Does your tachometer work purely on sound with no leads to spark plug cable etc? I’ve been struggling to find one of these got a link for one?
@VintageEngineRepairs22 сағат бұрын
Hey mate yes it’s inductive :) here is a similar one to what I use, just way cheaper. The only difference is this one doesn’t do quite as many cylinders - totally unnecessary for any ope! Save your money! Engine Tachometer - amzn.to/3TE48GZ just for full transparency this is an Amazon affiliate link - I may earn a small amount from qualifying purchases :)

Does anybody have a source for C1Q-S97 main nozzle checks? Zama does not list a part number
@VintageEngineRepairsКүн бұрын
I tried with no luck either. Your last option would be to remove it and see if you can find one of the same diameter and length. They’re normally 5 or 5.5mm type the measurements and I’ll see if I can find anything on it

@VintageEngineRepairs2 күн бұрын
Hey, sounds like your needle is leaking letting the fuel flow out of the drillings :) pressurise the fuel line (you take the filter off) and pressurise it to 7psi. It should hold, yours likely won’t.

The best method that I've seen is a 3:1 IPA to essential wintergreen oil mixture to soften rubber. Problem with brake fluid is over time, the rubber will "sweat" out the brake fluid. The other method IMO, is more permanent, but more expensive.

Yes I have heard of this too! I saw a video doing comparisons - very interesting!!

You can buy a SAFE, refillable canister for precisely this purpose. They've made them for 40+ years. This is a good way to end up in the emergency room.

What would happen if the metering diaphragm was hard or stiff with age? Would you be able to start a chainsaw for example?
@VintageEngineRepairs3 күн бұрын
Na you’d struggle to start it and it would run very lean :(
@trainwrekk96853 күн бұрын
@@VintageEngineRepairs Could it also result in a machine getting flooded? My chainsaw gets too much fuel to the point of getting flooded after pulling without choke. The metering membrane is stiff so I ordered a replacement, hoping that would fix the issue.

Great video, thank you for making and sharing. One thing that shocked me though, is to see that even lawn mower manufacturers are now using cheap plastic parts to build. Disgraceful when you think about it. Plastic parts are cheaper to make, break down faster/or more often and the lawnmowers cost same if not more than the mowers made back in the day using non plastic parts.

Hmm kinda, but it’s not designed to chase threads of a size other than what it’s set for. Just because it can expand, it’s only meant for that one size.

Yeah it’s confusing haha the pitch is set, just because you can make it a bit smaller, doesn’t mean the pitch will be correct.

You need to do a part 2 and may be even part 3 on this lathe because there is a lot more to cover, I have had this same lathe now for over 4+ years and cannot really complain if you do the adjustments change the spindles bearings to angular contact bearings lap the bed in you will get many years of work out of the lathe, I have not changed the plastic gears at all after 4+ years they are still running well today and I use this lathe every day making parts from all types metals, if people are breaking these gears they are doing something wrong, also the other job I found needs doing is remove the motor pull it apart clean the chips out and they do fill up with a lot of chips, of Couse that is going to short the motor out, and then fit some fly screen or similar to the vents on each end, I have worked out this is why the motors burn out before the end of their life as many people have complained about a very simple fix. 👍👍
