Everything you did on your purchase was completely WRONG. When you buy any used car especially 9 year old Hyundai or a Kia that burns oil like crazy you supposed to get Pre Purchase Inspection prior on paying for the car. Also you never tell the dealer to give you an offer but make an offer and negotiate with the dealer to meet somewhere between what you want to pay and what they want to charge you. Get PPI- Pre Purchase Inspection on all used cars before you buy them. Also when it comes to “warranties” on used cars. Dealers can sell and do sell cars AS/IS and cars in $5k price range usually sell AS/IS. This dealer didn’t do anything wrong. You bought a AS/IS car without Pre Purchase Inspection and dealers buy cars at auction just like you and also take chances on such a cheap car that you as a retail consumer should be responsible enough to check the car by your own trusted mechanic or hire a Pre Purchase Inspection company like Lemonsquad or someone online you can find by googling it and researching. My two cents, how would Flying Wheels known of the issue if Hyundai told you twice after inspections, it was good to go? 2/ $200 for a warranty that was offered was more than fair, you speculate the warranty wouldnt cover it but you dont actually know that, engine failure is a big item that isnt normally an exception in the clauses. If you had paperwork from the previous owner pointing to the recall and it didnt get relief at the Hyundai dealer you could have escalated to corporate Hyundai for relief. You seem to expect more from Flying Wheels than Hyundai knowing Hyundai was aware with TSB'S on the knock sensor and an active recall. Props to Craig and Lauren for paying for the $200 diagnostic fee. They may have been able to help if it was a small repair was probably why they went that far. If his profit after auction fees, reconditioning and advertising the car netted him say 800 or even 1000, your demand for the 5000 doesnt seem very reasonable.

I have a used car dealership in Maine and I give 30 days or 1000 miles. You spend $5200 for a used car would of taken it back sold them something else brought that car back to the auction and taken the hit. Craig’s not gonna want this video out there I promise you.
