I’d love to know what part of the tutorial you are referencing. Is it possible you missed part of the wrap? Please make sure you are always training under the guidance of a professional, especially if you are just starting out. Students that have done star drop a handful of times can still wrap incorrectly if it isn’t in their body memory yet. It’s important to have a spot while learning drops. Safe training!

Is it normal to feel like your free falling and are going to die?
@aerialesteem
@aerialesteem 10 ай бұрын
Hahaha! Yes! At least at first. The first scary part of the silks popping off the hip bones when you fold forward. If you keep tension on the fabrics and feel that tightness as you straddle, it will give you a feel of greater control, compared to having too much slack on the silks and reaching lower which feels more like a free fall
@Katherines_journey
@Katherines_journey 10 ай бұрын
@@aerialesteem oh ok! Its just really scary going forward at first and i have to hold onto the ground lmao 🤣
@aerialesteem
@aerialesteem 10 ай бұрын
What do you mean hold onto the ground? You definitely want to be a couple of climbs up because this drop does lose a bit of height. As you are learning it, be sure to have a spot who will make sure your legs bend to the outside because if they go to the inside, it can turn into an ankle drop and you would need to start higher than how tall you are. So if you have very low silks, wait to try this one until you have access to more height, a good crash mat and a spot. Keep me posted!

Is there a possibiliy Not to jump into hipkey?
@aerialesteem
@aerialesteem 10 ай бұрын
Do you mean in the beginning? When initially leaving the ground to kick the legs to the side? In the air, we can't technically jump, though it is helpful to really think about swinging the legs to the side to get them nice and high and have the fabric come to rest between the thighs. With lots of strength and control, you can certainly lift off the ground by simply pulling up and engaging the core and obliques to lift the legs to the side and do more of a "deadlift" into hip key. The other 3 variations demonstrated also require no jumping. (from the ground, from the climb, and the invert variety) Focusing on control and breaking down each piece will go a long way in mastering your hip key! Thanks so much for watching!

How do you wrap your legs up?
@aerialesteem
@aerialesteem Жыл бұрын
Hi Hazel! Getting the wrap initially can be a little tricky but become much easier with practice. You can alternate legs which a lot of people find easier. That means when one is scooping backwards, the other is in the front lifting upwards, like how an egg beater works. This way your legs are less likely to collide with each other. Typically, a bent arm hold is an easier position for wrapping since you have more mobility in your lower half. It’s important to scoop the silks by circling your leg from the outside to inside and once you catch the fabric, lift your leg up high- almost to 90 degrees from your hip, so that you can sweep the leg backwards to then swing it around and catch the silk a second time without losing your first fabric. Then you bring your ankles together at the bottom, squeezing your heels together to hold the tension until you can transfer the tension to holding the silks in your hands. I hope this helps!

Go for three. Depending on how big your climbs are you could get away with two. If you have a small waist/hip you will need less height than someone with wider hips as that is the length of your drop.

Hello! I don’t have a tutorial for that particular split, but the best tutorial that will get you 2/3rds the way there is the arabesque to thigh hitch split video. This demos on a single pole, so just reference the arabesque to invert portion, but instead of having both feet in footlocks, just have one foot in the footlock and the other pole free. Have the free pole in your opposite armpit when starting, just like Rebekah. Once you get inverted, you will bring that free pole and wrap it over your ankle to then pull out for the straddle split and then just re-hook! I hope that helps 💖

This can be a little confusing- you need to make sure the fabric is crossing itself at the top of the loop- then you reach to the back side of the loop and pull the tail through to the same side of the crossed fabric- otherwise it just undoes the wrap and doesn’t lock.
