Totally agree - for anyone looking for the best at a decent price, the Quest 3 is the way to go. If you MUST gave a couple hundred bucks, the Quest 3s will be good as well, but the visual quality will be sub-par by comparison. Thanks for the comment!

So, batteries - yeah.... what I did was, I took my BOBOVR headstrap, and not wanting to pay the $40 a pop for the batteries, I got a couple ANKER batteries - 10000mAH, and those will keep my headset battery constantly charged while playing. Then, I keep my headset battery at about 75% (best for longevity), and I just hot-swap the 2 external anker batteries I have on the back of the headset. I do have to disconnect battery from cable, and attach the new one, but takes about 5 seconds, and I can do without removing the headset. Then start the used up battery charging, and that gets me by. If I had 3 batteries, I'd probably NEVER have to stop playing, as one would always be charging, one ready, and one on headset. Anyway, that's my cheap-ish way of being able to use Quest 3 for HOURS AND HOURS without worry of running out of power.

@@jollyjulian I went with a cheap headstrap with a 12000 battery and I don't think it's very good. So it will charge my Quest 3 for I guess 2 times before I have to recharge again but it really seems like before I know it I have to keep charging it. Might get those Anker batteries and give them a try.

I hear you - for sure, I agree the Quest 3 is absolutely worth the extra funds, for those better visuals. Totally worth it. Comes down to how much someone will use the headset, I think. If you're only going to use it casually, and occasionally, then maybe saving the $200 or so will be worth it. But spring for the Quest 3 if you can! Worth it!

A GREAT question, and here's what it comes down to - how much you feel you're going to need to install larger games (and have many of them on headset at once) going forward. For me, personally, knowing that you will be using it strictly for ONBOARD VR (and not PCVR), that means you'll probably want the extra space, especially as games get larger for the Quest 3 going forward. With 512, you should be good to have a lot of games on there at once. However, if you're good having maybe 5 or 6 games on there at a time, and uninstalling the ones you don't use, and reinstall if needed, the 128 will be good. FOR ME, I'd probably go with the 512, but I know how much I use it, so worth it. Hope that helps, my friend!

Based on the persuasion of your points....I just ordered the 512 from Amazon.. In the big picture , just saving the cost of one restaurant dinner vs. having a better user experience with something that I will hopefully enjoy for many hours....is an easy cost/benefit justification. Having access to a PC is huge - really does open up a lot of amazing games. But, not everyone has one, so more games coming to standalone! Batman and Behemoth coming - they are going to be awesome!

@@jollyjulian If they don't get postponed again. For example, Behe doesn't come until December and somehow I feel too old for Batman. Yes, there are many games, and yes, very few are Quest3 productions. The best things in the store still come from Quest1. Meta doesn't want to produce games itself. You can tell that now if you've been there since the beginning. Without a PC, you buy glasses with old games or glasses for media consumption. If you buy a PS5 and the store is 95% full of PS3 titles,... what do you think then?

Love it! You're going to love it! For me, at least, the optics were a MAJOR jump from the Q2. Compare them when you get the Q3, and you'll see. Those pancake lenses are fantastic. Every major headset going forward should use them....

@@jollyjulian My Q3 arrived mid morning (today) and by 3:00 PM I had already installed/tested all my previous apps that are on my Q2. I need to give Kudo's to Meta for making the setup/installation of my apps a breeze on the Q3. The cloud saves from the apps that support it, was about as transparent as it gets. Just install the apps and the saves were automatically applied ( under the same account). Now for the nuts and bolts. I like it. The Q3 provided enough of a boost in image clarity to reduce the eye strain. Example. Distance images inside Real VR Fishing were sharper and more defined. 25-35 % improvement overall. The pancake lenses are a noticeable plus as the entire field of view looks more focused and clear. Another win, win, is without question the upgraded passthrough feature. I can now see details on my mobile device and PC monitor while wearing the headset. The downside... The headset seems to be a tad smaller on the face vs the Q2 and thus causes a discomfort on my forehead. I installed a 3rd party Strap Pad (Similar to what I use on the Q2), but that doesn't seem to eliminate the problem. Might need to invest in one of those 3rd party head pads with improved cushions (LOL).

Great question, and I think I know what's going on there! When you're done setting up the window where you want them, DON'T press resume on Virtual desktop. Just leave those windows where they are (or close any you don't want open by hitting the X in the upper right, and move your controller off those windows and click anywhere else with the trigger, and you'll be able to control your game again while those windows stay open. That should do it!

So, at least for now, it has replaced my other strap! They both have things about them I really like, and right now, I'm continuing to use the S3 Duo!

Thanks for the comment, my friend! I get where you're coming from with the travel case aspect, as well as laying down to watch content. The S3 Duo does, at least partially, solve that laying down part, which is awesome! It's not "perfect," as there is still a little something on the back of your head, but it's much smaller than most, and as long as your laying back on something somewhat soft, you should be good when you take the external battery off. And, I think it has a small enough form factor, that if you tighten it all the way, it might actually fit in some (or most) cases. I know it will fit in mine. Hopefully, you will be able to get it in the EU eventually. I I would think you should be able to for sure. I've not used any of the covers for the headset or controllers, as I live alone, and am the only one who uses the headset for the most part - and I'm super careful with it. But maybe in the future I'll check some out. As for the music - all stuff I've composed, but I do love me some Risk of Rain II, but I usually play with the music off (so I can play music of my own choosing most of the time. Great question, and first of all, love that you're in your Quest 2 almost every day! That's great! As for those two experiences specifically, I have not used either of those, however, here are a couple of things that could be affecting that. One thing is, often the "recording" of things can look sharper than what we see in the headset. I'm not sure why that is, but it is a thing. Secondly, make sure that your IPD adjustment (how close the lenses are to each other in the headset) is set to the best of the 3 settings for you. Move them together or apart to find the best "clear spot" for your eyes. Also, make sure the headset is positioned on your face perfectly when you put it on. Move it up and down and left and right, and make sure everything is the clearest possible, then tighten your headstrap to keep it in the spot to play. You may already do those things, but those are the best things to try. Also, do you wear glasses at all? If so, getting some LENS INSERTS with your prescription for the Quest 2 will make a HUGE difference. Hope those things help! Thanks for the comment, and keep VR-ing!

It's possible, but I don't expect they will lower the price of the Quest 3. If anything, I think they will keep it the full $500, so it is there for those who want a bit better, and those who want to save the $200 or so, can get the S3. Totally understand where you're coming from. So many LONG ads at beginning of almost all videos I'm watching, and so much fundraising from both candidates. Feels like the short 5 min-to-skip vids are getting less and less. Appreciate your comment and watch, though! (with user specific caveats) in favor of going with the 3... Maybe not, lol. It will work, as far as I've seen so far, with any game, including standalone on the Quest, and PCVR. I've not noticed a massive hit in performance, but most of my uses so far have been when doing PCVR. When playing a native Quest game, the headset may have to use more computing power, so could be a little hit there, but I doubt it will be a lot. Hope that helps! Yes, you should be able to watch KZbin in VRChat!

A great question! Very easy, overall. You do have to connect your computer to your quest to download the movie file to the headset. Then, you can watch by opening that video file in the FILES app on the Quest, or by watching in BIGSCREEN VR or VIRTUAL DESKTOP, or something like that. I do this all the time when flying, and it's GREAT!

A great question! I checked their website, and I don't see the weight listed there, but I just weighed one, and WITHOUT the controller installed, each weighs 118 grams. The weight felt REALLY good for the feeling of a smaller real pistol. Thanks for the comment about the reviews - I'm really into trying to do more of them, as accessories can add so much to the quality of our VR experiences....

I'm certainly there with you - the Quest 3s will NOT be for me, largely because it's going to be very hard for me to go back to non-pancake lenses after the Quest 3. But, Meta does seem to feel that getting it just around or under $300 is the make-it-or-break-it price point for more mass-adoption. We shall see! I'm guessing it won't seem different enough from Quest 2 for most as well. The marketing will be vital!

That is a definite improvement over the Quest 3 - while I use mine MOSTLY for PCVR, which makes the RAM not nearly as important, I've not noticed native games booting slowly, but comparison with the PICO would be interesting, for sure. Good point!
