Transparency like this is why I’ve been a subscriber from the very early days of carexpert. As someone who has been tempted by the lease benefits and price to performance of an m3p, I’ve been waiting for your review. This has red flags all over it from Tesla. Ps I don’t have a Tesla but do have a tuned golf r and live 20 min up the hwy from the proving ground 😅

Same position as me, stage 2 golf r wagon and very tempted for a m3p in quicksilver but I don't like how US cars are more powerful than the Aussie and euro cars. It's still quick as when I test drove it, got to the demo limiter rapidly but still seems dodgy not getting the same power globally

They don't want you to find out how quickly the motor and brakes overheat. I remember seeing track review between non highland Model 3 performance vs NIO ET5 vs BYD Seal performance in China. While the Model 3 comprehensively beat the other two in terms of lap time, the brakes overheated way sooner than the other two cars. It overheated so quick without warning even took the reviewer by surprise and he almost crashed it.

By getting it under the luxury car tax and setting the price so low has allows it to be fbt exempt which is very smart of them. Hopefully we get the better batteries in the future that improve performance .

Yes, false advertising to get a sale. However, that is Musk for you. I can remember him saying In December 2015, that "complete autonomy" would be implemented by 2018. At the end of 2016, Tesla expected to demonstrate full autonomy by the end of 2017, and in April 2017, Musk predicted that in around two years, drivers would be able to sleep in their vehicle while it drives itself. I remember when Nissan would void warranties on the GTR if it was detected that owners had been using launch control and broke driveline parts. HSV didn't honour warranty if the car broke at a track, but this move from Tesla is pretty stupid considering it is only a road test, not a track day. Hence, he declined our Model 3 performance test drive. What a pity. Maybe we could have just said "Let's see.." and in the end could have told them "We didn't like it not worth upgrading"

IIt is pretty obvious that if you want to track this car you would need to upgrade the brakes or at least choose appropriate pads and brake fluid, so you can the lower the regen to stop the battery heating up to the point it degrades the performance. Given we get the LG battery which seems to inferior to the Panasonic the power is reduced over the US model. The Ioniq 5N will be a lot better on the track than the M3P but cost around $30,000 more.

Track Mode is the single worst thing you can do for Straight Line acceleration because it cools the battery down. Please do not test acceleration in Track Mode. Instead navigate to a Supercharger for about 8 minutes to heat the battery. That will give you optimal acceleration. If you test acceleration in Track Mode then you are doing it wrong.

On the other hand, why give Tesla any airtime and promotion, with exception to gaining income through monetisation for yourselves (who are a great team I’ll add)? Then if you bag it out, they'll sue. Hope someone ponies up a car for the process if that's the way you'll go still, and if I had one, I'd be sure to put my hand up. Car makers need to learn to treat reviewers better or suffer no sales as a result. Tesla wont lern anything now because youll end up reviewing it anyway and thus still plastering their name all over your channel which is all they need you to do.

Which is quite a disappointing considering the superior suspension on the new model. We didn't experience any brake heating/fire issues, but they did get spongy after only 10 minutes of track time. Overall I'm actually quite disappointed with the performance on the 2024 model. More reasons not to upgrade. 😢

Good video, Paul. I imagine Tesla are overly cautious of people using this like a racing car (it isn't) and the brakes will overheat under heavier than normal/reasonable use. Then people will blow it up larger than it is. Tesla like to talk it up - as long as you don't take them up on it.

Thanks Paul for your excellent car Chanel. The new position of Mr Musk is to equip all Teslas with enhanced maga denial systems and conspiratorial battery anecdotes, just to please his followers and tribe members. But on the upside there are better, cheaper and even better looking EV's out there to test and drive for all. We are looking forward to all your car test, no matter what lies and hurdles they throw at ya. P.S. That includes of course ICE bias parrots. cheers
