Was there back in 1977 and we were the only yacht in the bay... Should be mentioned that Thor Heyerdahl's initial book, before the famous Kon Tiki voyage, was called Fatu Hiva. Very important early part of the world learning about this island group. Read Fatu Hiva to see what Fatu HIva and Hiva Oa were like back in the 30's... Even in 1977, there was essentially no tourism except a supply boat every two weeks to Nuka Hiva. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was in this setting, surrounded by the ruins of the formerly glorious Marquesan civilization, that Heyerdahl first developed his theories regarding the possibility of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact between the pre-European Polynesians, and the peoples and cultures of South America.[10] Despite the seemingly idyllic situation, the exposure to various tropical diseases and other difficulties caused them to return to civilisation a year later. They worked together to write an account of their adventure.[5] The events surrounding his stay on the Marquesas, most of the time on Fatu Hiva, were told first in his book På Jakt etter Paradiset (Hunt for Paradise) (1938), which was published in Norway but, following the outbreak of World War II, was never translated and remained largely forgotten. Many years later, having achieved notability with other adventures and books on other subjects, Heyerdahl published a new account of this voyage under the title Fatu Hiva (London: Allen & Unwin, 1974). The story of his time on Fatu Hiva and his side trip to Hivaoa and Mohotani is also related in Green Was the Earth on the Seventh Day (Random House, 1996).

Amazing video! Stunning scenery. I simply love atolls. Just sharing, the music really interferes while watching. The jaw dropping scenery doesn’t need the help of music .

Is this a documentary, or a Rock Concert? If the volume is loud enough for me to hear you, it is WAY TOO LOUD when you pump up the music. Or is it just the music you like, and I should, too?

Hi Adam and Sarah Deb and I have just binge watched your amazing adventure after spoting the name of the yacht. Deb and I have been on this yacht in Wellington and I have to say what a great yacht it is. You have really made us think about the next chapters in our lives and we are seriously considering buying a yacht and spending 18 months or so learning and living on a similar adventure. We both learnt heaps from your videos. If you are ever in the South Island please give us a hola. Keep safe. Nick

If you were given a free ticket to Paradise, would you go? Ask yourself, “Where is Paradise and what would you find there?” Beaches, palms, and surf? Mountains and snow-capped peaks? Is Paradise the unity of mankind and peace on earth? Paradise is actually the place where God dwells. Most people think they will go to Paradise when they die, but let’s see if that’s true. Have you ever lied or stolen? Liars and thieves won’t be in Paradise. Have you lusted after others, or dishonored your parents? Have you cursed the God who created Paradise? If any of these are true, you’ve offended Him and broken His Law. Instead of entering Paradise, the penalty for your crimes will be eternal death in Hell. However, God offers Paradise to those who bring Him a sinless payment for their sins. Your goodness and good deeds are not that sinless payment. God will only accept the sacrifice of His sinless Son, Jesus Christ. Anyone who repents and believes in Him will be cleansed of their sins and given that free ticket to Paradise! Jesus promised the thief on the cross who trusted in Him: “…Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43) Don’t live in a “fool’s” Paradise thinking this life is all there is. God is inviting you to the “real” Paradise through faith in Jesus Christ. When you breathe your last breath and life on earth is over, will it be Paradise “lost” or Paradise “found” for you?

I made the crossing in December , 1975 from Tenerife to Barbados in almost exactly the same time,15 1/2 days. There were 5 of us aboard the family boat, "Long Reach". She was a brand new C&C 43. The year long voyage took us from Hamilton, Ontario, down the St. Lawrence River, across to England, then down to Spain, Gibraltar, the Canaries on to Barbados, then home again through the Caribbean, Bahamas the east coast of the U.S., up the Hudson to the Erie and Oswego barge canals to Lake Ontario and home again. I can't tell you how much your videos kindled wonderful memories of that year long voyage! Thank you so very much for sharing YOUR memories!

Wow! Thanks for documenting your epic journey from the Mediterranean to New Zealand! I think I watched all your videos. That Beneteau held up good - except for the pesky water maker! I’m recuperating from a broken foot and your videography has helped me pass the time and dream while I’m laid up. Good on ya! (is that how they say it) :-)

The boat is dying and without help i will loose it, i will loose my house, my life. Help me please: a little help from a bunch of person could save my boat-house, my life. [email protected] PLEASE!
