit that their body is similarly stocky and hence stand taller than the Staffy. Amstaff also have longer muzzle which makes their head look more brick-like than the Staffy, which in comparison have a more round face. Other than these, most Amstaff have their ear cropped by their owners while the Staffy rarely get ear cropped.
