Great video! I am wondering, as a pm I want to do this technique but my team is working in the agile environnement and the products managers I am working with are hard to convince to use this technique. What would be your arguments in my situation?

As a a senior developer who slowly transitioned to product owner I would be grateful to have a capable project manager. I have the experience that usually in different companies there is one or or the other. Rarely both roles cooperating. Sometimes its the senior dev who gets the pad on the back and needs to somehow try to run the show. But the truth is, both roles requires a lot of different skills that were quite hard to get and get right. Often times developers assigned with the role just cant acquire these, for various reasons. And thats was exactly what I saw when me and bunch of other devs got the product owner roles. Now thanks to your channel, and your book which has proven very valuable, Im on the correct path to gain the skills myself. I have one request though.. Would it be possible for you to maybe make a video on that topic? Is it an industry standard that you rarely see those roles cooperating in most cases and only the selected few business critical projects gets it? What is your experience with this? Have you also seen a lot of senior technical personnel in those roles? Thank you!

Thanks for writing back. I have some older videos where I explain the difference between the Product Owner and Project Manager. Maybe you'll find the answer there: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoiUmmyegM6FfMk As a product owner, you should focus more on requirements management and business analysis. When you interact with a Project Manager, you should stay on a high level. Ask them to provide you the deadlines for each piece of requirement. Also, focus on help the team understand the requirements better.

I really enjoyed your video. I am trying to figure out though what a technical interview for such roles in AWS could look like. I've applied for a CSM. I know it's off topic a bit but would appreciate your input.

There are whole KZbin channels that explain the interview process. I'm not the best expert of all ins and outs. But overall, you get a series of interviews and interviewers often stick to the script and ask situational questions based on Amazon Leadership Principles.

Thank You for sharing your knowledge! I recently earned my PMP certification, but I don't feel like it's helping me in my work. I'm wondering if I should update...
@ITProjectManagers10 күн бұрын
Congratulations on earning your PMP certification! It's normal to feel like there's a gap between learning and applying. Consider seeking out opportunities to implement your skills in real projects; that can boost your confidence and effectiveness. If by "update" you mean renewing your certification, then I recommend doing it at least once. Beyond that, usually, your hands-on experience speaks louder than certification.

@ Sorry, by update I meant renewing. I’m studying project management and English. Thank you for answering my question.

yes you need a tech knowledge , because in the interview even the HR knows the high level tech knowledge to ask ebtter questions. the PMs who does not know how things are working are the reason of burnouts, their unforseen, unrealistic expectations and false promises put an enourmous load onthe theam SO IF YOU DONT HAVE TECH BACKGROUND DO NOT BE A PM. KNOW YOUR PLACE AND STEP ASIDE OR LEARN AND BECOME A PM
@ITProjectManagers13 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. But it's like saying every project manger with technical background delivers projects flawlessly and doesn't put any stress on the team. You and I know it's not the case. But I get it. You might have had experience with incompetent PMs. That's why you are so vocal about it. That's exactly why I recommend that a PM needs technical awareness to know and understand how things work in the IT industry. The way I explained in the video.
